Chief Government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni has warned that law enforcement agencies would not hesitate to clamp down on trouble-makers.

Mr Sakeni who is Information and Broadcasting Services Minister said in an interview that the allegations by the MMD leader were unfounded.

He advised Dr Mumba to exhibit political maturity and seek other means of airing grievances in line with the law but not to agitate for violence.

[pullquote]Mr Sakeni however said the past had shown that youths were used by opposition to discredit the ruling party and that the violence taking place could have a similar root.[/pullquote]

“Dr Mumba should understand that youths have for a long time been used to fan violence and there is no evidence that PF is behind any of such machinations. He should show political maturity to address such issues and not engage in divisive and violent plans. The law will visit anyone planning to cause violence,” he said.

Mr Sakeni however said the past had shown that youths were used by opposition to discredit the ruling party and that the violence taking place could have a similar root.

He said such a matter required political maturity instead of accusations.

“They should not be naïve about this growing culture of youths harassing people but they should work with other political players including the PF to find a lasting solution to the problem unlike accusing and blaming other parties. Those who attacked the congregants are criminals and cannot be referred to as cadres, they are criminals who should be caged and as PF, we condemn such conduct,” he said.

He said Government was focused on developing the country and would not engage in violence.

  1. Pastor Mumba is advocating for ‘an eye for an eye’. Lets see who will go completely blind first.

    • There is a shortage of ARVs in nation,, and Sekani is not in his right frame of mind,, please donot take what he is saying seriously ,, he is speaking in his own capacity a sick person who need medical attention,,

      And
Mr Sekani why did Sampa go and apologise on behalf of those youths,,, if PF was not involved in anyway???

  2. So this Mr NSEKENI is now telling us that the opposition hired the youth from Kulima Tower, put them on a truck and said to them, “Come with all sorts of weapons and attack us. We are meeting in Matero at Church. We want to discredit the Government”

Wow this is truly great innovation in PR from the BUFI Department of the PF run Matero University. Talk about talking BUFI to a whole new level. Absolutely astounding.

How can you solve a problem when you don’t even acknowledge its existence? If PF want to transition from a Kaponya party, they got to recognise this problem. MMD was attacked by the same youths over subsidies and it is the same youth for Black Friday because nobody did anything about MMD attack.

    • “Mr Sakeni however said the past had shown that youths were used by opposition to discredit the ruling party and that the violence taking place could have a similar root”

What he is saying is that when they (PF) were on the other side, they used the youth to discredit the Govt of the day.

  3. Minister, do you want to be reminded of a few incidents where violence has taken place and to date no culprit has been arrested or charged? What happened at the Kabwata UPND rally? Any arrests? And yet complaints were filed and there are photos to use to track these thugs. Livingstone, a case in which someone lost his life. I guess the police are still gathering evidence. We are tired of your hollow statements. We all know who the author of these violence is. You can talk yourself until you are blue in the face, that wont change a thing until we see action from the police without getting directives from your government.

  4. We all know that the thugs were PF or supporting PF agenda and trying to silence dissenting views – so lets start from that ‘fact’ in any meaningful dialogue, no spin. As a govt in power you have more of an obligation to protect your people and their constitution than monitor and police opposition leaders reaction to actions inspired by your ‘madness’. Arrest the lumpens first, parade them and punish them; then start talking about the reactions of other players. Problem is you think we are all the mere 43% that were bought into your lies or that the whole 13million of us are stupid. Ubwanga bwenu is backfiring, ala tula pepa mu Zambia these days, so basop! Everyone including most of the misguided 43%, have now seen the light and can now see through you (bald heads and all!!!) JUST…

  6. Mr. Sakeni, which law enforcement agencies will clamp down on trouble-makers? because as far as i know those youth trouble-makers who harassed people at matero church are still on the run, and i doubt if any law enforcement agency is looking for them!

    • The thugs are not even on the run. They don’t need to be.
Mr. Sakeni, We are tired. So very tired.

  7. Sakeni you know it was PF ,we know it was PF ,the world knows it was PF.Miles Sampa even went to appologize. So what are you talking about? Perhaps you should be replaced with Sampa he does damage control better than you do.

