President Michael Sata has said the trouncing of the opposition in the just ended Feira parliamentary by-elections reinforces the people’s belief and optimism in the government’s policies and programmes in line with the Patriotic Front (PF) manifesto.
The President said government will remain committed to engaging progressive forces within the opposition in its pursuit of executing pro-poor measures that will culminate into rapid economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction.
In passing his massage of thanks to the people of Feira following its victory in the just ended parliamentary by-election, President Sata said the PF government acknowledges with humility, the resounding acceptance it has received from the people of Feira constituency in Luangwa district of Lusaka province.
He has since assured the people of Feira and Zambia in general that the PF administration will now intensify its sustained efforts to develop the whole country and ensure that all growth projects were implemented immediately.
Mr. Sata has further expressed gratitude to the Zambian people for the strong show of support and confidence in the PF as reflected in the several local government by-elections, which were held countrywide where the PF won nine out of 11 ward by-elections, while the MMD won two and the UPND lost all.
He further said the PF has continued gaining incredible ground in Southern, Eastern and Central provinces.
The President however stated that the latest wins in areas such as Kazungula and Vubwi, which were previously dominated by the opposition, underscores the PF party’s growing popularity across the country.
President Sata further noted that this was a reminder to the opposition that mere politicking and agitation would not sway the Zambian people from their aspirations to support, respect and protect a government that has their interests at heart.

So PF has won and there is jubilation, but at what cost? PF just won elections less than 2 years ago. What other mandate do they seek? It is being said that UPND, MMD and the others have lost. No, the real losers are the Zambians. Its like a cricket which eats its own muzhindo and thinks its getting fat!

Those who know it, feel it. By instinct and by reasoning, Sata and PF are still popular. Do not pretend, doubting thomas! Sata is the best Skipper, the best No.9, the goal scorer in the political football. You can insult, agitate, call international supporters and what have you, the best will ever be the best. This man organised his party from being one man to the majority party that PF is. Its not mean, its not simple. He is simply a super organiser and mobilizer. You can’t beat him by wishful thinking. Any clever person can think it over and work it out. Whatever tricks can be employed by any opposition leader as at now they won’t work. People try to scrutinise the way the dictator operates. He will first shut the door and beat people were ever they want to assemble and bring fear in the nation. PF victories are not a true reflection of what is on the ground. The dictator knows how to rig the election by buying everyone who is in the system including election monitors. The same way they are buying MPs from opposition is the same trick the dictator is using on those overseeing the elections. The dictator also has taken advantage due to the absence of the print media. The post, times & daily are on the side of the govt. The dictator will make sure any independent print media is under the scrutiny and pushes it into a tight corner by suing the owners into courts of law so that the owners become bankrupt & end up in jail.. The fact is there is no way the PF can bribe everybody from voters to election monitors at all levels.The results at councilor level is a clear indication that the UPND and HH have no plans to bring development to Zambia.They aslo show that the UPND is shrinking very fast and will soon go into political oblivion!!
