FAZ defends K120 payments for Zimbabwe friendly win

Share

The Football Association of Zambia has defended its decision to pay Zambia players K120 each after the Zimbabwe friendly.

Zambia beat Zimbabwe 2-0 on April 28 in a friendly at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to end a nine-match winless run dating back to November 14.

Faz communications officer Erick Mwanza told ZNBC TV News that Faz was not obliged to pay the home-based players since it was part of their trials earlier that week.

“The position is that they were given K100 (US$20) for transport to take either a taxi or bus to their respective regions,” Mwanza said.

“That was not an international match but was an extension of the trials so they were not entitled to any allowance as they were trials.”

Players from Lusaka were given K50 each while those from outside town were paid K120 each.

    • Not corruption naimwe, why you want FAZ to spend so much money to pay boys who attended funeral? Nyambe Mulenga played in memory of his father Eston Mulenga, so did others. And now you want them to pay them? Nsha umfwako.
Erick Mwanza naena sometimes is too slow to find better arguments.

    • this is too much kalusha naiwe! Who ever treated you in this demeaning manner? As for erick mwanza, his wayward way of trivialising serious matters calls for serious examination of faz conduct.

  1. Iwe ka Mwanza chi color ubufi. Why is the game on fifa’s website, if that was only part of the trails. You are really a dunderhead, pathetic liar. Just like Janza who is lair, when he said the other that Jacob Mulenga was reserved for the tougher games in the knockout stage. Why did Jacob not play Vs Burkina Faso then cause that was a decider. There is really something wrong with FAZ, by the way how was the £1,000,000,00 from AFCON 2012 spent. I am sure this many has ended in your pockets as allowances for that is why you are in FAZ. Stop telling useless strories to the Zambian fans iwe kol…we

    • That $1,000,000 has disappeared like a fart in thin air; what would Ba “King” Kalu who borrows from loan sharks and young Mwanza know about investing.

  2. Iwe Mwanza you are in the wrong profession. Join politics where thieving and lying are part of the CV

  3. That is total garbage.

Pay the players proper money. Don’t toy with their lives. This is work they have done for their country.

Is it also the case that the game was a free entry game, that is to say spectators did not pay for their tickets but watched the game free of charge? If the answer is no, then you better pay the boys more than mere tokens.

  4. People should not forget that some of these young boys were with the team two weeks before the Zim game as they were included in FAZ’s pointless “national trials”. Its ironic for Kalu to state on his “personal” FAZ website that players should be patriotic and not worry about wages when they (FAZ officials) are awarding themselves allowances and cuts off national team sponsorship deals. Don’t tell us Kalu buys his own ticket every time he flies from his home in RSA.
When are people going to wake up in Zambia…too much docility… these are empty suits taking us no-WHERE.
    Wake up people!!

  5. At times its better to keep mum than justify a position with extremely feeble arguments .Whether friendly or on trials you can not give a player at national level such an amount and even have the temerity to justify the same. In any case was the same friendly free? One only needs to juxtapose what was paid to the boys with what the FAZ officials collect most often for doing next to nothing to realise that they are there just to line their leaky pockets.

  6. The Galu & his FAZ have been short changing players for a long time remember what happened after winning afcon 2012 cup. Its a shame these player never publish books.

  7. To fellow soccer fans, results of the ZPL
RED ARROWS 2 NAPSA STARS 0
    GREEN BUFFALOES 1 Nkwazi 4
KALULUSHI MS 2 KONKOLA BLADES 0
KONKOLA MINE POLICE 1 KABEW WARRIORS 0
ROAN UNITED 2 POWER DYNAMOS 1
NKANA RED DEVILS 2 ZANACO 1

  8. Notice that all Home teams except for GBFC won their games. Rangers you are warned do not take Lime Hot Spurs lightly and remember Nkana are now on 19 points

    • Thanx for the update.
Iam not surprised that Red Arrows have put 2 past NAPSA. On their day Arrows play arguably the most attractive football in the MTN FAZ PL. As for Green Buffalloes well, expected and accepted. With the current crop of players I dont expect anything from GBFC other than what they are reaping. As for my team – Kabwe Warriors – they seem consistently inconsistent. They play well in one game and dash your hopes in the next!
Last weekend they dispatched GBFC 2 nil with ease and today they lose to Konkola Mine Police.Hard lucky Dick Ngwenya and company but pull up your socks next time.

  9. Kalusha FAZ Private Company, Our youth are being robbed by Kalusha and FAZ in broad day light and we all just sitting like fat inkoko. These FAZ chaps ate Africa Cup Championship cash and now this friendly match. Ba Kambwili, what is your job? You PF chaps are proving such a let down. Are out of steam already. When are Zambian youth ever going to fully realize the sweat of their talents locally. Kalusha and those ‘intern’ (boosting their CVs on Zambian coaches backs) white coaches are getting ‘paid money’ in 25kg bags. Wake up ba Zambia, bwanji tulo so!

  10. Ba Donn Mwala, welcome to LT & America. We avoid to use names which are on NRC, so bwana becareful, especially that you are Kalusha’s hater.

  11. I THOUGHT THE GAME WAS A CHARITY , MEMORIAL FOR THE GABON VICTIMS AND THE PROCEEDS WENT TO THE FAMILIES ! AND IF THE PLAYERS WERE TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT BE PAID ALLOWANCES BEFORE THE GAME , THEN I DON’T SEE THE PROBLEM ! HOWEVER THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A BIT MORE FOR THEIR TRANSPORT !

    • So how much did they raise?
Look up what a professional footballer is…honestly how gullible can bloggers like you be and for how long? Its no wonder the self-serving incompetent FAZ empty suits are taking you for a long ride and pulling the wool over your eyes. There is no professionalism from these FAZ officials; no truth whatsoever in what Mwanza is saying.
Please wake up, wake up, wake up NOW!!

  12. everywhere you look in zambia there is injustice. What type of pipo are we. Is fairness beyoned us. Pay the worker the money you owe them. if you told them that only transport money well be given to start with you could not be having these problems. But u did’t. U wanted after the game. A winner is better than a looser. U pay looser’s well and when young man win u make excluses. How mach transport money was given to kulu for that game ?

  13. Any game between two nations is an international match regardless of its importance.

    What a bloomer !!!!

  14. O.k what ever the case this is in extreme. U cant pay lusaka based players K50 and K120 to the outside Lusaka based. That money is too little and minwhile Eric mwanza , Kalusha and the rest of FAZ members got mo than K200 for fuel and may be other allowances that same day. No lets be fair ni job yabo mwebantu.

  15. 50 Kwacha is too small a figure to get as an allowance for playing an international game. Taking into consideration that the lads actually won that game. This is the same thing which lead to players not putting in their whole when they are playing coz they are not appreciated
