Newly appointed Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba has vowed not to relinquish his party position as Secretary General of the ruling PF.

Yesterday, FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi advised Mr. Kabimba to respect the constitution and give up his party position.

But Mr. Kabimba said in an interview that he is not abrogating any law by holding on to the two positions.

He said nowhere in the party constitution does it state that he could not be appointed into any ministerial position.

Mr. Kabimba said there is no need for him to give any of his two positions.

“I am a law abiding lawyer and I have not broken any law by holding on to these positions and I don’t have any intentions of relinquishing any of the two,” he said.

“I was elected into the PF Central Committee and President Sata appointed me as party SG and he has again appointed me as Justice Minister and there is nothing wrong with that.”

“For me this is a non-issue.”

Mr. Kabimba has since promised to state his priority areas as Justice Minister once he is sworn in.

    • Kabimba MUST deliver NEW TRULY DEMOCRATIC CONSTITUTION produced by a constitution conference and enacted by parliament without govt interference ( it was a promise within 90days-Where’s it?
Two agendas need speed for Kabimba( 1) Immediately, suspend this barbaric colonial sir Roy  “CONSTITUTION “which continues to breed bad leaders that are heartless, leaders that oppress citizens and the source of our economic exploitation. (2) More urgent too, CHANGING the “GOVERNANCE STRUCTURES and JUDICIAL SYSTEM” that has become a conduit for muzzling people’s democratic FREEDOMS, Opportunities and RIGHTS. Until this constitution is changed, Zambians will continue to fight in cycles for bad governance social-economic abuse, oppression and exploitation by govt.

  1. Excuse me! There is an uncanny myth going around at LT among where claims such as the proclaiming of a booming Zambia’s economy , are one being experienced, I am sorry these are wide off the mark!
Let me educate, pass on my learning and reveal the findings I bumped across whilst doing my Phd here in Glasgow. And please! I am not playing Devil’s advocate, I am just here to force people that refuse to look in the mirror by touching them where it hurts!
Fact, according to transrearach a globally respected, recognised research institution and respected by all the political aficionados , and political giants among them Trump, Clinton, Blair etal.

  2. Zambia remains one of the poorest countries in Africa, They go on, and I quote
‘literacy rate has been improved up to 70 per cent. However there are large problems in public education
especially in rural areas. The building infrastructure is insufficient and there is a shortage in equipment
    as well as teaching material.
The report goes on to say and I quote ‘Zambia, formerly one of sub-Saharan Africa’s wealthiest countries, is now one of its poorest and least developed. The living standards of Zambians are in free-fall and Zambia is now lower placed on the human development index (HDI) than in 1975.
With a life expectancy of just 33 years, Zambians die earlier than people anywhere else in the world.

  3. The Zambian Ministry of Health has said that it expects that half the population will die of AIDS, and roughly half the teachers trained every year die of the disease. 28 The Zambian government is crippled by the massive debt recalled by international financial institutions. Debt repayments are making it impossible to respond to the health, educational and economic challenges facing Zambians.
In 2008, Zambia used 7.35% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ($377 million) repaying its debt. It spends twice as much repaying its debt as it does on education. Zambian students struggle to learn in classes containing 70 pupils on average. Zambia has endeavoured to meet the stringent conditions imposed by HIPC.

    • Mushota, you will do well by stop writing things you have the least information. I can’t understand why you are bitter about Zambia, nor can I understand why you have a complexity issue on education.

If I were you I would just keep quiet and accept who you really are.

  4. The failure to cancel Zambia’s debt in full is having catastrophic consequences for poor Zambians. Current trends suggest not only that Zambia will be unable to meet most of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), but also that it gets further from them as time goes on.
Even now in 2012, it does seem a lot of the public are not quiet fed the truth and the bottom line is, the country’s economy is close to being hijacked by the Chinese, South Africans and anyone who could throw a sweetener to its government
I am sorry these accusations cannot be ignored
    Thanks

    • We don’t have a debt problem. The taxes Kanshashi mine alone pays is enough to service all the remaining inkongole

    • Mushota you will fail your PHD because you are using wrong data. This research outcome is wrong. It is talking about HIPC an issue which was there before 2005 and which the government of Mwanwasa managed to clear. Zambia does not have a debt problem now my friend…..

    • Ba PHD candidate who cant even quote relevant up to date data, please give us a break, we know you reside in kanyama and pursuing a greenwish correspondence certificate. we know You, dont let us embarrass you by revealing your real name

  5. DO YOUR BEST HONOURABLE SIR. AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU. BEST WISHES. BE OBJECTIVE AS USUAL AND IMPLEMENT GOVT DUTIES IMPARTIALLY.

  6. how will manage Hon. Kabimba spending time at the PF secretariat and ministerial office, both of these offices are very busy, I hope we shall not see the ministry office attending to party cadres. Because just handling the secretariat has been busy enough with endless ques of PF members needing the attention of the SG, so combining two functions will really be hard.

