Former information and broadcasting services minister Lt. General Ronnie Shikapwasha has charged that the kind of journalism being practiced by the public media is the worst.
General Shikapwasha claims the public media under the MMD performed better than it is presently. The former minister who is Kembe Member of Parliament states that the public media is presently aimed at attacking the opposition.
He bemoans the poor coverage the MMD is receiving from the public media in the country.
General Shikapwasha has advised the media to be more professional and ensure that coverage is given to all stakeholders regardless of political affiliation.
Meanwhile, The Media Institute in Southern Africa-MISA- Zambia Chapter has condemned the detention of a ZNBC Reporter by Police in Kitwe for pursuing allegations of abuse within the Police Service
MISA Zambia Chairperson Daniel Sikazwe says the media body condemns in the strongest terms the detention of ZNBC Cameraperson who doubles as a reporter Andrew Mpandamwike for pursuing an allegation of abuse in the Zambia Police Service.
Mr. Sikazwe says this has impacted negatively on his ability to perform his function as a watchdog of society.
Mpandamwike was trying to verify the truth about abuse in the Police Service and the police ended up detaining him and also held on to his camera.

1. Gen. Ron Shikapwasha should not complain coz when he was in govt he did not see the need for balanced reporting by the public or state media. Lets be civilised the way we conduct ourselves. Now he is at the receiving end. 2 Those cops holding a reporter in Kitwe should be condmned in strongest terms. Madam IG deal with the bad eggs on Copperbelt otherwise thye are scheming your down fall. Journalists are there to gather information and make the public aware of whats happening. Yes there is abuse by bad elements in the Police Service. perhaps President Sata should form a commission of inquiry to look into the operations of the Police Service its one institution which needs cleaning up.
