Zambia’s President Michael Sata has said that the PF Government will soon launch the Pave Zambia 2000, which is the first of its kind and scale in Zambia.

According to the statement released to the media by State House, the President said that the central aim of Pave Zambia 2000 project will be employment creation and full repair of major urban roads countrywide.

President Sata said that the Government will this year accelerate the implementation of the industrialization and job creation strategy.

The president said that the plan will be aimed aimed at transforming the economy with the centre of attention being on sectors with high employment creation potential such as agriculture, tourism, construction and manufacturing.

“These sectors have the highest requirement for labour and labour intensive projects as well as the potential to be highly competitive and thus encourage growth, employment, value addition and ultimately expand the country’s economic base,” the Head of State said.

The project will encompasses segmented paving and cobbles of approximately 2000 kilometers of urban roads which are in poor condition requiring rehabilitation in all the 10 provinces.

President Sata underscored his Government’s desire and resolve to improve the road infrastructure through the implementation of the on-going Link Zambia 8000 road project in the country as enshrined in the PF manifesto.

The President further said that, to date, about 12,850 road sector jobs have been created countrywide.

The Head of State expressed confidence that his administration was on course in implementing campaign promises.

President Sata reiterated the Government’s commitment to creating a better Zambia for all by providing inspirational and visionary leadership to the nation and promoting inclusive governance.

Thats the man. We know Kaunda was derailed by two things (1) Liberation struggles (2) His overstay in power. Now is the time for another man with boldness to develop Zambia. Its all in our heads but we are derailed by trivialities. We know what we aspire for but derailed by corrupt thinking. Its no point always being an opposite to reality. The opposition parties can oppose well by supporting those in power and then strategise for the next general elections. but meanwhile support the one in leadership. Being in opposition does not mean opposing like a foreigner who does not need development for the country. Every day arguing like Armsterdam will not unite us as a people, the guy won’t be there and he will keep loughing at us for underdevelopment. Lets support nobble action by PF.

I have seen rich and knowledgeable Grade 4 (four)s and have also seen poor but educated misfits, drunks who are merely employees and canot think outside of the box to become as rich as the uneducated. The educated ones can fail in election but the so called uneducated ever ascend to Republicant Presidency. Where is the intelligence and wisdom of the educated? We are all born with different gifts. Check where you are and what you are doing it may be fit for Grade 4 than you.

Education is not everything. Some educated fellas spiral down to uneducated level in deeds but good at parroting stuff. Don’t misunderstand education is good definately. But some educated fellas are no better than the uneducated. How do you explain the fact the the educated one scheme plans and action to squeeze the poor more and more. In FTJ reign the privatised, retrenched, prunned, rationalised, brought new economic dispensation, name it, all high sounding words, but what did they do to mother Zambia. Where are they now after stealing whilst we were watching, hoping they are educated and doing the best. Their behaviour is no different from the common man in the street. Their brains spiralled down to corruption, pilfering and stealing, leaving us pot holes in roads and we watched them.

After spending a painful 2 weeks in Zambia with family and Nick, I was extremely surprised on why most children were looking at him, Why are people shocked at seeing a Whiteman close up?
I also got disturbed when we went to a Tavern where I was having soft drinks keeping myself near Nick’s left arm so people know he was with me to only be shocked by seeing people eating Nshima in a Tavern. There are times when you get embarrassed being your own colour, tribe and refuse to get affiliated with wrongs. The club was noisy and the floors dirty unlike here in Scotland.
We also went to the a High class pub in Lusaka People were loud, kept looking at me all the time, and Nick looked uncomfortable and we left O’Hagans I think at Woodlands
    Terrible Thanks

Mushota, what does your comment have to do with the price of eggs. Zambia will not develop by cheap criticism. Someone once said a problem is not a problem unless it has a solution. Don’t criticize void of a solution. We are in Zambia not Scotland, Africa not Europe.

We have a major task as Zambians to rebuild our nation and unless you play your part, development will not come at the pace we want it to. Gather what you have learned and earned in Scotland and come and build your country.

While the plan to keep our youths busy is not a permanent one, it is definitely a step in the right direction. Until we find a more lasting solution to our problems, lets work with what we have.

#Just Saying. I strongly object to your open insult against people of Chilubi Island and District. Chilubi Mission is one of the oldest in Zambia being established in 1903 and chilubi people have been close to white people since that time. It is nothing special. How dare you show your cheap ignorance in this manner. Chilubi produced the first Zambian Catholic Bishop. It has produced all manner of professionals and business men. If you have any morals or ethics you should apologise.

We shall revert to nine provinces when the “Butcher of Chawama” leaves State House. The creation of Muchinga Province is just a strategy to develpe the Butcher’s place of origin. Mobutu tried it. Today his birthplace Gbadolite which was covered in splendour with mables is a sorry site in ruins.

Jay Patel, I do not know if you own a shop in Lusaka. The last thing I would expect from most of you Zambians of Indian origin (and who own shops) is the criticism of the President on cleaning up Lusaka. For starters I do not see why you expect sata to be the one t clean up the City. The man has employed people to do that kind of work, he has concilors, District officials, ministers, and the ranks can go on. He doesnt control the funds. He does not say who gets what money, he only signs documents. So why he would have to come and clean Lusaka beats me, especially when we have shop owners like those of your relatives (and currently Lebanese and Chinese) who can even agree to put tarmac on the areas where they make money…… Do you expect the President to come and clean up that mess? Pliz!

Link Zambia 8000, Pave Zambia 2000, Build 12,000 houses for Ministry of Home Affairs… These projects will cost Zambia not less than USD9 billion. Where will the money come from? Gvt is saying nothing about the revenue side. They are not talking about the re-introduction of windfall tax on mines?? Just where will money come from??

Iwe chi wabwino, revenue collection has trebled even without windfall tax. Bushe ni news yakwisa musoma? The country now is collecting huge sums of money from the mines because of loop hioles which were sealed such as evasion of tax by under declaring copper exports to Switzerland. Zambia has even been accredited for transparency in copper revenue collection since last year. Mwalilala bane, bukeni.

I shudder to imagine what will happen to Zed when the national coffers dry up. The issue of benefiting from the mines appears to have, unfortunately, hit a snag big time. The powers that be appear to have developed cold feet on this issue to the extent that we stand with our hands tied to our backs when our diminishing resources are being plundered with impunity at our expense and sadly, environmental degradation. Isn’t time we got serious for our posterity’s sake? Can somebody please explain why we have always been in a position of weakness when it comes to negotiating a piece of what is rightfully ours?

Oh Zambians… the government says they will do something and you are already congratulating them, isnt this the same government that proposed the 90days plan? Dont be so easily convinced, hold your tongue and watch and see whether this plan will actually happen. then you can go ahead and congratulate the president.

I hope these pronouncements by the President are not meant to divert attention from the arbitrary arrests of opposition leaders and the high prices of mealie meal. The President should concentrate on developmental projects and forget about harassing those with opposite views. Such things are making the President unpopular. Mwanawasa forgot about the insults of Sata (now President) and concentrated on improving the economy. He let Sata do his criticism and worked hard to improve the economy. I would be happy if the President did the same. Concentrate on fulfilling your promises Mr President. Let the opposition do their work for a health democracy.
