Mike Mulongoti, Nevers Mumbo express concern on President Sata’s attidude towards Commision of Inquiry reports

Former MMD chairperson for elections Mike Mulongoti

Mike Mulongoti

Former works and supply minister Mike Mulongoti said that he hopes Republican President Michael Sata is mindful of the consequences of his negative statements on the reports of the commissions of inquiry.

Mr. Mulongoti said that president Sata being the appointing authority should realize the impact of libeling a report of the commission of inquiry useless. Mr. Mulongoti explained to QFM News that as the appointing authority, the outcome of the commissions of inquiry whether bad or good is a shared blame.

Stakeholders in the recent days have expressed concern over President Sata’s rubbishing of some reports of the commissions of inquiries.

And opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) presidential aspirant Dr. Nevers Mumba has charged that Republican President Michael Sata has demonstrated that the commissions of inquiry he set up are a poor way of governance.

Dr. Mumba has agreed with some stakeholders in the country that the president seems to have a predetermined position on the commissions of inquiry. He said that his outburst on the Sebastian Zulu commission of inquiry branding it useless demonstrates that he wants targeted individuals to be prosecuted.

Dr. Mumba in an exclusive interview at his current residence said that the president should ensure that he respects people that he appoints in the commissions of inquiry he sets up.

The former republican vice president has added that the conduct of the president is un-presidential as it is done in public. He also said that the commissions of inquiry are a financial liability to the country.

Dr. Mumba also expressed concern on the president’s attacks on the police service. He recalled that the president promised a lot of things to the police service while in opposition and wonders why he has resorted to attacking them. He said that such attacks have the potential to bring discontent in the police service.

It was a worst of my vote. Its time we looked beyond public figures but about the sense of humility. Ba sata you are already an embarrasment and you have explicity exhibited arrogance and lack the political antiquette.

A lesson to all that sit on COIs. The President already has the findings of whatever the commission of Inquiry he puts in place, so do not come up with ‘cooked-up’ answers, no. All he expects from you is comfirmation of what he already knows failure to which then you are useless. I hope that is very clear from his reactions to the reports. The Barotseland COI was meant to punish Rupiah and George Kunda and the Rader-Dora Commission was meant to punish Dora and Henry, and what does he get? a ‘restoration’ and ‘technical’ report when we all know that he is not a restorer and technical person! Thats why he called one ‘reluctant to..’ and the other ‘useless’. This is not a university where you d a research and find your own objective answers, no, this is the PF administration.

Fellow Zambians. Lets call a spade a spade. The real reason why white collar crimes are difficult to prosecute in Zambia is that the work of the police is below par from a training perspective,. What Sata is saying should be looked at in terms of the type of criminality that is taking centre stage in Zambia and elsewhere around the globe. For a long time the police service under UNIP’s KK never recruited university or colleague graduates into their academy and that was a problem instead we recruited G12 & Form 3 rejects into the police academy. World over the police recruits graduates from a wide range of professions such as: computer scientists, psychologists, social workers, lawyers, accountants, criminologists, doctors, journalist etc. Instead of condemning the man look at the reality

The under educated statement is painful to take but that’s the reality only under Chiluba’s rule did GRZ slowly start to look at recruiting University graduates. As GRZ is planning to deliver e-Government services to the citizenry, one can only wonder if Zambia Police will be ready to investigate cyber crimes later alone have the tools, resources & qualified experts to carry our such complex crimes. Having seen & admired the work of the police in other countries, I have to agree we are protected by a rotten police service in Zambia and there is nothing worse than being protected by an incompetent police service.

Our police is one of the best in the region. The only problem is that they are hardly allocated the funds they need. Dont you remember MPs telling the former PS Mrs. Mutiti that she was being too ambitious when she appeared before a parliamentary committee just becoz she said that she wanted helicopters procured for the police.

A vote cast to elect a President, an MP or Counsellor is so precious that it is supposed to deliver promises of development to the electorate within five years. Alas! Many Zambians are regretting with a realisation of the folly they made for having voted for PF. Apparently, Mr. Mike Mulongoti should have known the in-born inherent genetic constitution of Mr. Sata. Violence, scornful language and insults are embedded in Sata’s nature in life. We have yet to see more drama of Ukwa’s episode on stage.

A quick genuine advice to Mr.Mulongoti. IN THE PF RANK AND FILE RATIONAL THINKIING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Thinking relating to matters of policy in PF and its Govt has been strongly centralised as the prerogative of President Sata. Others in PF regime are expected to node their heads in approval of Sata pronouncements and actions – on stage. Regards, Musadabwe Mphangwe

The calling of police as uneducated its unfortunate. Zambia Police has been doing very good compared with other neighouring countries. Its very sad that the head of state (Mr simplify) can utter these comments, the man has failed to meet what he promised the police. He can’t manage to give them decent accommodation, salaries, allowances, transport, water, uniforms etc, these are the people working under difficult condition. Les give our police the due respect. These police officers are human being like ourselves, they are our brothers and sisters.

    Sorry for the post @12.

@4 St Louis is it necessary for the president to set up a COI if he already knows what is to be inuired of? Isnt it a waste of resources which could be used on other critical issues? You must have spent all your primary school years in group 3.

All the presidents that have served Zambia in the past have ridiculously abused the powers vested in them by virtue of the office they occupy. This what we have always been crying against since time in memorial. Please constitution makers do something about the powers of the president so that the country is not driven astray by a single chap. Bashi Chilufya nabatusebanya pafula, it is so embarrassing how the president behaves, even the so called kaponyas themselves are wondering what is going on with MCS since he assumed the highest office. Insoni nebo mwe!

I’m not a politician’s pawn or fan. They are mostly useless. Machiaveli would have made the best leader because he would have known when to tell his nation what lies and what truths As a leader you just never say anything anytime and to anyone. Thank God Sata will only be in State House for one term. .

Too bad you could not get the gist of my comment and decided to attack me.The COI legitimises the persecution (no prosecution) of political opponents, meaning thet predetermined. As for the group, you are right, i have been through, one day in group 1, the other in group 2 and then 3. how about you? Thanks

This is exactly why we were flabbergasted when we heard how many zambians were willing to give their hard earned votes to president ‘Ukwa’. It is probable that he still smokes marijuana, though he claims that he stopped ! How can you place the rights of all Zambians in such a man’s authority !! Shame on you!!! It islike you are dealing with a mad man !!! From the start of his term its been total confusion through out !!! Any one who supports this behaviour, must also have their heads examined !!
