President Michael Sata

President Michael Sata has directed Lusaka province police commissioner Joyce kasosa to arrest all students protesting against the lifting of the fuel and maize subsidies.

The head of state sounded the order shortly before he laid ground for the contraction works for Palabana University in Chongwe district this morning.

President Sata has also accused United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema for allegedly dishing out money to students at University of Zambia Great East campus and Copperbelt University to protest against government’s decisions to lift the fuel and maize subsidies.

Qfm staffer Yande Musonda reports that President Sata also commended Chieftains Nkhomeshya for her developmental ideas she has been executing in her chiefdom.

The head of state assured chieftains Nkhomeshya that the Patriotic Front government will remain committed to implementing development projects in her chiefdom.

Vexed with government’s decision to remove subsidies on mealie meal and fuel, University of Zambia students have launched a black Friday campaign aimed at pressurizing government to reverse its decision.

As of this morning police in riot gear surrounded the University premises in redness to any possible protest.

Meanwhile, police on the Copperbelt have sealed off Muvi Television Ndola studios in anticipation of protests by Copperbelt Students over the recent announced removal of fuel and maize subsidies.

    • Mwaponoka baiche……Bafikala ba ku Lilayi are brutal! We used call them the ” tools of Oppression”

    • Let those half baked students be arrested. I would rather stay at home than go to UNZA. Its a disgrace

    • And those Lilayi guys can beat. They even come with their half baked nyanja ati “Imwe vyamene fibafana ati fi university.Ndimwe bamene mumakamba ati bwana sanapunzile.Manje nizakumenya so that ati uzibe ati bwana niwopunzila.”.

    • With the jealous and frustration that they ended up at Lilayi as Police officers and not UNZA, kuma, kufiponona fi lucky ones.

    • @morgy mwaiche naiwe there is no difference. After all the the word is not technical. It depends on how it is pronounced by the one leading the group(ring leaders of the demo).Walaba shani how mob psychology works ?

    • WATILE UKATUPELAINCITO…BUFI. WATILE UKAPANGA ROAD …BUFI. WATILE UKABWESHA MISONKO …… BUFI. SHIBWELA UYU KACEPAAAAAA……BUFI.STEP FATHER ALETUFYONA AMAMINA NOMBA TAMONEKA. THE ROTTEN OLD DONKEY MUGABE.

  2. Wooooh, Apo pena you have missed it. You arrest the students and see how the the whole country will be on fire. You think you own the country? Thats is the style of dictators like former Idi Amin Dada.

  3. Come on step father!!! yakosa pa zed….ati let students learn and leaders lead.simple equation,Mps take to the streets and protest for these students,U cnt be stoped for it is yo jobb to speak for these voiceless guys.

  4. I think the president is right, protesting will make some business come to the stand still and this will have a detrimental effect on the economy and GDP

I was reading about this on my PhD project

I totally agree with arresting them

    Thanks

    • hahahahahaha! For once I agree with you.
Busy delaying there progression while their leaders are paid.
Let them concentrate on their studies

    • Shut the F up you s.perm bank,ka Masebo jnr!Just continue with your prostitution uko kwine uli, wherever it is!No one asked for your stupid comment, atase, abubi!!!!

    • This lady (and I mean that in the loosest sense possible) is insecure. Notice how she interjects ‘PHD’, ‘my boyfriend’ totally out of context.

Shows how base she is. She doesn’t know how accomplished Zambians are, both at home and abroad. Probably had a deprived childhood.

      Thanks not appreciated.

  5. Sata you have failed! Just pack that tired body of yours out of our State House. State House is not a hospice nor retirement home.

  6. awe,,shikulu ..wafunta,,manje!… i think you are losing you heard,,, you zombie!!!! why arrest student?,,, try and listern to the cries of zambians.. this may not end up well for you!!…
this is the beginning of the end for PF… HH and UPND has nothing to do with protest, Face reality and be honest to yourselves!

  7. That is what happens when you vote for people who have never believed in democracy. The right to protest is a constitutional right and a sane president should not give orders to police but he will allow the police to their thing professionally. I think Sata is a disaster of a president. I wish he could learn from Levy.

  8. fuulish old man.always acusing the oposition for his failure.as long as you fail to hold a press conference even in bemba if you cant speak english well, expect more demos.you are the most deceptive man history has ever have.

  9. This is what happens when people vote Reckless……Govt. has ran out of ideas on how to manage the national economy, cause the people ruling now had a good manifesto just to make them leaders-they had no vision for the country…soon Zambia will be like zimbabwe!

