I can feed Sakeni and his family for the rest of their lives-Saunders

Daunte Saunders speaking at the UPND news conference

Outspoken political activist Dante Saunders has advised Chief Government Spokesman Kennedy Sakeni not to insult individuals and organisations that criticize the PF government’s governance style.

Mr. Saunders said Mr. Sakeni should reflect on some of his latest outburst against innocent citizens and individuals that criticize the PF’s way of running the country.

“You go and tell Sakeni, we don’t hate PF, infact some of us campaigned for the PF. All we want is for our children and our woman to live decent lives which we know is possible if this country was better governed.”

He said Mr. Sakeni’s accusations that those criticizing the PF are frustrated and bitter because they have not been allocated jobs by the government is ridiculous.

“Please tell Sakeni that I don’t need a job infact I can feed Sakeni and his entire family for the rest of their lives. I surely can’t expect Sakeni and his PF to give me a job because I don’t need a job,” Mr. Saunders said.

He also warned opposition leaders that he will not hesitate to criticize them when they form government and start departing from their promises to the people.

“For me it’s all about the people. Why should we continue living in townships without water, high food prices and no roads? I will also attack whoever next forms government as long as the plight of our people is not improved.”

Mr. Saunders was speaking in Lusaka yesterday during a UPND news briefing held at the party headquarters in Rhodespark.

Chief Government Spokesman Kennedy Sakeni recently rubbished Mr. Saunders’s recent attacks on the PF accusing him of bitterness after the government failed to award him with a job for having supported the PF campaigns.

Saunders, much as you want others to be humble and be level headed, you have no right to unleash insults on leaders or other citizens.

Since you have the means, why not share your ill-gotten wealth that had been laundered through fronts with street kids.

Sakeni is not asking you to take care of his family

Has HH poisoned you leaving you senile and dysfunctional?

@ SISI – Have some self-respect. Do you actually know who Dante Saunders is, or you are just one those PF a.r.s.e.h.o.l.es who go around shouting even when it is things that are beyond their intelligence. Keep your gob to yourself. We want intelligent debate, not blockheads like you. LT is not a PF vuvuzela. If you want a PF vuvuzela, set up your own PF site where you can be showering praise on PF all day and night – and then we will see how many people will actually be visiting your site. S.t.u.p.i.d *****. You are bloody dumb and a failure in life, that is why you can’t even understand what Dante is saying. In that case, shut up!

Surely, Saunders showed so much wisdom in the past and was highly respected across the country, until he started associating with the birdbrained HH.

I hope Saunders realises this soon or he risks becoming HH’s useful idi0t

Check your first sentence and tell mean what you mean. Am right now in Europe and actually in the richest country of Europe. Education is compulsory, education here started around 1200. They support and encourage continous education till death, only education will give you the job you want. Mind you there is no corruption like in Zambia in Europe. Do not be mislead, if you want to be comfortable and respected in life get educated. A man’s mark is seen by how much education they have attained in life. Education will enable you understand, analyse and have better judgement over things unlike just commenting for nothing just because you have a mouth and able to read and count up to 10.

Why him when there is a government that can and is supposed to do it. One filled with so many leakages of money they always have a problem like the money wasn’t used or the money was misappropriated or the contractor is sub standard. The point is that GRZ, if run the way it is supposed to could do a lot to sort a lot of these problem. But in a time when there are more deputy ministers than needed and issues of decentralization are a distant memory. And the work seems so overwhelming for these ministers the least they can do is fling excrement at anyone who dares tell them they are doing the wrong thing. That is bad leadership, It’ll work for them but it is still bad. So I like Saunders’ stance, I tip my hat to you sir.

Your point underscores what most people fail to realize. Government owes people services. It is not a club of who can best dribble their way into office. Rather, it is an institution set up to do for the people what they cannot do for themselves. Providing educational, healthcare, road and telecommunication infrastructure cannot be ceded to the people. It is preserve of the government. What Saunders and most of us have been asking government to do is do something significant with the enormous resources that the government gets from taxes.

