Newly elected MMD president Nevers Mumba has promised party members that he will never abandon them. Dr. Mumba said that he is aware of the huge task ahead of him in presiding over the affairs of the former ruling party.

He said that he will ensure that he works on uniting the party in readiness for the 2016 elections. Dr. Mumba has thanked members of the MMD and other people that rallied behind him through votes and endorsements.

He said that the former ruling party will continue providing checks and balances and ensure that the current government remains accountable to the people of Zambia. Dr. Mumba has called on MMD members to ensure that the party is strengthened at all levels.

Meanwhile, Former Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia executive director Bishop Paul Mususu has charged that the opposition in the country has been weakened. Bishop Mususu said that the plural politics that Zambians wanted has failed to materialize because of a weak opposition.

He has observed that whatever the opposition brings to the attention of the government seems to be landing on deaf ears. Bishop Mususu explained to QFM News that tenets of plural politics need to be upheld in the name of democracy.

He said in its current weak state, the opposition cannot provide the necessary effective checks and balances to the government.

  1. Nevers Mumba, wisemen, seers or soothsayers always say never say never because life always conspires to make sure you break your word.Having said that, i congratulate you and wish you well as the new MMD president.Should you make it in 2016 you’ll most certainly be a breadth of fresh air both in good looks and in educational attainment compared to the current under par occupant of plot one.

  2. Going back to where you belong is my prayer for you Dr. Nevers Mumba. No place for you in Gambling.

  3. MMD you are going no where, that man is selfish…i worked with him in 2000 when i so much supported Eva Sunderson in NCC,where is she now? He run away from her and put his selfish desire first, believe me you are going no where

  4. MMD has to clease itself frm tht tag of been a corrupt party.pastor has a lot to impress zambia to put confidence in their pockets..as it stands, our dear pastor is there for a salary to support hs family.MMD will never rule again

  5. Mr Mususu may have a point but he courts the press for publicity. Checks and balances in the nation can be provided not only by the opposition but by all Zambians in general. The attitude of the current PF govt is to intimidate all opposition parties and that should not be allowed by Zambians. We moved away from that type of politics 30 years ago. However, when old polititians like Sata are voted in, all his old allies are broght in (as characterised by PFgovt) and Sata hinted of colonial way of goverance to be put in place. Such approach in today’s politics should have no place in Zambia. Sata is weakening the opposition to peretuate his deception to Zambians that he will develop the nation, creating employment when nothing so far has happened in 6 months. He continues to dupe Zambians.

  6. Mr Mumba, there is no future in MMD.You guys blew up 20 years Zambians gave you.Now we are looking at fresh people in Govt like UPND not recycled human beings in the name of MMD. You just talk too much just like your uncle SATA but no substance. We are fade up of orators like you.

  7. Come what may, your time has come Dr Mumba. Many thought u won’t make it to the top job of MMD now you are. There are still many who think u won’t make it to state house, they are few. We are in the majority. Come 2016 u are my president!

  8. This is bad news for us bembas this guy is going to divide our tribalism voting block bembas in Copperbelt northern and luapula will be divided between PF and Mumba . This will make it impossible to get 50+1%  hence with the planned vote block to put a non Bemba president by HH and his Lozi, easterners, northwestern and southerners may put us in Abadan state. So my advise to PF is don’t accept the 50 plus 1 clause in the comming constitution review we must also use this stupidy clause against MMD

    • You have a point and that is why MMD and UPND will support the 50%+1.  PF will flip-flop as usual on the Constitution and annoy Zambians by reversing its stance on the 50%+1 clause but that will not stop non-Bembas from ensuring that Sata is the last Bemba thief in State House.

  9. It’s your previous actions that have made you start promising now. Look into yourself and find out what you really want. Otherwise people will not take you seriously. At one time it was said that KK wanted to anoint you as UNIP president, but alas, you transformed your pressure group with Simataa into a political party. Mwanawasa was nearly impeached because he appointed you VP. This was after you abandoned your colleagues in the opposition. Now it is said RB and his cohorts have sponsored you. The likes of Dora and Peter Daka caused RB’s downfall, but they were the ones busy campaigning for you. Even the MMD doesn’t know where it will end up with you. Otherwise we wish you well, man of God.

  10. pastor mumba ‘uwakalema takaleka’. ba mmd be wary! otherwise congrats for holding democratic provincial conferences.

  11. So iz this an addmission that Nervous Mumba often haz a tendancy to abandon thnigz he choozez to undertake? Hope he lives by hiz promise.

  12. the boy is cheating you. you will see what happens after 2016 elections. The chances for him to be republican president will get slim and will shift goal posts. I am very sure the boy will leave MMD. Hard lucky!

  13. No more Bemba President. Zambians from other regions please lets unite and stop these Bembas from further messing us up. Enough is enough, we have been taken for a ride for too long by these Bembas. We had a bigger orator in Chiluba than Nevers and where did that land us. I am sure all other Zambians should learn from the soildarity shown by these Bembas for their own regardless of quality. Just digusted by the cursed clan.

  14. dr mumba im sending you a heart felt congratulation for becoming mmd president. infact we know it immediately after you were recalled from canada. thank God for mmd die supporters like Lusambo and other mmd supporter. it good that you have come at time such as this.to prove yourself and bring total transformation in mmd. when mmd needs a hero to turn things up side down. you will make it because you are a world changer. i know there are giants ahead of you but you will make it to the promised land. only be strong and be courageous.

