Five Opposition political parties have cancelled their rally which was scheduled to be held tomorrow in Lusaka’s Mtendere township.

UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has confirmed the cancellation to ZNBC News in a telephone interview.

Mr. Lifwekelo says leaders of the Five political parties are currently held up in a consultative meeting at the UPND Secretariat to strategizing on the way forward.

The five opposition political parties are UPND, MMD, United Liberal Party, Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) and Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM).

Mr. Lifwekelo says the leaders will also craft a new Notice to be resubmitted to the Police.

Meanwhile, Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa says by ten hours this morning, the opposition political parties had not yet resubmitted their notice.

  1. Ati the five political parties are currently held up in a consultative meeting at the U5 Secretariat to strategizing on the way forward!kekekeke What strategizing these dullard chaps have no plan!!!

    • If you live in Zambia and read papers you would not make such a stupid statement. Your president is a dictator schooled by Mugabe.

  2. This is time for development not for rallies. These police women are good pipo. They have made these boys cry. Wynter Kabimba is doing a great job. This is a good type of democracy. Politics should be done this way, Viva Libongani; Viva Kasosa. Next up Given Lubinda…… Punish him

  3. Ye, collecting themselves around HH, good. May be HH will now get what he wants, to be the leader of other political parties. But what a weird way, MMD with the larger number of MPs now parading under HH whose number of MP ever keeps going down election after election! The leader of the opposition ought to be the leader of MMD, Nevers. Its as natural as that. Is MMD broke that they now have no self confidence to lead the other opposition parties!!?? Whatever is by planned by the so called coalition for a joint rally is temporary. I can see alot of faulty lines in this supposed coalition. May be a headless chicken in the presentation. I have never known a headless chicken alive though.

  4. And if the the police next time you need a permit takes you for clowns that you are you cry police state, dictator. Is this five or two political parties? All I see is MMD and UPND. This also sounds like the usual PACT that HH wants to lead. I feel sorry for the opposition being led by an under 5, tribal, Tonga political party. Did the police even deny these guys a permit in the first place or is it political points agains?

  5. The dictator is really woking hard to put down the opposition. His final calamity will be shameful and his family will not even occupy the house he’s putting up for himself.

  6. Lifwekelo and Siulapwa. Kandiles! Surely the opposition should have more credible persons to organise them into a united front or have all credible people defected/ are disillusioned. Using Siulapwa and Lifwekelo is a mark of irresponsiblity, disorganisation and lack of seriousness on the part of oppostion

  7. Oppositions are wasting Zambian people precious time, you are all time wasters no wonder you are failing to write proper request later for your rally to the police.

  8. Be wise and focus on reorganising your parties.
    Rallies are for general elections.
Try to enlist as many members as possible.
    Unwise men.

  9. 5 opposition parties failed to fill in a form correctly? Ke ke ke ke

Oh it was done at the UPND secretariat! No wonder! Can anything sensible come out of the UPND premises?

I even wonder why oposition parties have continued to hold their meetings there. Why not rotate. Is it slowly becoming the leader of opposition? Or is it beause some of the so called opposition are run from bedrooms and have only one member (the president)?

  10. After spending many years ordering people and police what to do with no questions asked, people like Sikota thought they were untouchable, that’s why they have even forgotten how to do things using proper procedures which have to be followed. This only shows how dis-organised the opposition is, how do agree to a meeting without knowing the purpose of the meeting? Sikota should not even complain, he knows how the laws works, you cannot leave out words on the contract and expect people to guess what you are trying to say. This is the worst opposition since 1991, UPND should take the lead and try to convince the nation that they are capable of leading the nation not only one province. MMD is on a downward spiral, it will be months before the tornado passes.

  11. AFTER MAKING SCREAMING HEADLINES THAT THEY WILL HOLD THE RALLY EVEN WITHOUT POLICE PERMIT, THE POOR OPPOSITION ARE NOW LOOKING LIKE PUPPIES WITH THEIR TAILS BETWEEN THEIR LEGS.

  12. It’s so unbelievable that people can rejoice and think that leaders of 5 opposition parties can fail to write a document,it is actually folly to think like that, Every fool must understand that The Zambia Police Service is compromised and not independent, they have been ordered to ensure there are no forms of political gatherings in Zambia except those of the ruling parties so these parties are not full of fools, the fools are people here on LT rejoicing and on the streets and homes of Zambia, shame how you tolerate such dictatorial tendencies. You must be at least proud that the opposition party members are really restraining themselves by not protesting or looting when denied permits. There is no state of emergency and people have the right to gather not just before elections.

  13. Am sure some chaps are happy that the weekend rally has been cancelled. infact credit should go to the leaders of the opposition parties who have seen through the dictatorship of the pf. people would have died unneccessarily. the pf police are simply brutal, uneducated with blind loyalty.

  14. PF YOU WILL NOT RULE FOREVER,WHERE IS UNIP. SAMWENI BA KOLWE! YOU WILL RETURN TO OPPOSITION ONE DAY.YOU WILL NOT RULE FOREVER BA KAPOLI.AND YOU FI UNEDUCATED BUJU NO WONDER YOU LIVE IN HOUSES WHICH ARE NOT EVEN HABITABLE FOR PIGS.YOU USE YOUR SKULLS AND NOT YOUR BRAINS TO THINK.