  8. Minister, do you want to be reminded of a few incidents where violence has taken place and to date no culprit has been arrested or charged? What happened at the Kabwata UPND rally? Any arrests? 9. Zambians woke up !
PF admin has being taking away your rights , by inch , by yard, by mile(Bob Marley) and if you do not react from each step , you will end with a Zambian vision of “Mugabe”. The serpent is eroding the check and balances. He wants the legislature under his control with by elections. He is the executive and for the judiciary he does not want any body appointed by the Banda admin, Mutuna and other judges. He want the Chief Justice who could kiss is …. By law, the acting Chief Justice is beyond her retirement age. What ever she rules won’t be admissible.
Any Zambian has the right to sue the President.

  10. UNIP behaved the same, MMD behaved the same, UPND has behaved the same, PF is behaving the same. Who is and who will really be so different from the other? If PF went away and another came up they will behave to same, for sure. When in opposition it has been normal to practice politics of confrontation, defiant, more about honour and pride with daily derogatory language, insults and using any means to demean those in govt! On the other hand those govt ever think they have it all-including thinking! Others do not think properly unless us – that mentality and they use heavy handed response to opposition!
But what we need is respect and restraint from such extremes as we live together as a family, community and country called Zambia. I know this call is so difficulty but we must try.

  11. Yes Sakeni is right. Those hired hoodlums are not PF per say. They were hired by the opposition seen that their agenda to whoo the publics on their side over removal of subsidies did succeed. Not even hired UNZA students succeeded therefore decided to engage street bandits to attack a supposedly black friday prayers.I know these tactics by the UPND and MMD.Your plot has been exposed.Mindful that PF has been in government(through MMD) and opposition for along time and they know these methods being employed.Sakeni has been shushu and he is aware what the opposition are trying to do.But can not come out accusing a particular party untill those bandits are brought to book and caged. Those prayers could be part of the ploy.

  12. This man deserved to be fired by the Zambian public. It is time Citizen arrest pounce on this chap. Surely, those boys came from bus station sent by PF. Yes, the history will repeat itself because these are the same criminals parties hire to beat up people and to them is the way of live.
I think this guy needs to get advise from Kachingwe

  13. I suspect the spokesperson missed the whole apology, and attempt at damage control and an act of penance from his fellow minister and area MP Miles Sampa – How on earth can you be so disjointed as a cabinet and issue such conflicting statements? awe mulifye nokupena mwe!

  14. But hasnt this man died? Now ghost are makin threats sichi puku ichi or maybe ARvs are now ressurecting pf dead ones kekekekekekekeke

  15. this shows poor reading culture in zambia… disjointed communication, ministers in zambia dont read they are busy prostituting or symphoning the little resources. just yesterday miles apologised and it took him K20 million to bribe that senseles pastor and today this baboon called ARVsaken says the youths are from the opposition.i dont know wat president sata will say when he comes.
but even if PF has failed us UPND is not an option at all.

  16. Problem i have with PF is they are way too nice! For Gods sake they have the army, police and talking to Mugabe all the time. Why cant we just burn the faking Zambia and see where these oppositions will become presidents. Why cant they give each other time to work. You cant have 3 president at one time. This time Micheal Sata won. Wait untill 2016 it might be your turn. Let the man work!!

    • Nobody is against him or PF working. People like me draw the line at violent acts, regardless of the party that perpetrates them. Even PF supporters are unhappy with this turn of events. I myself are non-partisan but PF are unable to run the most basic services in the country like the Police Force.

The opposition is also an essential element in a multi-party democracy. You don’t seem to have grasped the concept.

    • I am offended by your statement “why can’t we burn the faking Zambia”. You are in the US probably earning $7 per hour and you think you are better off than going home. Your self-hatred and contempt for your motherland is apparent.

      Imbecile.

  17. Have Zambians forgotten the Kachingwe saga? MMD and Mumba should be talking about the Die hard thugs he has embraced. PF should ignore the opposition and concentrate on the implementation of its policies. 20 years was a long time for MMD to prove themselves if they had good policies but they failed and have nothing to show for it to the people in terms of infrastructure development. That’s what happens when you spend money on consumption subsidies to appease the electorate instead of putting it on projects which can encourage production. If MMD is accusing PF of being a capitalist , what was the MMD doing when it was privatising the industries? Is it a socialist policy of closing down industries without paying employees any terminal benefits?

  18. only 10% of the 43% have changed their minds n turned against de pf n 27% of de 57% have also changed dea minds joined de team that won de match, de diference dat av occured in prices increase aftr subsidy remove is so minimal n we r nt complaining.

  19. @mungatelo you are a fool what exactly do you make of matero pf mp apology on sunday? Sampa did not only apologized but went on to say that he could have stoped the attack if he made aware of the black fridAy meeting was taking place at bigoca. Is this not admission of guilty???
