Kola Heads To Belgium

Time Posted: May 8, 2012 12:09 am

Striker Rodgers Kola put behind his disappointing Africa Cup snub after winning a European move to KAA Gent of Belgian.

The striker ‘s agent Nir Karin confirmed on Monday that the former Zambia Under-23 striker will join Gent on a five-year deal.

Karin said the deal was worth Euros 800,000 for the striker who leaves Israeli club Ashdod for Western Europe after over two seasons in Israel.

Kola is the third Zambian to have attracted interest from Gent in the last 10 years.

Midfielder Ian Bakala and defender Elijah Tana were less successful when they attended trials there in April 2002.

Meanwhile, Kola failed to make the trip to Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in January after coach Herve Renard dropped him from the team.

please continue to work hard young man. The battle isn’t for the strong or swift, but chance and opportunity is given to them all. Your absence from the African Cup should propel you to work even harder so that you show our able couch what you are also capable of. May God bless you in your next challenge, please don’t forget your maker and your humble beginnings. Represent our country with honour and dignity!!!!

That is great Rogers, atleast we can now watch Mayuka, Kola & Luka Lungu up front against Ghana.
No more Chris Katongo, Chamanga & Mbesuma.

Congrats and go well. Number 4, Selako Ntambe, your suggestion sounds marvellous. Lets try Mayuka, Kola & Singuluma. But i still feel Katongo is needed to play deep in midfield to compliment Kalaba

are you crazy no more chris katongo!!!! without katongo zambia is useless and katongo is only 29 turning 30 in august. Do you think zambia was going to be champions of africa without chris katongo. you are mad go for check up! chris will lead zambia till he is 32 at brazil 2014 where he will retire. perhaps chamanga is tired at 35 but please watch your comments about the captain he is very important to zambia for the next two or three years. You cannot play ghana or brazil with kids you need experience.

We really need players like Kola to challenge for the positions upfront in the Zambia National Team. If we have two players who run like mayuka and accurate on goal like mayuka, then Zambia is deadly. Go Kola Go and we will support you.

This is good news for Zambian soccer lovers, however Chris is very hardworking even at his real age of 40, he still has the energy to play and inspires the team very well so if he is lucking due to his old age of 40 the coach should feel free to substitute him for Henry milanzi or Dennis lota.

#4 I agree with you over Cris. I am usually not blinded by hero warship. If cris was at his best against Ivory Coast that game would not have gone to penalties. He wasted chances and frustrated Kalaba. We appreciates his efforts and he has done great for Zambia but we should not keep worshipping him until he misses a penalty like what happened to Kalu.