  15. DR MUMBA WORK ON YOUR SELFIH MORALS. YOU HAVE VERY VERY BAD BEHAVOR TOWARDS PEOPLE, FOR US THAT HAVE WORKEDWITH YOU KNOW VERY WELL THAT YOU HAVE VERY BAD ATTITUDE TOWARDS PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THOSECLOSE TO YOU. YOU ARE IN THAT VILLA RENTING ALL ALONE, YOU CANT EVEN INVITE A BRO OR RELATIVE TO COME AND STAY WITH YOU AS YOU WAIT UR FAMILY FROM CANADA. SIR TRY TO IMPROVE ON RELATION WITH PEOPLE. IN CANADA U CAUSED CONFUSSIONS AT ZAMBIA OFFICE AND IN FIGHTING. YOU GAT TO IMPROVE ON YOUR RELATIONS WITH PEOPLE. BESIDES YOU JUST WANT TO BE WITH YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN, THAT IS NOT LEADERSHIP, PEOPLE WHO COME TO GREAT YOU AT THAT VILLA WERE YOU ARE NOW, YOU HAVE BEEN GIVING THEM COLD FEET.

    • There will be more of the same!  Trust me.  I just wonder which *****s voted this guy into the MMD presidency.

  16. Too bad that the MMD has elected this traitor of a pastor to lead them in 2016. Mutati would have been a better option and not this dubious bearded traitor who has not even built himself a house. MMD is finished forever and ever amen….

  17. Bishop misusu, the GRZ cannot take the oppossition contribution seriouly coz most of them are very mischievious. Take a look at HH, is that the type of opposition you want government to listen to even this NEVERLANDS ( nevers mumba) who can take him seriously ? The guy is there for self glory

  18. It has been long time to hear term “Plural politics”. So Bishop Mususu what Zambia is experiencing is “singular politics”?

  19. Nevers Mumba’s toughest challenge will come from the top hierarchy of the MMD, especially the founding members. As others have already observed, the man is selfish and pompous.

  20. Congratulations Dr. Mumba for being elected president of MMD. Just like many bloggers have said equally worried that you will abandon MMD the way you abondoned the church and your part NCC…..

  21. it is better to listen to God for he is the final Judge. move keep on moving i know in zambia there is pull him down syndrome and jealousy. pliz never never give up on this cause.

  22. Hahahahahaa, I would trust Sata more than this guy. He is too shrewed! Has no direction really. I doubt if MMD will stand beyond 2015! Mark my words

  23. Pastor Mumba,
It will be very difficult to erase the difficulty mmd had put pipo in during privatisation and the corruption accelerated by Rhupia and sons. You will need to ask for forgiveness from the Zambian pipo. We need new and young political leaders like Elius Chipimo we are tired of the same pipo and re-cycled politicians. The majority of Zambians are youths we need to govern ourselves.

  24. Just by being a ‘pentecostal’ pastor, you have already divided us.Who wants to be associated with these noise making hypocritical hoodlums?

  25. Vj rigger, u spot on. If i had powers wud ban all pentocostal churches for noise drums, crooked, bad hearted people, trickstars, extortionists, ruthless money lovers

  26. I concur with most bloggers above that Pastor Mumbas’ ambitions are nothing but completely self serving. If he became president I am almost sure we would be back to the same corruption levels we saw with RB & sons, except this time it would be only him & wife. The MMD may celebrate the election of Mumba as democratic, but believe it or not, it was money from RB, Dora & Peter Daka talking to the delegates. The spending MMD delegates saw is not the genuine Never Mumba, it is the corrupt requiring shielding in the hope that Nevers wins the 2016 general elections. Nevertheless, it will not happen and in the interim, Nevers will woodwink the masses with loud persecution cries for corrupt MMD members being prosecuted. Most people will not TRUST Nevers and it is a none starter!

  27. Prepare for elections in 2016? Wrong thinking and strategy Dr Mumba, don’t you read the writing on the wall? I advise you to prepare MMD for elections as if they will be held next week.

  28. It is good that bemba to bemba so that we will see how the northen and copperbelt will vote in this case, interesting, somehow, I am happly, if not the happiest, it will help in electing a non- bemba before you know it 2016 comes, MMD had ruled for 20 yrs and Pf just came, so we will see who will be the next one, it will be interesting!

  29. Be ware of these pentecostals. When Chiluba entered state house in 1991 they were the first ones to go and cast out” Kaunda Demons”from state house through their so called Prayers. Were did we end up? More Demons in state house….Chiluba atampa ubuchende mu state house! Vera now bamwikata ubuchende! Abana bakwa Chiluba bakosa ku bwalwa ne bange! All these after casting out Kaunda Demons by the Pentecostals. Corruption became worse and Chiluba declared Zambia a christian nation becaused he became a man of God! Zambians do not be cheated by this Nevers…..he is is a selfish cheat and liar!!!!!

  30. Tombolilo is right. I was one of the pente bishops dragged to go and cast demons from state house in 1991. What a mistake i made. I am a pente bishop but i know my bother is selfish. All the money from Americans not even ka clinic ku Chinsali!!

  31. MMD is a dead party. Electing someone  who has failed as ambassador, vice president, his own congregation, is the last nails in MMD’s coffin. Where is his church, victory ministries? I tried to Google it, doesn’t exist!. His party NCC, laid to rest. With a CV like this, you still make him top dog of a major opposition party and hope he will galvanise MMD! Good luck!
