Special adviser to the United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema, William Banda has expressed sadness on the Patriotic Front administration’s failure to tame its alleged violent cadres.

Mr. Banda who was once Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Lusaka province chairman notes that there is need for the police and the Ministry of Home Affairs to effectively address the issue of PF cadres engaging in politics of violence if Zambia is to remain a peaceful country.

Mr. Banda has also urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to consider calling for a gathering of all political parties to denounce politics of violence in an effort of creating a rapport amongst political party cadres in the country.

Mr. Banda has maintained that UPND still remains a peaceful political that is ready to mingle with all other members from other political party.

  1. Lusaka Times. Has Fred Mmembe bought you also for you to say William Banda is special advisor to HH?

    • You might be correct to claim that you know his past but what about his present? People change my friend and he is even the correct person to talk about violence because he is talking from experience. After all the say ” experience is the best teacher”.

  2. “Chiwamila Galu kuluma Mbuzi, not Mbuzi kuluma galu”, so goes the saying.
william Banda should be the last person to complain about politics of violence.
He thinks Zambians are so forgetiful that they can’t recall how violent this man was under KK and RB.
It’s time to taste your vomits.

  3. What goes around comes around indeed. Who ever thought this chap would be preaching peace, this chap orchestrated violence and pounced on the opposition during the MMD reign and was condemned by almost everybody and defended by some MMD leaders. Today he is facing the wrath of being in the opposition. Some people just learn the hard way. But still timely advice to the PF cadres to stop their barbaric behavior!

  4. @Bufi, Bboza, Kubeja:

I thought that’s what William Tekere Banda was hired for by HH! I may be wrong, but check the archives, this was widely reported by almost all Zambian blogs and newspapers. NOT just The Post. Probably not by the ZWD, for obvious reasons! Why distance yourselves from this “peaceful” (chick & tongue) old man now? Are you trying to shake the “violent party” tag? A bit too late, isn’t it?

Amazing what NOT being in power can do to people. Not that I am condoning violence by anybody or any political party, but Tekere Banda is NOT the right person to preach about Non-violence and peace. This old man worshiped violence when he was running vigilante gangs in MMD. Now he wants to act as though this is a new phenomenon and foreign to him? GIVE ME A FREAKING BRAKE!

    • Yambayamba,

Ok I get it. When you say all Zambian blogs and newspapers you mean Times of Zambia of Fred Mmembe, Zambia Daily Mail of Fred Mmembe, Tumfweko etc. Off course the ZWD on this was objective as ussual or at least least biased. William Banda was not allowed to join UPND to continue his violence in the party. That is why UPND is not violent even after WB joined.

    • Even the President Michael Sata used to be a violent man when he was CEO of MMD. Actually Sata and William Banda were both patners in violence before in UNIP. Today Sata is in PF and PF is a violent party. Who is violent then?

    • Oh well, then they are both violent and should equally repent. But Tekere and his UPND should stop pretending to be angels and acting like this all new to them!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Lol William osapanga chongo please. After what you have done you should be thankful that you are a free man and not sent back to Malawi. What a joke the opposition is these days

  6. Actually the leaders of the Vigilante group were Mr. Banda and Mr. Sata. While Tekere has been tamed by the UPND, The other one has continued with the same vigilante formula. Please note that violence is part of the PF winning formulae. It is UBUFI, BUBELA, BUHATA, BOZA, KUBEJA, BUBESHI, LIES, VIOLENCE, POKOTSO, etc that brought and still keeps PF in Power. Remove any of these and PF will be out of power. Be real PF thrives on violence. Infact if Tekere could be sold like in Football, PF would pay alot of money to get him and probably pay him more than Wayne Rooney because he would definitely bring them trophies. UPND doesnt know how to make him score. He is a very good striker. Please sell him to PF. $ 80,000.00 would not be bad.

  7. Ba william, you must have a chicken brain that you forget so easily because not so long ago you were the same person heading the violence team under the MMD regime, you are just testing your own bitter medicine.

  8. Just look who’s talking…..! William Banda of all people??? Do you remember how you and your MMD thugs sliced people’s matako with a knife in Chongwe during 2011 elections??

  9. Ba Willie na ba Lusambo ba kalamba. Am on a BA flight tonight arriving early tomorrow morning. Would you please take time, just a few minutes, to chat in the car park so I can let you know how I feel about MMD. Ps. I’ll be wearing a Man U shirt
