Gender Minister, Inonge Wina, has urged Zambians living in Diaspora to always exhibit exemplary behaviour.

Ms Wina said Zambians in Diaspora must be able to sell the country not only as a tourist destination but also to expose the many business opportunities that exist for investors out there to partner with Zambian entrepreneurs.

She said at the time Zambians are in the Diaspora they are good will ambassadors promoting the country’s beauty and the main business opportunities that exist.

The Minister said this in Lusaka today when she received a cheque worth K11 million from Zambians living in Diaspora on behalf of the Mulenga family that recently gave birth to quintuplets.

The donation was made possible by Zambians, mainly from North America, and Canada in particular, the United Kingdom (UK), Australia and Japan.

Ms Wina noted that Zambians in the aforementioned countries learnt of the birth of the first quintuplets in the history of the country and felt that they should be part of the joyous occurrence by making such a donation.

She said Zambians in Diaspora are concerned that many times they are perceived as people who go away and never look back to what is happening in their country, hence their coming together to make this donation as a token of a Christmas good will to the Mulengas.

Ms Wina added that the donation will also demonstrate that no matter where Zambians go they feel like they are still in their own country.

And Joseph Munsange, who presented the cheque on behalf of the Zambians in Diaspora, reiterated that the donation was as a result of the Zambians out there wanting to be part of the occasion.

  1. Don’t worry Bo Wina, we have always behaved well……………otherwise you would have seen mass deportations of Zambians. Some of us represent Zambia even far better than some of the official Ambassadors and High Commissioners you are keeping in our embassies.

  2. You worry about the many damning things done on your side of the many ponds that separate overseas zambians. Are Mmembe,Nchito or Kabimba exhibiting the best face of zambia? Is your govt doing anything to clean the mess that is Lusaka? Are we proud to bring our overseas friends to that filthy dump of Lusaka? I didn’t think so.

  3. and ukazifela ati he did not go there on government business so the government has nothing to do with his remains. sha!

  4. My friend Rasha, while I agree with you with most of your statement, I disagree that lusaka is that filthy. I was there last Xmas, unless I was blinded it looked very fair to me. I didnt see piles of trash and the paid rest rooms were clean. Anyway madam Wina, how about that dual citizenship thing please.

    • Please come back to Lsk and see whether you will have the same view. Haven’t you heard that street vendors help themselves in chibuku packs? There is nowhere to pass; it is proper choas my dear and just to think that the pop of Zambia is only over 13m. I think we can do better than what is happening; Lsk is super dirty and I hope people will not compare it to the dirtiest city they can think of but the cleanest they can think of. We are very few!

  5. The majority of us living abroad have through the strength of God, our families & friends and indeed ourselves, mastered the art of living lives away from home. We mingle with the natives and keep to ourselves whenever necessary. FYI, some of us even steer away from our own people not by choice, but because some of them are too much trouble and are not progressive enough in their minds.
FYI, most of us are aware of the consequences that come with bad behaviour in these foreign lands. We try sa much as possible to abide by the laws of the lands in which we are described as “foreigners”. To that effect, some of us really believe we have made homes away from home thus advocating for dual nationality. Therefore bo Inonge, we in the “diaspora” should be the least of your concerns. Thanks.

  6. The title of your article should have been “Diaspora Zambians give a Christmas gift of 11 million kwacha to the first Zambian quintuplets.” instead of exemplary behaviour. They are always well behaved otherwise they would have been deported already. These repoters change the story from that of a gift of 11 million kwacha to that of behaviour. Get some education!!!

  7. As long our politicians and the entire country behave like a civilized society tourist will have no problem visiting Zambia period.

  8. Yah, some Zambian girls enjoy things. Behave bane. Don’t go back to Zambia with AIDS GUYS. Lets take our education back home and contribute to the development of OUR LOVELY MOTHER ZAMBIA. NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE ENJOY OUT HERE, THE FACT STILL REMAINS THAT “WE ARE ZAMBIANS” AND AS SUCH, WE’VE TO GO BACK HOME.

  9. Oh please! This is rhetoric being exhibited here by bo Wina, a Zambian was found dead in Czech Republic and your govt refused to come in and help, what a stupid govt that neglects its people in the diaspora and yet you still want us to help you create employment which your govt has failed to do. You are just all a bunch of hypocrites. My wish is that we the people in the diaspora are committed to ourselves and look for one another especially in cases were there is death, otherwise ubuteko will leave to rot where ever you kick the bucket!.

