The Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE) has refuted media reports suggesting that Henry Kanyanta Sosala has been appointed as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people of Northern Province.

Mr. Sosala was recently de-gazetted as Senior Chief Mwamba by Government.

Sub Chief Chimba has asked Zambians to ignore the rumours circulating in some sections of the media that the Bemba Traditional Council known as the Bashilubemba has appointed Mr. Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

He said the reports were highly misleading and malicious as the Bemba Royal Establishment was still mourning the late Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

Sub Chief Chimba stated that it was against Bemba traditions and customs for the Bashilubemba to announce the successor to throne of Paramount Chief Chitimukulu even before the late Chief could be put to rest.

He urged people to allow the Bashilubemba time to make the final decision on the next Paramount Chief Chitimukulu instead of issuing unsubstantiated statements to the media.

Sub Chief Chimba has since warned individuals behind the spreading of falsehood about the appointment of Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of serious consequences once caught.

Meanwhile, Sub Chief Chimba has announced that the late Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people in Northern Province will be put to rest on 17th July, 2013.

This is according to a statement made available to ZANIS by Sub Chief Chimba’s representative Chikwemba Lucheshi.

But when contacted for a comment on the matter, Mr Sosala declined to comment.

Meanwhile, de-gazetted Senior Chief Mwamba Henry Sosala has surrendered his official vehicle which is now parked the provincial administration offices.

  1. The trouble with the whole lot of you, is that you are throwing stones instead of coming with solutions
The majority are condemning the president, my Question is who is better suited to lead your country than Mr Sata.

Feed me an answer, if you cannot then you are being led by the best president you can ever have. In that case let
Us all be behind him, and to I am not affiliated to any political party, I am just tired of reading from all you armchair critics

When I go to my aerobic classes we have this lady from Kilmarnock, she complains and complains, and like here it really
Pi55e5 me off to be surrounded by nonsensical people on here

  2. This man can even see properly. Bembas at work. Anyway………..Wish good luck when you finally become the Paramount Chief.

    • @Kay, ignorance at work, find out how the Bemba succession process works then you will understand better and your comments will be more mature….do not mean to be rude but more knowledge is not harmful.

  3. 2 things
    – let ba shamfumu maintain tradition
    – People have become wise and are not replying to the resident troll. Good.

I told you guys, she comments as soon as a topic is posted with deliberately annoying comments, and then disappears. No doubt she sits back and enjoys the fireworks as people get angry.

Bravo! No one’s voting or commenting on her posts (except you Bauze today). It’s fishy, you gotta be careful.

  4. These are not royal chiefs….are they ?
If these are royal chiefs…then God help Zambia ! What is wrong with this picture???? How can these corrupt chiefs allow politicians to influence who should ascend the throne???? Could it because they have been bought ????? by the politicians?????
    Puppet masters ?????

  5. Mushota is right coz no president/leader will be liked by all, neither HH nor NM. Even Jesus Christ was not liked/loved by all but a few. 2 day majority like this evil world n de thngs which re earthly than God. keep it up Mushota ur quiz is gud.

  6. When the Late Paramount Chief Chitimukulu has been laid to rest, the Bashilubemba should uphold their authority by making a credible decision to swear-in the new Chitimukulu in accordance with the Bemba Tradition. Where possible the Bemba people are capable of providing a more comfortable car and financial support to their beloved traditional leader – and do away with Govt blackmail-tactics. MHSRIP

  7. Shilubemba has announced the day late Chitimukulu will be baried. Is this ok??? I thought it was kept secret.

Mwe Nkonko sha Ku Lubemba educate me.

  8. Do we really need chiefs in this moden era?I thoght we had elected representatives to represent us.Why should one tribe rule you as though they enjoy a monopoly of wisdom and knowledge?

  9. Out of context I know but I will tell you a little story as this BRE story has been the bore of the century. Anyway. here goes: Three heavily armed guys wearing black trench coats and balaclavas enter a packed church in Lusaka. The church goes quiet filled with terror as the head gangster heads to the pulpit and grabs the microphone from Father Joseph whilst the other two guard the main entrance with oozies. The head gangster announces barks the following words in some foreign accent ‘Any one in this church wishing to die in Jesus name remain seated before we spray this place with lead’ The first to scamper was the choir leaving their hymnals behind, next was the elders followed by their 2000 strong congregation. Within a few minutes only Father Joseph and a few elderly ladies had been…

  10. ….left behind and refused to be moved. The lead gangster waves his machine gun up in the air in sign of victory and announces in a pure English accent spoken by local people of Lusaka the following word as he removes his trench coat and balaclava to reveal his face to Father Joseph and the 7 old ladies that stayed behind ” now that we have gotten rid of the pretenders, Father Joseph, you can continue preaching” and the three gangsters left the church and disappeared in thin air.

    ~ ~ Stay blessed.

  11. Bizarre ‘royal’ paraphernalia and regalia. The subjects of these ‘royals’ are a major cause to most of Zambia’s malaise, right from 1964 to date.

The only break was a 7 year glorious period from 2001, when a non Bemba President, the World called ‘Mr Integrity’, governed our Nation. What a nation of ‘proud and free’ we were among other nations of the World. We stood tall with immense dignity.

But now we have once again been visited by extra terrestrial mediocrity that hail from those same ‘royal’ robed ‘kings’. Lord, what have we done to deserve this?

    • I think culture is important and people need to recognise that most tribes have chiefs and it’s not just a Bemba thing. Their role in wider society is another debate as is the President’s role in getting involved. If one believes in democracy then one must respect that the people vote for man they are happy with or at least consider to be the least harmful of the candidates. Such speech of a single tribe ruling can cause problems such as in countries like Somalia. Thankfully Zambia to date has been spared of such tribalism due to the nature of the people’s desire to be one. One Zambia one Nation we say, let us continue to judge people as individuals and not by their tribes.

  12. Eishhhhhhh!! I hope this Chitimukulu was embalmed with Aromatic Aldehyde and kept in the Zambeef cold rooms.

    • We can still have royals but as figure heads only to preserve our culture. Even developed societies have preserved their royal families.

  13. Why have the Bemba royals started wearing bizzare clothes? .. and their looks! Please don’t copy the muzungu wangas from you know where!
