The disturbances at the Choma Municipal Council has deepened with Acting Mayor Professor Mwaanga threatening to suspend all council employees who have facilitated the travel of expelled Mayor Jackson Makwamba to Lusaka.

Mr. Mwaanga said it was not right to allow an expelled mayor to use a council vehicle, fuel, driver and a messenger on his private trip to Lusaka.

He said Mr. Makwamba ceased being mayor yesterday when he was expelled by the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Mr. Mwaanga further claimed that the driver and messenger who have accompanied the former mayor will all be suspended upon returning to Choma.

He said stern action will also be executed on other council officers who have availed council resources to the expelled mayor.

  1. I have no argument with Professor Mwaanga. Efyo yaba fye, by law. When one ceases to hold office you are not entitled to use govt resources anymore. Regardless of the political intonations and manouvres behind these developments, we need just look at the blind fact that the man is no longer mayor! Tida…

  2. @Nubian Princess, VJ is alive. Old age catching up with him I suppose. And it is like the ambilical cord with govt has been cut by the PF. Miss him te?

  3. i bet my balls that this gentleman is not a professor but that this is his first name. i know Tongas and their naming habits

  4. Do not rush to suspend the employees, first find out what happened because some information reaching us say the authority was given by the new mayor mr. mwiya mwiya

  5. What is the REAL problem in Choma? It seems people are being installed and expelled just on the basis that somebody doesn’t like you or likes you, not on real performance. Is there any wonder why UPND is still struggling to attract voters outside Southern Province even when PF continues to under-perform. People are watching and Tongas should get rid of their old habit of expelling people just because you don’t like somebody. A mayor is elected – why should he be hounded out of office without conducting another election. What is happening in Choma right now amounts to witchhunting and again Tongas are seen struggling with their national image of liking to kick other people out just because they are not Tonga. It’s destroying HH’s dreams of becoming president. People are watching.

  6. PF government and Sata and his counterpart are the ones causing confusion in Choma they want to install their own man a boot licker
