Faz Super Division side Roan United has handed club head coach Bruce Mwape a two-year contract extension.

Roan chairman Pearson Mwale made the announcement on Wednesday, four days after Roan survived demotion on the final day of the 2012 league season.

Mwale said the Luanshya side was impressed with Mwape’s showing since his engagement earlier in June.

The ex-Nchanga Rangers trainer was handled an initial a six-month contract that expires next month.

“We have given Mr. Bruce Mwape a two-year renewable contract. As his initial six-months contract expires on 31st December,” Mwale said.

“He has shown his commitment. He has brought discipline and balance to the team. We wanted to see his commitment.”
He hailed Roan’s survival.

“In the last two months Roan was the best team in the league. We got a lot of points in the second half of the league,” Mwale said.

“We have already told him to form a formidable team so that we can go back to a time when Roan used to finish in the top three or two.”

Mwape, who is assisted by Kaunda Simonda and Hilary Makasa, took over the Roan bench from Chris Chibuye who was fired in May.

The Kafubu outfit finished 12th on the league table with 35 points from 30 matches.
