Zambia Under-20 boxing coach Kennedy Kanyanta says he is excited to be appointed head coach of the senior national team.

Zambia Amateur Boxing Federation (ZABF) on Wednesday named Kanyanta as the new senior national team trainer.

In an interview with LT Sports, Kanyanta said he was grateful to ZABF for giving him the mandate to drill the senior team.

“It is a great challenge that requires sacriface,” Kanyanta said.

“It is not a one-man show so I have to work with other coaches.

“I am grateful to ZABF who have shown confidence in me.”

Kanyata will be assisted by Dennis Zimba of Green Buffaloes Boxing Club.

The charismatic trainer coached the Zambia Under-20 team that won team gold at the 2012 Zone Six Youth Games in Lusaka last December.
