Southern province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta says the under-development in the province is not the fault of the Patriotic Front but is as a result of the refusal by UPND parliamentarians to work with the government.

Mr. Mwaliteta says he has been to Chikankanta, Pemba and Namwala constituencies but unfortunately none of the parliamentarians have come forward to discuss with him how they can work with government to develop their areas.

He says it is unfortunate that the UPND parliamentarians have refused to work with the Patriotic Front government because of tribal reasons thus punishing ordinary electorates.

Mr. Mwaliteta, who is also PF Kafue Member of Parliament, tells QFM that the PF government will however not stop working to ensure that development is spread to all parts of the country.

The southern province minister says he realizes that if the government relies on the parliamentarians for feedback in their areas, it will be the innocent citizens that will be suffering.

Mr. Mwaliteta says since the Patriotic Front is a party for the poor, it will continue delivering development to the poor in the country, regardless of tribe or any affiliation.

  1. Its a blame game PF are playing now, You are in the hot seat just control things kaili

  2. You have hit the nail on the head. Instead of blaming other people, they have themselves to blame. You can not ask for rain and say I don’t want mud because the two are inseparable.

  3. lets be realistic, what development is there in any other part of the country that is not under UPND? take lusaka for instance which has been under PF for long, what development is there? Go to Kafue where Mwaliteta is an MP, what has he done there other than worsening the hunger situation. The PF govt cant buy cotton, FRA hasnt paid farmers for last season!

  4. sense minister ,tongas lets develop our country don.t do things on tribal lines.one zambia one nation.bembas and tongas stop fighting.and by the way there so many marriages between bembas and tongas

  5. U mukwabo kafue is getting thin and u are getting fat! what development have u brought to kafue, just tell us one.pipo walk to lusaka everyday and now the forest are dipilated becoz everyone is a charcoal burner.don’t annoy us u don’t kafue or southern province, just do yo work failure.

  6. I think in Zambia things are upside down. How do you tie the development of an area to an MP? MPs are supposed to be lawmakers. Each province, constituency, ward, etc must have a development committee to spearhead development. MPs should not be the factor in the development of an area. Obviously, Obvious and his PF government are continuing with the wrong approach of the previous government.

  7. If this is true, government must ignore and bypass the MPs and develop the provinces all the same.

Stop childish blame-games with people’s expectations.

  8. Imwe ba Chimbwi no Plan, u are now using the blame game. Sadly in Zed its only tribal with other tribes & not tribal with Bembas. Just check the PF cabinent..Chikwanda, Mwamba,Kambwili, Sampa,Katema, etc are nt these all Bembas?

  9. Mwaliteta shuold not lie. I was in Chikankata for the last three months. ever since the area was created as a district, there is nothing that his government has done, not even a house for Silvester Simayaba (The District Commissioner). They are just busy yapping and creating ‘more districts, less money money’. The problem we have about our government is that they are good at talking than working. chikankata district was created on January this year but there is no single infrastracture that has been put up upto now. Munji Habeenzu, the area Member of Parliament (UPND ofcourse) is more than ready to work with the government but only God knows what will happen in 2016!

  10. The question to be asked is which area which had PF MPs was developed. These kinds of politicking is what is delaying development because it would appear that area with opposition MPs are deliberately left undeveloped to punish the people for voting for the opposition. We are tied of such politics. PF have the responsibility to develop the whole country, not just copperbelt and muchinga provinces, but the whole country

  11. Thing thing is that let these MP work with gonvt of the day. MPs are representative of the people who voted for them, so let them work period.

  12. PF will blame anyone even UNIP for its fauilures. i feel sorry for your fake 90 days campaign. We will see if in 2016 You will still be talking of days in terms of development..

  13. Sata does not listen to the 16 MP’s in govt so who is to blame?
Come on get real and fix the whole country.
    Not just Bembaland.

  14. # 9 kabbova.
mwaliteta, kazabu, lubinda, inonge wina, simuusa, scott ,Dr phiri.. All these are bembaz? Frustration must be killing u.. Tell us for UPND.. i tell u the Fate of PF lies in Us who gave them power and not you banch of Tribalists.. Some of u will Die hating!

  15. #6 is right. MPs should make laws, and provide oversight on public / development work. They should advocate and not initiate development. Central government,Councils and Parastatals like Zambia Railways should do development work

  16. this guy is deliberately lying or totally ignorant about the role of MPs. devlopment is the solely the job of the executive not parliament as popularly thought. that is why mcs has the audacity to tell southerners that if they don’t vote pf they are doomed. if there is someone to blame its the executive not the useless MPs of UPND

  17. he’s very dull..just look at his face..hahahahaha..where does such tribal talk come from..dullness..

  18. Another poor carpenta blaming his tools !!!! It was last year when I visited Chikankata. State of poor road haunted me. part of the road passing through farm land is negrecated, no tarring it, the farmer should that work. The questions hungs .. who owns the road??? they maize haulled from the area is very useful in Zed development..
