Acting Chief Government Spokesperson, Fackson Shamenda, has ticked opposition MMD president, Nevers Mumba, for his conduct of wishful thinking and belonging to the stone-age.
Mr Shamenda says Dr Mumba is preoccupied with a dream to think that he will go to State House because his conduct has reached hallucination levels.
He says the opposition leader’s manoeuvres to use the opposition Members of Parliament (MP) to discredit the Patriotic Front’s (PF’s) 2013 national budget to frustrate the Head of State including the entire government leadership is regrettable.
In a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Shamenda said the Zambian people cannot be hoodwinked by selfish and cheap politicians to frustrate the good intentions of the budget and force general elections prematurely.
Mr Shamenda, who is also acting Minister for Information and Broadcasting Services as well as Social Security Minister, said Government is aware that Dr Mumba has been trying to bully MMD MPs including those from the UPND into doing his bids but good enough the parliamentarians have refused to be dragged into personal fights with everyone.
“Dr Mumba has threatened to use the opposition parliamentarians to derail the 2013 budget when even himself knows very well that he has no capacity on the path of unreasonableness,” he said.
Finance Minister Alexander, Chikwanda on Friday unveiled a K32.2 trillion national budget which has received appreciation from stakeholders including public institutions that have commended the PF Government and its policies.
Mr Shamenda advised Dr Mumba to tone-down on his behaviour as it leads to a man short of attributes of a leader to govern the nation.
“I urge Dr Muma to be patient enough and wait for the 2016 general elections instead of dreaming about short-cuts to State House,” Mr Shamenda said.
The acting Chief Government Spokesperson said Dr Mumba is blinded by his ambition to think that he would go to State House describing the utterances as a child’s dream.

Mr. Shimenda, there are so many issues you can attend to in lieu of enjoying your temporary confusing tasks while your superiors are out on tours. It could be, that office too is too big or may be you need some one to sing songs. Cool down, Mr. Mumba is attempting to enjoy his freedom without fear of usual interjections from the man himself (SATA). Leave Mumba alone, he will soon run out of energy to run around Zambia.
There is nothing wrong with Mumba enjoying his freedoms, but there is something dangerous about deliberately frustrating government efforts. That affects the wholenation, not just PF. Mumba should grow up. Frustrating a country’s progress is not a productive political strategy.

As for retiring age, here in Canada, I work with people who are have retired already and they have continued working and drawing their retirement package at the same time. Are you sure you are in Ireland or Scotland or whereever you are? I visited those areas, gosh, people work till death yabenusha! FYI for your lovely PHD research in demographics,(Canada) we have an issue of baby boomers reaching their retirement age without a matching number of people to take up their jobs, in this case the Canadian government is thinking of rehiring the baby boomers as consultants, whats your advice to the government….

Only # 32 has understood the background of Mr. Shamendas’ response. MMDs’ Mumba was not debating the budget, becuase it was a good budget. In frustration Mumba threatened to ask MMD & UPND MPs who he assumes have no personal opinion, to vote against the budget if HEMCS does not stop appointing opposition MPs to ministerial positions! Is the above scenario brewed by Mumba reasonable just because one hates MCS and PF? Only a very irresponsible leader would make such a threat as the repercussions on the general masses is catastrophic. Nevers Mumba is over excited and over ambitious to the point of sacrificing a good enough budget (there is no perfect budget), just to cause a general election so that he goes to state house! For whose benefit would he be in state house?
Shamenda should not take Parliamentary debates on 2013 Budget outside the National Assembly. Let this dull Minister fight it out with opposition MPs within the bounds of the House of Parliament to defend his Govt’s deception. Do not draw in Nevers Mumba into this PF saga. The debaltes must thrive in National Assembly – not along corridors of bars clustered with beers. Besides, let Shamenda learn to go for his hair-cut.
