It is immoral for anyone to rejoice over reports that president Michael Sata is in India for medical check-ups-Lubinda

MINISTER of Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Given Lubinda

MINISTER of Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Given Lubinda

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Given Lubinda has charged that it is immoral for anyone to rejoice over reports that president Michael Sata is in India for medical check-ups.

Mr. Lubinda has however maintained that President Sata’s private visit to India has nothing to do with his health adding that the head of state is in perfect condition.

The minister in a telephone interview on ZNBC’s Mid- morning show was reacting to a story reported in one of the papers that there is jubilation in the opposition UPND over false reports that the president is in India to seek medical attention.

And Mr. Lubinda says the US $ 10 thousand Donation that the president made to a school while in Botswana should not be trivialized.

Mr. Lubinda notes that the donation was just a kind gesture from president Sata to the people of Botswana for honoring him by according him an opportunity to officially open the school during his state visit to that country.

He adds that the benefits of Zambia maintaining good relations with Botswana are more than the 10 ,000 dollars donation which is only equivalent to K 52 million.

And the minister noted that records at the Zambian mission in Botswana indicate that 2000 Zambians are currently working in Botswana.

Mr. Lubinda notes that the Botswana economy has helped cushion the impact of unemployment in Zambia by creating jobs for Zambians residents there.

He has however, reminded the Zambians in the diaspora on the importance of them investing back home so as to secure their future.

That is what happens when you leave people in suspense. They have every reason to speculate and find answers for themselves. I don’t find it morally right for the President to travel on tax payers money yet claim the trip is private… We need to know what the big man went to do in India. Mr. Lubinda, can you tell the nation please?

    And I quote:
“Sources told DeshGujarat that he is undergoing treatment at Samved hospital, Navrangpura. This hospital majorly deals with the patients of prostate, kidney stone and bladder surgery.
As he has been given the state guest status, proper security has been provided at Taj Gateway Hotel near the Ahmedabad airport where he stays.
Back at home in Zambia, Sata’s visit has been declared as private visit. This is the first trip Sata is taking out of Africa from the time he was elected president.” DeshGujarat News, Ahmedabad, 24 March 2012.

Let them celebrate because u also celebrated the death of Mazoka and Mwanawasa. Why is it that Zambia is now the country with deaths and sicknesses of Presidents? Lets be careful when choosing leaders, in 2006 Mwanawasa was declared unfit and we all knew that but we still voted for him, and he died. in 2011 we all knew that Sata has been having problems with his health but we went ahead to put him president. Though its God who gives and takes life, we can still avoid voting for people who are already sick.

But Sata rejoiced over Mazoka and Mwanawasa’s illnesses. What is good for the goose is good for the Gander. Any if Sata is sick I wish him quick recovery. The Government has said he is not sick but on a private visit. But you should realise that there is no private visit for the President. He is our property, that is why even when he visited GBM’s wife, we had to be told. Sata was in the forefront in Mwanawasa was in Europe sick that we should be told everything that was going on. He even threatened to go to Europe for the same purpose. I am surprised how things are changing. All the things you were championing when you were in the opposition are now wrong things because you are the government. Please be frank and truthful.

Its ironic that the president was castigating doctors in Bots. to return home yet the selfsame president is discreetly flying out of the country for simple medical checks…if he showed a bit of humility instead of being harsh two days ago people would sympathise with him.
The world is a very small place, he shouldn’t be surprised if he meets a specialist Zambian doctor wherever he is in India.

More people have access than you know. Most use their work internet, few use mobile devices and even fewer post comments.

You can see by the number of comments over the weekend vs during the week vs at night (Zambian time, of course).

Most of our ISP connect to other countries so the flag shows that we are not in Zambia when we actually are, such as myself.