    • Kunda served for years as Veepee and Justice minister, Sata was Minister under Chiluba while he was NS of MMD, VJ was government Chief Whip as well as National Secretary etc… Why do you want Wynter to step down? And what law is he breaking?

  7. Mushota,
Point of correction, you are studying BA in Accounts at University of West of Scotland and not Phd. If you are not honest with your qualifications, how will people trust what you say?

  8. THATS  the best decition  uve made.you re a vry hard working man.you will surely make it.Our own Sata made it as MMD General Secretary as well a a Minister without a  potifolio. Katele kaumba mde it too.go winter go

  9. I think honorable Kabimba will do just fine in those positions. Others have done it before. He is very experienced man and shouldn’t have any problem. Let’s give him and the PF gvt the necessary support the derseve in order for our mother to move forward

  10. Where is Democracy here? when people being appointed are those Closer to or in PF. I feel this is  not a good move  because it is definately  that the Judiciary can not function independently.

  11. Greed! It’s unfortunate if he can’t give up one position because of greed & power. The two positions are very demanding which will require him to serve the nation adequately in his ministerial position & at the same time carryout administrative function for his party. It’s not a question of whether it’s illegal or not to hold the two position, but how he’s going to work effectively & effeciently & not mixing up national & party issues whilst drawing a govt salary.

  12. I like what I heard one critic talk about Zambians. Ever criticizing with no solutions rendered to the problem at hand. Tpyical of a Zambians.

  13. Mushota you will fail your PHD because you are using wrong data. This research outcome is wrong. It is talking about HIPC an issue which was there before 2005 and which the government of Mwanwasa managed to clear. Zambia does not have a debt problem now my friend.

  14. Problems when some people jump on an aircraft, they think whoever remains here is dull……Mushota, munakwela mu economy just like getting the Mazyandu bus ,kulibonesha….

  15. Thats being selfish, how do you create jobs if u cant give up one, atleast the SG one. Typical of people who never dreamed of a better future. Such are characters who dont create leaders, they think they are the best, indespensable! Shame…time will prove your failures!!

  16. Kabimba will do well in both positions he has once managed 3 positions. Town Clerk, Husband and Sugar Daddy and he never failed in his duties, then he sired Dick Masebo

  17. Every married man has at least serious positions and both require intense attention, that of your job and the other being a husband, other even extend to be doing businesses and also include my-nini.

  18. Though legally correct, but for transparency and moral-aptitude Wynter needs to relinquish the party position especially that he was just appointed to it. Another PF member can be appointed to run the party.
Holding on to two highly challenging positions that demand undivided attention is not in the best interest of the country.
Besides, correctness does not always have to be related to legal provisions. Where is your conscious in this?

  19. Do not listen to these sycophants Winter. You guys in PF have to ensure you govern this country according to your manifesto. We want a PF landmark permanently imprinted on the Zambian map. Go Winter go

  20. This guy doesnt understand an ounce of clash of interests despite being a lawyer. Sad scenario. Kamimbya is on record denouncing certain clauses in the draft constitution eg running mate. Others we may only speculate. but now that he is SG for PF and justice minister all roads lead to Rome. You dont need to a rocket scintist to figure this one out. But dont worry, posterity and time always has a way of dealing with such rascals.

  21. He need to give up the position of SG or else the party will suffer. You can only be in one place at one time.

  22. According to UNDP’s Zambia Human Development Report of 2011 Zambia’s human development improved in the 2000s, following the decline in the 1990s. At 0.395, Zambia’s ranking on the Human Development Index (HDI) is above the average of 0.389 for Sub-Saharan Africa, and slightly above the average of 0.393 for low-HDI countries. I am mindful of the fact that this improvement cannot be attributed to the PF government. I have not come across a life expectancy of 37 years in the report. So which reports are you reading, Mushota?

  23. Ma jealous bamambala. The SG, now Justice Minister will make it.Those that are against are up to now good.Prophets of doom, they see black where there is white. The SG has managed to keep the party intact even when the party was in opposition under extreme difficulties conditions brought on by the late MMD.

  24. His honor the Minister of Justice and our beloved hard working Secretary General of the Party PF has all it takes to hold 2 positions until when the Party finds a suitable replacement. By the way we have no problem in our Party systems around the country. Our Secretariat is organized and all systems are on go. The Party is glowing while the opposition Parties are getting smaller by day because of their corruption way of life. We have a very well management team ready to deputize on honorable Kabimba without problems. So the honorable continues also as Secretary General.

  25. I’m just interested in numerous pretty good enterprise weblogs to raise the yahoo and google viewer that will be worthy following on an daily cycle. Can you’re making and also ideas? I include Seth Godin’s presently. Thanks a lot!. . It’ll additionally be practical if you ever told me why you appreciated these kind of weblogs..