There are too many big problems in Zambia to fail to solve just one. At the end of each day, the government should hold a teleconference and ask itself, “what have we done to improve the lives of all Zambians today?”

      It is that…

Water and roads in townships is the sine qua non of local government administration. Private water arrangements such as bore holes or tanks are also guaranteed under Zambian law. The situation can definitely be better than it is right now. It is calling for improvement. However, I do not think that all townships in the country are affected in exactly the same way. I do not share the simple view of nothing or everything. Doomsday fever will not do. Development is about gradualism in moving from from income to high income across the social groups. I am afraid radicalization is not sufficient to address development challenges.

It’s a big shame to the voters and the society at large. Am not surprised that your party president has failed to face the media after being elected as national president since he’s more less if not worse like the ministers ha has in his cabinet/deputy ministers. Guys (PF) grow up and stop using the word “BITTER”. Work hard to convince people that you can deliver and not incarcerating opposition leaders and their membership.

This is what you get when you lack ulemu from your neighbour, especially if you’re a leader. It must feel bad to have ones genuine and concrete advice be reduced to mud slinging and ridicule. Indeed it is unfair to shoot down every contribution with words like BITTER and JOB SEEKER. I hope this will put Sakeni in his right path so he can learn to respect others as he wants to be respected. Let it also be his time to realize that his job is not to spar with citizens but to work with his colleagues to move the country to a better place. Next year Zambia will be 50 years old, like it or not. The state of the country is a reflection on you the inhabitants and your lack of will to change it, like a ntyolingo refusing to bath.

leave HH out of this. Sata is the president of Zambia. All eyes on him!
Zambia is hemorrhaging on Sata’s clock.
this is not what we voted him into office for.

If government is working, it should report to the people what it is doing. that may help. president sata must stand in front of cameras and tell us what he has done, he is doing, will do, when, where and how much. then we the people will judge. in the absence of that, awe tapali ifilecitika. ni bu punka cabe.

Saunders can also be fed by Sakeni until he dies. Bwana Saunders, yours is meaningless- how come you have a lot of money and yet you do not want to help the poor but feed Sakeni who is already comfortable. Its like you want to buy fuel in a vehicle that has a 3/4 full tank full and avoid the one without any fuel in it. Yaba!

This habit of politicians changing parties and then pretending they are shocked about what happened in their former parties must stop! Most PF guys are MMD and UNIP and know exactly what they did in those parties. Saunders and others like him are justified to react because at the core, they know the present government should be doing much, much better than they are given their historical beginnings. I remember one ex-health PS getting shocked about the absence of a health facility at some outpost. Call that hypocrisy…

Sir, would you kindly tell us how much tax you pay per year, then we will know how much you are worth. We can’t tell how much you are worth by feeding poor people like Sakeni who have not yet stolen. Your comments are very valuable whether you are criticising or praising Govt of the day provided you are speaking as an ordinary citizen but not so called Opposition Leaders or NGOs who have been hired to be used and have no democratic representation. Your views were valuable at the time the opposition took the country to Commonwealth but you decided to remain mute because you are one of those who have no heart for Zambians you are claiming to be feeling pity and speaking for.

If my memory serves me right, Dante Saunders worked with Dean Namulya Mung’omba in the Zambia Democratic Congress. If he is a man of substance, why did he let ZADECO party die even without Mung’omba? It is true that some men can’t make their own things but want to jump onto other people’s success. You an opportunist man. So now you want to align yourself with UPND founded by Mazoka! FYI iwe Dante, Saken is quite comfortable. He co-owns manganese mines in Mansa with South African investors in a company called Genesis.

What about health care, education, employment, poverty reduction projects? Pf government you are a disgrace to mother Zambia. Please we want to hear more postive words from pf apart from bitter, frustrated, joulous etc. You govern the country & lean to take responsibilty & acept when you fail. You are answerable to the people of Zambia who voted & pay tax to the Zambian government. So pf leaders, sober up! pf cadres sober up too!
