Movement for Multiparty Democracy interim National Secretary Kapembwa Simbao has called on all members of the former ruling party to support party president Nevers Mumba.
Mr. Simbao said it was saddening to see some frustrated members of the party causing confusion in the MMD.
He said some members were behaving that way due to their frustration after they lost during the party’s provincial convention which was held last year.
Speaking yesterday on the “The Assignment” programme on MUVU Television last night and monitored by ZANIS in Lusaka, Mr. Simbao said Dr. Nevers Mumba was voted for genuinely by party supporters.
He wondered why some members were now calling for the resignation of the party president.
Mr. Simbao said the former ruling party was going to rise to the challenge and be able to win people’s support because it means well when it talks about putting its house in order.
He said MMD will be rejuvenated to the surprise of those who were wishing the party to go in oblivion after losing to the ruling Patriotic Front Party during the 2011 general elections.
He stated that this was time for the former ruling party to work extremely hard and win people’s hearts before the 2016 general and tripartite elections.
And Mr. Simbao said this was time for the young generation to take over political leadership and help develop Zambia.
He said bickering in MMD will not help the party.
He has since called on all supporters of the ruling party to work as a team in order to consolidate the party ahead of future assignments.
Meanwhile, Mr. Simbao said his party was going to take contest the Mpongwe and Livingstone by-elections which have arisen following the resignations of respective Members of Parliament from their parties.
He said MMD would be delighted with whichever opposition party will win the two vacant parliamentary seats.
He said the opposition was there to provide checks and balances to the ruling party.
Mr. Simbao said Zambian politicians should emulate the democracy which was existing in America which has reached an advanced stage in the manner it handles its national affairs.
Meanwhile, interim MMD National Secretary Kapembwa Simbao dismissed reports that the entire MMD district executive in Northern Province had passed a vote of no confidence in Dr. Mumba.
Mr. Simbao alleged that some people organised six district chairpersons from Northern province and forced them to read the statement they presented with a view to make it look like the entire district executive in that province had passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the party president.
He said the rest of the members in the province have called the secretariat to dispute the statement they heard in the media saying they were not part of it.

SIMBAO IS TOO MUCH OF A GENTLEMAN FOR A SECRETARY GENERAL OF MMD. MMD IN ITS CURRENT POSITION IT REQUIRE A CRAFT, AND SOMEHOW VOCAL TO ATTRACT AND DEFEND THE PARTY.

This is the taste of what Mumba can do to the country. Whem Mumba took office, the MMD had problems with the registrar’s office and with their rival PF. United they stood to fight their competitors. Today, MMD is in disarray. Mumba is not able to face his challengers and competitors as equals. The fight has become an in-house conflict. Things fall apart. The centre cannot hold. When the SG starts admonishing people to support his president, he is announcing to the world that Mumba is not supported internally. If Mumba cannot manage MMD and appeal to his own people, how will he lead the nation?
The dowwn fall of Mumba started when he ordained and sanctioned the mmd die hard group led by …is it Bowman or something? they dragged, beat up and assorted Kachingwe and the pastor said, “Kachingwe got what he deserved” Many of us did not expect the man of God to say that. Zambians as Christians are still waiting for the pastor to denounce the violent attacks on Kachingwe and to preach forgiveness and reconciliation …this is what the pastor should do and not the crap of Zambia Christian Nation shall be save posted on zwd before Christmass

Nevers Mumba has never been a good leader; too arrogant for a leader. He speaks sense in the first 3minutes of his speech; after that he becomes a sounding gong; empty drum. Listen to him carefully.

Mr Simbao if you want us to support Nevers, Please follow the constitution of the party when dealing whith party issues.Sort out the dual membership of Nevers. Follow the constitution In Kachingwes case.Let that Nec be loyal to the party not to Nevers.
