Opposition Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) has said that there was no room for reconciliation between faction leader Major Richard Kachingwe and party president Dr. Nevers Mumba.

This follows Major Kachingwe challenge to Dr. Mumba to publicly apologize for the way he was ousted by thugs from the former ruling party as national secretary.

Director of Communications in the office the president, Muhabi Lungu has maintained that what Major Kachingwe did to unconstitutionally expel Dr. Mumba as being the former ruling party’s president was against the party constitution and does not require any further debate.

Mr. Lungu has also said in an interview that Major Kachingwe has no value to be retained in party as he is allegedly being sponsored by the PF.

He has urged Major Kachingwe to instead join the PF.

Earlier, major Richard Kachingwe said that there will be no room for reconciliation in the former ruling party unless the party president Dr. Nevers Mumba publicly apologized to him for ousting him in an embarrassing way as he did using thugs.

Major Kachingwe noted that if Dr. Mumba did not go public to apologize he will not forget and forgive him for the humiliation he made him go through.

Major Kachingwe said in an interview that his side of the MMD has so far taken over the grassroots of the party and that Dr. Mumba is only hanging there as party president with only a few people that he came with before taking the leadership of the former ruling party.

He noted that there is still hope for the former ruling party bouncing back to power but that if it continues with the current leadership it will continue crumbling down.

Meanwhile Major Kachingwe has also described MMD’s coming number three in last week Feira by-election as a vote of no confidence in Dr. Mumba’s leadership.

Major Kachingwe noted that his side of the MMD also feels vindicated that its proclamation that the MMD will loose popularity under Dr. Mumba’s leadership has come true as evidenced in how the former ruling party has continued to loose its once held Parliamentary seat to other political parties.

However Director of Communications in the office the president, Muhabi Lungu has dismissed assertions that the MMD’s coming number three in the last week Feira Parliamentary by-elections is vote of no confidence in Dr. Mumba’s leadership.

Mr. Lungu noted that the MMD was likely to loose the by-election whether any other president beside Dr. Mumba was to lead MMD because Mr. Patrick Ngoma may have swayed a lot of support on the grass roots after defecting to the ruling Patriotic Front.