  10. The minster here does not have her facts right these are not the first quintuplets, they are the second, i remember having read a story about a family that gave birth to quintuplets some years ago, about 10 years ago and were asking for assistance from government. They were born of a poor family who lived in some farming area, in Zambia.
Secondly as much as the Zambians in the diaspora try to connect the Zambian government with businesses overseas. The Zambian government does not seem to act it seems point less to campaign for our country when no action is done. If that can improve may be it might be something worth while. Look for a better strategy and don’t offer us lip service. This is from experience with the Zambian government.

  11. Disporas, plse just go back to zambia and develop your country.
Slavery was the main thing in Africa years back.
Now again,Africans are following the same whiteman to overseas countries to continue Slavery, what a misery, hahahahaha

    • Jelita, we live in a global village. There is no way all citizens of a country will stay put in their country without moving out and staying in other places in this global village. This also brings economic benefits to our country. What the govt needs is a good system of harnessing ideas and innovations of Zambians living in the diaspora, and helping them when need arises. We are all Zambians!

  12. Bo Inonge Wina please you have brought enough shame to the people of Barotse Land please the least you can do is keep quiet.
If these anyone who needs setting a good example is your Boss Sata whose started a habit of sleeping in PUBLIC one day his sphincter muscles will fail him and will have a TSUNAMI and HURRICANE KATRINA.

  13. This govt has been asked to put dual citizenship in place, but has turned a deaf ear. On what basis does this minister want to engage with Zambians working abroad if the current constitution does not recognize them as citizens. It is about time we elected leaders that are progressives other than these relics we keep recycling. Shame

  14. I don’t need to be reminded by these dinosaur politicians about behaviour who are so out of touch with reality…we have been in diaspora even before you before you formed your party PF… Bo Inonge was touring her constituency a few months back and LT posted photos..what a sad sight it was, the area is still in the dark ages yet she remains mute when Sata directs his buffoon Kambwili to build an expensive useless stadium in the area when essential basics are lacking. Zambia will continue to lose out in human resources due to the short-sightedness of our leaders; how does one example the appointment of Prof. Chriwa at ZRL..another reason why Dual Citizenship should be introduced.
We deserve better than this calibre of leaders today!

  15. Please clear the body of the Czec student, the diaspora guys are bringing him!!! Job well done to those who donated. I didn’t.

  16. Some times its hard to cover up for all the shameful acts of the leaders in Zambia. This part of the world is well informed and are sceptical when a country identifies with corruption and has no level playing field. Make us proud and we will confidently represent you. Zambians are know to be humble, reliable, inteligent and hard working.

  17. #6
They are Clerical Journalists who wait for a politician’s Speech before reporting. They are versed in finding an angle that suits the politician not the masses. Check their reporting. Its always he said she said with very little or no descriptive narratives

  18. When you listen to her speech and the way ZANIS is reporting it, there are two different themes. She was more complementary to us than the media is portraying it. I do understand why Richard Nixon or most USA presidents hates the media. Take time and listen to her speech on FB- 90days, ZAPP or the The Zambian Pact groups or google Zambia Blog Talk Radio

  19. In the name of Our Lord, I thank all those that subscribed to helping that family in our land, I also thank Inonge for a mention. This should be a reminder to those that call us ‘ runaways’. We still love our mother Zed. Please, we need a clause in the constitution.

  20. God bless all who contributed. May you prosper greatly. On dual (or is it duo) I dont understand why so-called security concerns would be a problem for Zambia than they are or have been for those other countries with such?

  21. The most vital thing for zambians in the diaspora is to invest back home and forget this government business. They are a bunch of thieves.

    • Well said Princess. It is none of their business how you behave but the business of those hosting you. If you rub your hosts the wrong way then they will boot you out the way Zed is booting out foreigners.

  22. Huh,you don’t care when we need GRZ’s help at the various zambian embassies and yet you want us to care about the image of a country that doesn’t care about us? I came to Texas on my own and will only do things fit for me.Zambia’s image be damned i could care less and mind you i live in the execution capital of Huntsville,Texas. If it means i’ll be executed by the state of Texas for soiling the name of Zed so be it.

  23. #4 Go back to Lusaka now and see how dirty it is. May be Zambia should introduce dirty or filthy tourism. This will attract foreign tourists to Zambia to see how dirty Zambian towns are. On the main story, I do not need a minister to tell me how I should behave. After all I came here on my own and should anything happen to me it will be the business of my family, my employer and some sympathetic compatriots. I am not a footballer so the Zambian government has nothing to do with me,
