Herve Renard has defended his team’s performance in Saturday’s loss away to Tanzania.

Tanzania beat Zambia 1-0 in a friendly played at the National Stadium in Dar-es-Salaam.

“I accepted this game because sometimes you can’t refuse a nice invitation,” Renard said.

“The most important thing was to see how the young players will perform.

“Yesterday we were missing 12 players that means yesterday’s game was not significant.”

Christopher Katongo, James Chamanga, Isaac Chansa, Chisamba Lungu and Felix Katongo all featured in the friendly.

Missing were the European-based quartet of Jacob Mulenga, Emmanuel Mbola and Emmanuel Mayuka.

All the South African-based players including Collins Mbesuma and Kennedy Mweene did not travel with the team due to league commitments in midweek.

  1. THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE. SINCE WINNING THE AFCON, WE HAVE BEEN FALLING AND FALLING. WE ARE EVEN LUCKY TO BE AT AFCON 2013. DISAPPOINTING

  2. This coach is fake. He is a chancer of the highest order. Bonnetti did the home work for AFCON 2012. Watch 2013 first round exit

  3. … and some guys who watched commented that Zambia were brilliant. Mukuka, Munyau, Felix, Kasonde, Sunzu, where the most praised players.

  4. What about Kampamba Chintu? What is he bringing to the national team when he is clubless and out of sorts?Mr Renard pls be serious by coming up with a proper Zambia XI.We have the material.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  5. Are you soccer fans or supporters! This is exactly the way it was en route to winning the maiden AFCON. Please friendly games are just as such “friendly game”. You were saying the same thing when we were drawing with Namibia last year when preparing the AFCON 2012. Now you are saying the same things again. We do not learn anything in Zambia.

  6. HR you were playing a weak team you don’t need those international based players….why didn’t use all the players you have used in past friendlies????????????????????

  7. Good friendly and an opportunity to play a team at that level becoz at AFCON  chipolopolo will play teams of similar calibre such as Ethiopia and Sierra Leon, so good practice and one can only hope worthy lessons were picked up.

  8. Ba john we are supporters whenever it comes to Zambia. We are fans when we watch La liiga and fimo fimo ku bulayaa. During the last Afcon we didn’t lose to small teams like Tanzania. Renard must wake up. Ca c’est tres terrible Monsieur Renard!

  9. 1 & 2, I totally agree with you. We have a sangwapo coach and my heart sinks when I look at how we will be humiliated at the AFCON in South Africa
The best we can do for ourselves as a nation is find another coach before its too late.
Our current national team coach is FAKE

  10. This was a good practice game. A bad result at this stage is only when we fail to identify our weaknesses and solutions to the observed weaknesses. We as Zambians should have by now understood the way HR approaches friendly games. Most of the time he draws if he doesn’t lose them but, more importantly, he becomes more educated on how not to lose in bigtime games. Go HR, go Chipolopolo, go Zambia !

  11. HR is an opportunist – who when he falls in well he asks for a tablet of soap.
how can u say it was young prayers wen yo captain and his china fellows were there; mazembe guyz – by the way we ar talking of tazania who hav 3 digits on fifa rankings

  12. its always hard to reason out wit HR. thats why u like felix for watever reasons. but all said and done eyes on the ball – lets go zed and defend it so we can play spain at confenderation in brazil next year

  13. I will wait to the day when our fans will become objective instead of being gullible and being blind hero worshipping zombies!!

  14. “Missing were European based quartet of Jacob Mulenga, Emmanuel Mbola and Emmanuel Mayuka”….english LT “quartet” means 4 (four)

  15. #17 Steel, you are wrong again, “Quartet” in Zambia means a group… I have read this several times on this website.

  16. The problem with Renard is his inability to read the game. His technical know how is seriously doubted. He doesn’t know when to substitute a player and even when he does so, the substitutes have no impact on game changing.

  17. I do agree with the coach. This Dar game was not about breaking legs before AFCON. Some of you guys have no clue what this games barely 20 days to go means. This games are to check the ‘system, combination and maintain the fitness before AFCON. If chipolopolo hammered Taifa star 10 -Nil and get beaten by Ethopio in AFCON, I would call this bad preparation. The thing abput AFCON you have to peak at the right time. I have bought ticket for all Zed games coz I know they will not disappoint…

  18. FRIENDLY ARE THERE TO TEST SOME PLAYERS AND IDENTIFY MISTAKES . THAT IS WHAT HR DID . HE KNOWS SOME PLAYERS PLAY WELL SO HE DIDNT TEST THEM. WE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE ADVOCATING FOR ANOTHER KALABA. SO COACH USES THE TANZANIA TEAM TO ASSES SOME PLAYERS THEN YOU ARE STILL COMPLAINING.

  19. I personally do not like losing especially to teams like Tanzania. However, if Renard and Co can learn their lessons from the losses then the friendlies are bearing forth the desired results. There is a danger that if we keep on winning, it will get into our head and make us big headed. We should always remember that we are mere mortals and such losses reinforce that reality. What do others think?

  20. The big question is, why is HR always using Chisamba in defence? the goal TZ scored was due to poor defensive formation. I also agree the coach is banking on the skills of the players not on his tactics. Otherwise there is no excuse for the lose to TZ.

  21. Cool your nerves down Ba Zambia this was just a friendly game, don’t you want to see your neighbor happy? come on guys lets us be happy cause we have beaten the champion of africa. seriously let me tell you Ba zambia, you don’t have to worry your team is very good and i can see you retain the cup, look what you got Ethiopia, burkinafasso and super chickens you can beat all these teams and then you start taking one game at a time cause the knockout stage is very unpredictable but you will go thru group stage with no big problem, thats what i believe neighbour. dont worry about nigeria ( super chickens) is just a name and they have inexperience team.:)>-
