The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says it stands ready to embarrass President Michael Sata to the international community.

UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma says if the Patriotic Front government does not stop violating human rights, his party will further engage the African Union and the United Nations.

Mr. Kakoma says the PF government should get used to the opposition holding press conferences in other countries stating that the Johannesburg press conference was just the beginning of more of such to come.

Speaking at a media briefing at the party secretariat this morning, Mr. Kakoma says there is nothing wrong with a political party holding press conferences in foreign countries.

He states that as long as the Patriotic Front government continues to intimidate the opposition, opposition political parties will use any available platform to reach out to the international community in voicing out on the intimidation suffered under the PF rule.

And special advisor to the party president, Douglas Siakalima says there is nothing wrong that the opposition did by speaking out on what is truly happening in the country.

Mr. Siakalima says it is entirely up to President Michael Sata and his government to bring back sanity to the country by ensuring that there is tolerance amongst all political players in the country.

So my question is if opposition is denied to meet people of Zambia, how are they going win their hearts??? sometimes i feel like resigning from Zambia because people fail to reason properly.
      Secondly, just before elections, PF officials went round all embassies discrediting MMD, you even saw that on news. so for opposition to do so is childish but for PF you commended them. I dont know who has bewitched this beautiful country and to make things worse..all Pentecostal Bishops are fast asleep but only singing prosperity messages. i think i will just resign from Zambia.

Once a leader in government will one day rise and say ” there’s only one country,one people, one Zambia, one tribe and that tribe is called Zambia, things will begin to change.     • @taandable am not suggesting that other tribes cannot rule Zambia, Zambia belongs to all the tribes. At the moment Sata is in charge. He wants to include all pipos in the govt. However certain pipo are so bitter booz they never thought Sata will one day rule. If pipe like HH doesn’t change then there is a problem. HH doesn’t want to work with sata. He condemns nearly everything sata does. Tell me how many bembas or even easterners are there in UPND? No one likes war and I was not suggesting anything to do with war. Am simply saying that HH doesn’t like sata and he encourages all his party not be chosen as ministers in the govt. But the constitution allows the president to choose from any MP from any party.

  55. Continue wasting your resources on one person, 2016 is not very far !. UPND should wake up, the grudge they had against Sata before the election should be over. Sata is the president of the country no matter what they say or do, it will not change anything. They should focus their energies on the voters and come up with policies which people can relate to, not duplicates from other parties. HH should get rid off these feather weight politicians he calls special advisors and bring in heavy weights who have been in the game longer and know how to come up with one or two strategies which can swing voters on their side. The guys he has now are just clowning, Chanda Chimba tried this embarrassment plot and it failed. Do you think changing the venue will have any impact? I don’t think so!

This is an ironical statement isn’t? Its good in that Government has a measurement mechanism in the ongoing ethnic tension and can stop it. Offer leadership somebody please! GBM has recently been making positive statements in this regard. Can government leaders please join him? We currently lack direction as a nation in the area of unity.   64. I feel sorry for UPND and its members. They are completely lost, losing direction every day. Bravo Mr. President SATA for keeping quiet from such unfruitful criticism. You deserved winning these elections alike the HH and Nevers of this world. My only advise to you Mr President SATA and your government, just ensure that you deliver as people expects you before the end of this five years and the HH, Nevers will rot in opposition.

  66. I think its ok holding press conferences anywhere but at the end of the day, who is listening, Zambians, South Africans or what? Sata used to go into villages and talked to the Zambian people and he won their hearts, but I wonder what HH and Pst. Nevers are trying to achieve going outside the country. I would prefer they start going into townships, villages in Zambia so that the Zambian people can hear them. Even if they are not allowed to hold rallies there are other means they can use. Let all kind of youth organizations in colleges, universities, religion, sport, social groups, let them lead the way out of this simmering ethnic volcano, especially between Bembas and Tongas. You the youth will suffer the consequences a decade, maybe 2 decades from now, if u just sit there and do nothing. U re the Joshuas after the moses.   69. My humble appeal is that we respect democracy and rule of law. Opposition Parties please respect the electorate. We gave mandate to one Party to rule till 2016. Jealous down and patiently wait for your turn. Campaign peacefully,lawfully,sober-mindedly and vigorously to change the minds of voters in your favour. The foreigners you are addressing are not voters. Knowing African politics even you when you come in power will be mistreating the Opposition. Love your neighbour and pray for your enemies. Leave it to us voters when time comes we will tell whether we have been misruled for you to come in. Give your friends chance by cooperating with them for now.

  70. A President of any country whether young or old, educated or not is the father of nation. And as such he must be accorded respect whether we like him or not. That’s what God demands of us “for there’s no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God”. Therefore, leaders of opposition parties and the citizenry at large should be very careful with their statements and their attitude towards national leaders.

    Who among you readers can publicly say that he will embarrass his biological father because of certain issues he does not agree with him? Only a fool can do that. Some people despite knowing that their parents are witches and wizards they never go public to embarrass them, why? They are their parents and they respect them.

    My advice to opposition political party leaders is come up with a mature way of addressing a number of national issues as opposed to issuing embarrassing statements. We need a mature opposition that would inspire confidence in the citizenry. We have a lot of issues that need addressing. Focus on these and people will judge and who knows you may even end up at plot 1. Forget about embarrassing one another in public. You are adults and what type of generation would leave behind with such statements?

  73. The comments by those jumping to criticize Tongas when this is nothing about tribe but rule of law are planting seeds of violence. This is how countries have gone to civil war. Like it or not what Sata is doing – awe – aya saana. I am Bemba but what I see in my country is bad. I am not UPND but I can agree to holding press confrences outside the country if the internal country freedom is carteled.

    UPND may be going nowhere near forming government, but to attack them and deny them freedom to speak is sin of the highest order and must be condemend. So PF people, use your heads and not your hearts. We are living in the worst dictatorship ever in Zambia. Kaunda, Chiluba, Mwanawasa and Banda are all Angels compared to Sata.