  10. this president is sick please help him. removing subsidy on nshima. this is the final down fall of the railway station master.

  11. This government has lost it. Mobilise and remove these *****s from power, why wait for next elections? it’s clear he has no remorse for anyone. He can not arrest the whole country! we shall follow him and chase him out of this great country. Useless dictator.

  12. Sata, the man who doesn’t know when he is telling the truth or when he telling lies!. Sata , no one needs to be paid in order to demonstrate against your rotten government. You’re the biggest mistake that Zambians have made this century! Man, just admit that you have failed. State House is not for you. You’re a pathetic excuse for a President!

  13. 2016 will be interesting. The fools party will be chucked out. I feel pity for you guys who were dancing the whole night when this useless party won. We warned You. You are now paying for your sins

  14. THE PROBLEM WE HAVE IN ZAMBIA IS SHORT SIGHTEDNESS AND LUCK OF CRITICAL ANALYSIS; IT IS A KNOWN FACT THAT SUBSDIES ARE NOT SUSTANABLE… WHAT WE NEED IS TO LOOK AT THE PROS AND CONS OF SUBSDY REMOVE AS OPPOSED TO MACHING ONTO THE STREETS WITHOUT HAVING CARRIED OUT ANY EVALUATION OF THE BENEFITS. THE PROBLEM WITH STUDENTS IS THAT MOST OF THEM ARE BLIND FOLLERS JUST EXCITED TO THROUGH STONES. WE VE HAD SUBSDIES FOR A LONG TIME NOW, WHAT TANGIBLE DEVELOPMENT HAS THIS RESULTED INTO. SO PLEASE DO NOT JUST OPPOSE BECAUSE U NEED TO. FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO WILL MANAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR PROGRAMS OF STUDY, I CAN ASSURE JOB HANTING IS NOT THINGS, AND THIS JOBLESS SITUATION IS AS A RESULT OF THE POLICIES THAT HAVE BEEN MAINTAINED FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS, SO GIVE PF A CHANCE TO PUT UP INFRUSTRUCTURE…..
    AL

    • ALBERT ONCE SAID; INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THINGS AND HOPING FOR DIFFERENT RESULTD.
      YOURS FORMER CBU MONK

    • For your information, somewhere in this world farmers are even paid NOT to cultivate part of their land!Does that pump any sense in your head?

Somewhere in this world, people who are not employed(the unemployed) are paid because their government has not provided them with jobs when people are able and willing to work!Does that pump any sense in your head?

For goodness’ sake governments are responsible for their citizens’ welfare just as parents are for their children’s!!!

    • Somewhere in this world economies are collapsing because people have been paid for doing nothing for too long…

    • @Name. Why do you think the UK Government is cutting benefits? To get able bodied people back into work you muppet! They will also whinge, just like chaps like you, because some of them are too lazy to look for work. Is that the culture you want to bring into our country? Governments should be there to protect and provide for the vulnerable and not every Jim and Jack, especially not those who would rather spend their productive years just drinking and involving themselves in illicit activities.

    • You know PF is not strategic when it comes decision making, each move the PF govt. has taken so far we haven’t seen the expected results and this is one of them! People will suffer more because of such policies.INFRUSTRUCTURE? yes..but people must have NSHIMA to eat. A good Govt. must fight poverty first.
A loving father must put food on the table before he buys a new pair of shoes!

    • You seem to forget that PF appointed a commission of enquiry chaired by Wynter Kabimba which cost a lot of money. As we all understood, that Commission was supposed to catch the thieves ( as Wynter said) who were responsible for the high prices of fuel in Zambia. Can you now explain why after, Kabimba has caught his thieves, the price of fuel has gone higher than the case during Rupiah Banda even though the price of crude oil has since dropped? Do we conclude that Kabimba and his PF are the thieves. What are we expected to do? To Just sit back and watch while we are fed on BUFI?

    • Pf has no money it flashes out at by elections it induces. Wat is budgeted for is for the ECZ. The question where does it get such huge amounts it gives to its cadres to exchange nrcs or voters cards frm ignorant and hungry voters and for registering pf cadres for by election? That’s y ECZ stopped registering for by elections lately, otherwise pf didnt win Kapiri, Mufumbwe and Namulambe’s fairly.

    • Only if there are guarantees that the money saved through subsidies will go to serve the people. As it is how do we know the money will not be used for salaries for the two and three deputy ministers or for by elections?

