UPND Vice President for Administration Richard Kapita has clarified that controversial veteran politician William Banda is not a Special Adviser to party leader Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr. Kapita stated that the UPND has never appointed Mr. Banda in any special role in the party.
He said assertions that Mr. Banda is now Mr. Hichilema’s Special Adviser is malicious and cheap propaganda to malign the UPND.
“William does not even claim to be adviser, he is busy doing his job organizing the party at grassroots and some sections of the media see it fit to publish lies,” Mr. Kapita said.
He was speaking this morning when he featured on UNZA Radio’s Lusaka Star Programme.
Mr. Kapita said Mr. Hichilema has a special team of elders whom he consults for advice on national and party matters adding that Mr. Banda is not part of that team.
“The bonafide Presidential Adviser is Douglas Siakalima and everybody who cares to know, knows that but some newspapers decides to disregard that and claim that William Banda is HH’s Special Adviser.”

Every Zambian heard it when UPND guys said William Banda was a special advisor to HH. Why denying it now? You were happy to welcome Him and even gave him that post. If indeed you were a marture party you would not have allowed Mumbi and Willy Banda to join you, alass as you are under 5,s you saw it fit to welcome them. You are not serious guys.

If UPND is a dull party then I dont know what to call PF. UPND has not denied the membership of Tekere but they have clarified that he is not a special advisor to HH. They have even acknowledged that he is organising the party at the Grassroots. PF is for party who cant think on their own. There is a saying, anyone who moves with a thief is a thief. It goes to say that by UPND appointing William Banda as Chief Advisor to HH, then HH is a violent person. I knew this was going to happen. It took a little longer than I thought, but indeed it has happened. After getting embarassed by this violent man who has no regards for law and other human beings, they now want to disown him. UPND itself announced that he was special advisor to HH. People did not coin this. May be this is confirmation that all is not well in UPND, clear division. After total collapse of UPND, Banda will move on to join Milupi and help him distroy his one man party. By 2016 Zambia may only have one party, the one that will not entrertain William Banda.
