Kitwe residents from Wusakile township protested against erratic water supply and blocked the road leading to the hospital in the area.

Kitwe District Commissioner Elias Kamanga confirmed in an interview the protest which happened yesterday morning and said the situation had since returned to normal.

Mr Kamanga said Nkana Water and Sewerage Company assured the residents the erratic water supply to the area would be resolved.

“The resident ganged up and blocked the road leading to Wusakile hospital but police quickly moved in to control the situation. There was no damage and the protest was peaceful,” he said.

He said the water utility company has contracted water bowsers to ferry water three times per day to the area as an interim measure.Mr Kamanga said sinking boreholes in the area was not feasible because
of active mining but plans were underway to sink some in Chamboli township which would enable water to be channeled to Wusakile.

  1. I stand to be corrected…don’t we have over 75% of all fresh water in Southern Africa? If so, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??????????????????

  2. Pipo lshould make up their minds. One time they want water and then mealie meal. they want good hospitals. they want roads. and they want children to go to good schools. its better they choose one.

    • All these are problems facing the ordinary people back home you dunderhead. You can’t ask them to choose one problem and neglect the other. Ati choose one, ulichipuba?

  3. Dojo Do #1, my sentiments exactly. I once visited a friend with a residence by the Zambezi in Livingstone – AND HIS TAPS WERE DRY!!! There is so much broken in that country it is not even funny. People are simply playing politics with every single thing they can use to twist gullible residents’ minds.

  4. Zambia has never experienced any coups but i do not think dictator Sata and his minions will survive any coup that comes if he continues this dangerous path of taking Zambians backwards.

Honestly he can not survive this. No matter his IDI AMIN style of governance.

Every Zambians is against Sata and his PF. Zambians hates Sata with a great passion of his dictatorship

    • Sata does not run the water and sewerage company, iam sure there is some CEO with a bunch of degrees and engineers who cannot bring piped water from the kafue into pipos homes!! we are not asking them to make water! God did that! the problem in zambia is even education has failed to change the mind set and work culture,it doesnt matter who yuo put in state house, the bulk lies at our individual responsibility. so save your hatred for sata and give the water company some avdise if you have any!

  5. Why are we living Like this. Yes we are ediots who hate each other. Dogs are better than us bcause they reconcile within a day and tomorrow they share a meal. We are realy bad people. Why are we livin like this yet we have fresh water every where. Ediots. Ian realy upset of myslf right now.

  6. This is caused by the Opposition working with all those managers and CEOs they put in those Companies so that people of Zambia start seeing PF as a failed Govt, with a predetermined ideas that there could be a flesh election in order to get Sata out of State House at all costs. That’s why Sata is always saying that there are a lot of people in these Companies that are frustrating Govt efforts because their loyalty is to the previous Govt and some small opposition parties. But its not them to suffer but its even their relatives in those communities. Its high time the PF Govt chucked them out for the sake of Mother Zambia to continue with peace and prosperity.

  7. I hail from Kitwe..was visiting my mother in Martindale ,Kitwe during the period July-November awe shuwa the situation was pathetic..water would come at 6 am by 8 ninshi ya yenda…back at 19 (nga muli na mwai) then 21 futi ninshi yayenda..i believe it has sumthing to do with old infrastructure..the utility company shud not make false promises and shud be ‘straight’ with the customers..anyway rumour has it they have obtained some funding from cooperating partners..but im not sure that will be enough to replace the whole system..till then awe shuwa limbi kwimba fye ifishima

  8. May be getting back abasungu to be CEOs of these companies, clearly we cannot run our own affairs! kukasabanafye! I have been in this part of the world for some years now , I even lived in what they call their villages, water and electricity going is next to impossible may be it would, if they had a natural disaster! they work arround the clock to ensure vital services are provided, kanshi what is wrong with AFRICA? and Zambia in particular.