  15. He doesnt understand University life, forgive him. If grade twoz protest he will understand their language not UNZA, patali kuli beena

    • Obviously mwa bweleleko fye ba EX ZIT. These University students, like you, do not understand that this will help improve the infrastructure at their Campus and perhaps may help increase the amount of their BC instead of making the middlemen richer. Just close the damn thing and see who will suffer, them or who ever is deceiving them. Ba ZP ba these days taba ponona sana. In the late 80’s these chaps would have learned that they are at University to study and no to be used as pawns in a desperate quest to get to State House.

  16. Yakosa shani? You lied to us, Do you think we will eat your foolishness?

    Fuel up
    Meali mill up
    Zesco up
    By Elections up

what is wrong with you Sata, you are killing Zambia.

    STOP THIS FOOLISHNESS

  17. Yes, a nice quiet weekend in the cells would be nice, thank you Ba Sata. At least there will be food and a few cigarettes as well

  18. This is the problem with African politics in general. Even so called Democracies feel like authoritarian dictatorships. Maybe its because of the African nature to respect elders at all costs. But the point I am trying to get at is that the presidency has too much power. Some of those powers need to be curbed. As for my fellow students LOL they are free to do as they wish as long as they don’t damage private property.

  19. the problem with us zambians is that we like jokers, and surely we have to pay the price. And i can assure u,it will take a very longtyme to clean up this mess.

  20. Students should avoid demostration. The role of students in society has changed,. The Zambian economy can do without these students as many Zambians are being trained at international Universities. Our students should concetrate on their studies and not get involved in these matters. The UNZA of KK’s time and that of today are different. In the old days allthe graduates came from one institution and if closed serious effects were felt everywhere which is not the case anymore

    • I thought in a democracy, all, including University students have a civic resposibility to hold government accountable by sometimes, through peaceful protest, express displeasure when government is steering the nation in a wrong direction. Students, across, as enlightened citizens have always led and hastened transformation.

  21. watile ukapanga road bufi…!
    watile ukatupele nchito BUFI…!
    ati fuwelo ikacipaaaaaa

    • Atile akatupela inchito- TEBUFI( Jobs at Palabana, Rober Makasa Universities, Jobs in newly created provinces and districts, Lots of industries coming up on great north road just outside of Lusaka. New mines in North Western province. Medical staff, Nurses, teachers all being employed.

  22. PF is on strong ground……their policies will work for this country. They are setting a very strong foundation for growth. We must all support them. TEBUFI!!!

  23. Bola yakaba nomba ba PF donseni insokoshi! Dont suppress those young voices, listen to them! I was once a student at that great university and i know that a student is supposed to be militant and radicle! I remember chiluba third term issue and how we demonstrated until he rescinded his decision! So carry on ba Monko na ba Moma including naba Bungwe if at all you have any as at now1

  24. I’m getting tired of Sata and his gun point decision, he is creating a mess
now he is going too far. now trying to fight with children, his old ass grew up
on subsidies now he wants our children to suffer

  25. Mwaya sana lekeni muponoke fye, mwachilamo. Its too much of being unruly, its time some discipline and order was installed pa Zed. Kapokola ponona!!!!!!

    • @coloqual.
you are very stupid! your brain must be damaged when your parents threw you away in that pit latrine!!

  26. DOCHI KUBEBE ! MWI LALILA!!!
There is no honour among thieves.
You voted for PF who encouraged you to be two-faced.
They laughed when you showed them your bombasa (PF memorabilia hidden under MMD chitenge). Or have you forgotten?!! More PF secrets will be revealed in the long run. Meanwhile, its DONCHI KUBEBA all the way in all ways!

  27. This is to President Zuma and SADC. Mr. President, your country has huge economic interests in Zambia in almost all spheres and the 2 countries share common history dating back almost 150 years or more. In that period our fore fathers crossed the Zambezi and Limpompo as migrant workers whilst much earlier on the other hand, the great Mfecane of King Shaka Sezangakona facilitated the common ancestry out 2 people have. Our relationship is therefore complimentary and reciprocal for many centuries in more than one way. Mr. President, Zambia, once considered as a bastion of African democracy and home of the freedom fighters is fast sliding into anarchy. Don’t wait like you have done on Zim, use your influence to change the course of this great nation.

  28. Sata just resign you have failed to rule. You call yourself Christian but you lied to Zambians with a straight face SHAME ON YOU!

  29. Ya ba Elo lwanya ba UNZA naba CBU. At list my excrement does not stink it’s just like ice cream.

  30. I thnk PF hs seen tht governance is tough. ths z a lesson 2 th oposition nt 2 criticise wat thy dont understnd. ngafyashupa thy cn disolve parliament &…

  31. Foolish students. These Unza students caliber leaves much to desire.

They go to the road and break properties of the very people they say the are speaking for.

