Lesotho lose to Bafana

Share

Lesotho’s preparations for Saturday 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier suffered a setback after losing 2-0 at home in a friendly against Bafana Bafana in Maseru.

The hosts struggled for the opening 35 minutes after initially giving South Africa too much respect.

In the 32nd minute, Bernard Parker fired a free kick off woodwork to see Lesotho survive from conceding the games’ opening goal.

Six minutes later, Lesotho began to find their feet and Thulo Ranchobe’s shot parried by Wayne Sandilands to test Bafana goal for the first time in the game.

Sandilands was back dealing with Ranchobe in the 41st minute when he saved the Lesotho strikers header.

Bafana stunned Lesotho in the 45th minute when Tlou Segolela tapped in the ball from close range to see the visitors take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Segolela sealed Bafana’s victory on the turn inside the box with a fine left foot volley.

Lesotho came close from getting a consolation in the 73rd minute when Katlego Moleko’s shot from outside the box but can off woodwork.

Lesotho, who drew 1-1 with Zambia at the same venue on March 24, are expected to arrive in Ndola on Thursday.
