Zambia’s Mampi is competing in this years Big brother Africa. The “Queen Diva” from Lusaka was inspired to enter Big Brother by her fans. Mampi describes herself as a diva who is spontaneous, unpredictable and sexy, and likes people who are friendly, funny and free-spirited. She is a no-nonsense drama-lover who loves commotion, flirting and dancing.

Actually, we have two other Zambian girls in the house who, in my view, are even far much better than Mampi. It is only that she is in the so called Upperville house for the stars. She has to improve, her entry into the house was not as glamorous as one would expect. The two other Zambian girls did it fr me!!!

My problem with these shows is that they promote a selfishness, an individualism, where each person will do whatever it takes to get the most attention. Decency and discretion are vices on the show, and people behave worse than animals just to get more screen time. It’s artificial, and also, it’s a waste of time. I understand people watch television to unwind, for pleasure, but the pursuit of mindless pleasure becomes addictive and cheapening, and the culture is coarsened. Leonard Pitts, a columnist for the Miami Herald has written of the increasing irreverence of America, where nothing is sacred. Humor is good, but too much of it ignores the other realities of life, and those who are not able to seek pleasure due to inequality.

I’m unsure as to which part of my post you disagree with or find lacking. And to your question, no, I don’t believe so. I suppose anyone can make an argument for anything, like certain modern and contemporary art pieces, but in the end, I think some of it is just rubbish not art, no matter what meaning you try to ascribe to it. BBH is like Jersey Shore: Boring and painful to watch.