One of my colleagues at the UNZA was badly heart and his vehicle burnt to ashes for no reason. Up this time this friend of mines has scars. Is this what you call the educated fools expression of fredom?

Worse still these same fool during the youth game protested when the government wanted to renovate the hostels. To the same fools are enjoying sleeping in the beautiful hostels. These students sometimes do not think before they go for their stupid demonstration.

The UNZA MGT also changed the system from semi to term system which is good because it give them enough time spread their payments. Alas they decided to…

  32. A cobra is a snake – these very young stars and the majority Zambians were warned of the nature of King Cobra; yet they proclaimed him a toothless cobra turned messiah. You are yet to see his fungs and rue the day you went into the pretence of seeing a cobra for a messiah.

  33. plz wher z de chrch, i thot ths wz a chrstn nation? we ned God thn never b4. cn we ve national prayers & fastng 4 ths cntry 2moro b4 its too late. dont sa u were nt reminded

  34. If this is what Presidents do I think I can stand and make a better President. The kids have done nothing wrong. Its the mark of a democracy that people can peacefully express themselves unless they are exercising hate speech. This is not a riot like the ones we caused in the 80s in Kalingalinga. Ba Pulezidenti!!!

  35. So those students will be arrested for protesting the removal of subsidies? Is this a crime in Zambia or will they be arrested simply because the president has given such orders? I think a dangerous dictator is on the loose!

  36. Things are not looking good for the old man. How about we order police to arrest him for slaughtering our economy?

  37. Remove their bursaries as well .This way they will not need to be funded by HH to protest .because most of them are on subsidized education money which may be used to improve infrastructure at the same universities.

    • Russian Mafia once in a while its good to engage ones brain before commenting.Everything is not HH.People are hungry and are cash strapped thats why they are protesting.UNZA students have been demonstrating against controversial government moves long before HH came on the scene…clashes between the Para and Students are part of UNZA’s history.

  38. BUFI Sata promised Zambians ‘Cry for your selves’ (Someone to put it in Bemba as said by Bufi). It has finally come to pass, Bufi keeps his promise.

  39. @ Ba Mulenga wesu i agree with you..hunger has always been there is our country ..Things are just worse because people thought HE Sata.is going to be the messiah..not even a revolution can make our leaders to perform as we want look at Egypt, are they enjoying the peace, freedom and change they wanted? You will go and settle in Zimbabwe as refugees if this behavior is to be tolerated..

  40. I think you remember the comments i made in 2011.Am i not vindicated?Zambia is a democracy.Lets face the consequences no matter how painfull it maybe.Let Sata finish his term and only then can we change. We warned you but you refused to listen.Things fall apart.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  41. Too many assumptions here and unproven accusations. i) That HH has paid the students to riot ii) That the removal of subsidies will channel the money for student infrastructure iii) That this was a well thought of action, before govt. took it iv) That students are stupid to demonstrate. Some of you are in comfort zones – just like the politicians reaping the nations resources. You don’t understand the sudden impact for those already struggling. Why not phase the process? How many people knew that the maize and fuel were being subsidized in the first place? How do you claim that this will benefit the poor, if for example fuel goes up while ministers are entitled to 800 free litres per month? There is a lot of unvouched expenditure for the rich.

  42. A day at the ballot is equal to 5yrs of either hell or paradise .you saw it coming, you were warned but you were so animated like puppets that you failed to read the situation and vote wisely. In simpler language, this is what you wanted and must live with for 5 yrs. Ok !how on earth do UNZA students endorse a grade 7 for president and expect him to deliver, how?.hmmmm!he who laughs louder laughs the loudest.YES riot and make news .we will watch it on eNCA.

  43. Is stoning a car freedom of expeession? What about the rights of the guy whos car you havw just smashed up?

  44. We even blessed we have a national university body that care and are brave. Most of us only complain safely in bars. I don’t support the damaging of property. We ought to have protests. I am still praying for a Zambian leader who can listen to his boss, the people of Zambia. PF seems like they don’t want to rule for along time. They have failed so fast. Every country creates it’s own social economic safety nets. The US has plenty. I still have my strong well informed doubts about HH and Nevers. One still has to learn basic national politics of ‘one Zambia one nation’. The other one is in the wilderness and he wants to take us with him. Lets start looking to Hon Lubinda and Chipimo

  45. Since when did throwing stones at innocent people become a right to express one’s self? I thought intellectuals share ideas; is this the best UNZA can offer? Sata is right, innocent people are being hurt for doing nothing wrong.