It is a cosmic balance that President Sata has become a victim of “people rejoicing “over his medical condition and clearly this is a case of chickens coming home to roost which should be understood in the context of the man involved. When Vice President George Kunda was taken ill in a South African hospital, Sata mockingly rang the hospital to ask if Mr kunda was still alive. Sata mocked President Levy that he was a cabbage and his brain dysfunctional. Sata was laughing at Rupiah Banda’s knees when his age mate went for check-up in South Africa. Personally I am not surprised that Sata’s indiscretions have come back to haunt him. I want to thank LT and ZWD for “democratizing” the press in Zambia because Mmembe is no longer reliable. Please keep us informed.

If we had a normal reporter or editor at some of the private papers. Abnormal editors are pushing the country in wrong perceptions meant to divide the country. Very useless indeed. If God could deal with such’s hearts and lives, Zambia could be different.

He who is void of virtuous attachments in private life is, or very soon will be, void of all regard of his country. There is seldom an instance of a man guilty of betraying his country who had not before lost the feeling of moral obligations in his private connections… [P]rivate and public vices are in reality… connected… Nothing is more essential to the establishment of manners in a State than that all persons employed in places of power and trust be men of [exceptional] character.

A free lecture to Bwana Lubinda and legion. History is a witness of the truth of the principle that good morals are essential to the faithful and upright discharge of public functions. The moral character of a man is an entire and indivisible thing—it cannot be pure in one part and defiled in another. A man may indeed be addicted, for a time, to one vice and not to another; but it is a solemn truth that any considerable breach in the moral sense facilitates the admission of every species of vice.

Zambia is in big trouble when young leaders like Lubinda that we thought were the only identifiable elements of speaking sense and hope of rescuing our nation begin to engage in senseless politicking and defend primordial politics. Evidently hopeless as Michael Sata is, the man is worse surrounded by some incompetent people who are misleading him.

Let us accept facts, It is very immoral for people to rejoice over someons’ illness or death and this kind of immorarity is all what you can see in UNDP members and the Tongas in general. Can Zambians give such immoral people the key to the state house? It is sad that Watchdog and the Tongas have something to celebrate about because they didn’t celebrate with the rest of Zambians when MMD lost and PF won. I have a message to UNDP that you guys are not going anywhere, just drink your Chibwantu and laugh. Zambian are mature people and they are seeing what you are doing, and they cannot vote for such immoral political party. Sata or no Sata PF is or party an one bad egg can not make Zambians to change their minds for an immoral political party like UNDP. I wish the President well in india.

Zambia needs prayers, it doesn’t make sense for a country that was moving in the right direction only to suddenly become directionless as a result of change of Govermet. What was in the mind of the 1mil voters? We seem to have gone back to period between 1991 and 2001, the period during which the most common statement from the Late President was ‘the goverment has no money.’ I would like to advise this goverment to be very honest with the public. Else it will not be immoral for the public to rejoice over the sickness or indications of death of the President. For it is written in Prov 11:10 that when the righteous prosper, the City rejoices, BUT WHEN THE WICKED PERISH, THERE IS SHOUTING. So please Mr President uphold righteousness so that former of this verse is fulfilled rather than..

Therefore the best 50/50 situation we should be praying for is for UKwa to come back as a cabbage (the term he used on Levy) ,that way he will be there for his family and as a country we can elect a new leader who will give direction to the country.

The whole issue was not handled properly in the first place. Even a simple statement that he was going for a routine medical check-up would have slowed down the rumour mill. It goes without saying that he is an old man and the pressure of his job is likely to accelerate the demise of any ailing organs in his body. There are a lot of unanswered questions but for now we wish him a quick recovery.

Well you need to look at how King David handled the King Saul situation. There is a lot of wisdom in that.Personally I hope for the day when Zambia will bring in fresh leaders with fresh ideas.Given a choice now I would vote for someone young but wise enough to lead the nation like Kikwete was.
Now David knew he was to be the next king but he never never hastened Saul’s death. He never wished him dead as you guys are doing. Now that takes a lot of character and maturity which is lacking in most of the people on this blog
If Mr Sata ever ridiculed other people’s health then let God deal with him.Who are you to judge him? From what I know he made up with Levy before he died.
On the surface these politicians look like arch enemies but you never know what goes on when they meet.
