Government says Forum for Democracy and Development leader Edith Nawakwi is under pressure to show her relevance on the Zambian political scene hence her baseless attacks on the Government.

Acting Chief Government Spokesperson Fackson Shamenda says Ms Nawakwi’s political popularity can only be gained by shouting at Government and not giving constructive criticism expected of an opposition leader.

Mr Shamenda says because she is preoccupied with throwing empty salvos at the Government, the FDD leader has become too blind to see the number of achievements the Government is scoring in different sectors, including labour and social security.

He adds that the only mess that can be talked about in the labour sector is the one the PF inherited from the MMD and that Ms Nawakwi should commend the PF government which has cleaned up the mess in less than two years.

He says Government has, and continues to score landmark successes in the labour sector through the implementation of various policies and programmes aimed at making the sector contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the country.

Mr Shamenda points out that this can be seen from among other achievements, the creation of over 300,000 jobs in various sectors of the economy since the Patriotic Front came into office 23 months ago.

He says this is an indication that Government’s economic policies are on track towards achieving the long term macro-economic objective of creating one million jobs by 2015.

He adds that tremendous progress has also been made to comprehensively reform the labour laws in tandem with the emerging trends on both the local and international labour markets.

Mr Shamenda says the process has been highly consultative and inclusive of all stakeholders in coming up with labour laws that will not only stand the test of time, but also protect and promote the workers’ rights and spur robust economic growth in the country.

He states that Government expects to conclude this process before the end of the year.

Mr Shamenda has since advised Ms Nawakwi to tame her appetite for falsehoods against the Government.

    • It is good that the position remain blind to some achievements PF is making but people especially in rural areas can see them. Foe example?

      1. The gvt has constructed a number of Deeping facilities for animals in Southern pro.
      2. FRA is busy paying farmers money for maize this time.
      4. Fertilizer has already been delivered to farmers.
5, Roads are being constructed around the country. The bridge wich is abt to be done in Sinazongwe linking Zambia to Botswana will be a big achievement for PF in the area
      6. A number of rural clinics are being constructed in districts.
      7. The newly created districts have excited people in those areas. tho no infrastructure, districts are receiving allocations for medicines, CDF etc.
      8. If civil servants receive their increment, it will be a plus…

    • @kwekwe, a bridge in Sinazongwe connecting Zambia to Botswana (over lake Kariba?) would indeed be a great achievement. Sounds more like a wild dream – check your geography.

    • @KWEEKWEE
First of all it is not deeping facilities. probably you mean dipping/spraying. I was in Southern province, namwala, maala, kalomo, i did not see any of the dip tanks. Went to katate, Lundazi, mukushi, kompa, nothing. In namwala, only one company is offering moveable spray in exchange with cattle. World vision opened one dip tank in chief near mutengulene.
      Give me a break.

    • One needs to be in Zambia to see these things. Thats why the Government is hell bent on shutting down watchdog and other online media so that you see only what they want you to see. @Kwekwe. 1. its dipping and not deeping…..those are cheap and can be done very easily. The project is an on going one and has been running from the time of FTJ. FRA is not paying farmers. They don’t have money. They actually want to introduce a barter system where maize is traded for other things but no money. Roads projects were initiated under RB – nothing new. Fertilizer is one of the reasons why the maize yield will be low this year. Coupled with army worms etc, we will be lucky not to have yellow maize. All in all, Ba Shamenda bali ba kana kuli Edith Nawakwi..hence the hatred..he settled for Penny M…

  1. Sir, what is this obsession with Edith Nawakwi? Did she turn down your invitation for a dance at a madala’s party or something?

Your statements even if they had some credibility they all have been tainted by your personal attack on the lady . Can’t you people use Permanent Secretaries to write sensible things for once than ranting like goons missing being in opposition.

You are now in Government and for once act like you are ruling. This is becoming nauseating!!.

    • COME 2016, PF will just be pointing at those achievements and the opposition will run out of words. bakala sonta pofye ba PF ati apa, apa, apa, apa. Be careful with Sata. The man is a proper politician. It is too early for the opposition to say PF has failed when they can see the massive potential exhibited by PF to make roads for example. where do you think the money for the budget is going? bye elections only? are you sure? Epo mpelele bane

  2. African politics is all about who shouts the loudest.Thats the only way someone could be seen to be effective because the majority of the voters in most cases don’t even look at what the leaders they want to elect have to offer looking at their party manifestoes. Its all about whose more vocal. No wonder HH was a gentleman when he came on the scene but he later realized that it wasn’t working. Now these days he does not only shout the loudest and carries placards at the freedom statute alone ,but has now also started using strong street languages and sometimes found at the centre of fights involving cadres. This game is not for sissies.

  3. Zambians must strive to work with govt in implementing positive change they long for in communities. Criticism doesn’t solve problems, action does.

    • That is true but construction criticism helps people see things they may have overlooked too. That is why even PF constantly criticized previous Governments.

  4. A normal person would have sat down to review his recent embarrassment. He denied the issue of the deficit only for Chikwanda to confirm it moments later. But I’m not surprised; all one needs is to look at his lips and his complexion and realise the man is almost mad due to prolonged illness.

  5. “Mr Shamenda has since advised Ms Nawakwi to tame her appetite for falsehoods against the Government”.
It will helps us all if Mr Shamenda can tame is and the Govt’s falsehoods to the nation. In the whole of this article attributed to Shamenda where he is emphasising the achievements made by the PF, the only example he can give is a falsehood. Or better put one that can’t not be independently measured.

  6. This man’s beard is being to clog his brain too. Leave Edith alone and just do your work. Why should you be constantly talking about someone who is not even in office?

  7. This man’s beard is beginning to clog his brain too. Leave Edith alone and just do your work. Why should you be constantly talking about someone who is not even in office?

  8. Shamenda, Nawakwi and MMD chief bootlicker are one and the same only that the last two pretend to know everything about politics in Zambia

  9. Shamende, you and your boss should think before you utter a word. The tosh you said concerning Nawakwi’s realities has devalued your integrity so enormously. It would mean well for your PF if you stopped issuing any more statements. Your intelligence is evaporating so fast. Fileke mufana.

  10. If Nawakwi is too blind, the I don’t know the levels of blindness Shamende is approaching, he is right in government and couldn’t see that there was a budget deficit, it took the person he is telling to be blind to see the budget deficit before the finance minister could tell the Nation, how funny. Whoever becomes gvt spokesperson becomes useless.

  11. PF r the only ones enjoying massive development in zed, have been in Europe en development means quality education, fast and available health care, easly access to info I.e internet, newspapers, radio en info reaching every citizen and a planned en structured national plan like projects en time flame.

  12. I’m starting to think that Shamenda just likes Nawakwi. He doesn’t respond to any one else but Nawakwi!

    • Shamenda can’t shave for fear of scaring his Boss. This man is rotten in his head just like SUCKEN of late he has been hallucinating. Can i be wrong if i start suspecting that this man’s uric levels have risen beyond the threshold.
He has started seeing things upside down.

  13. kwekwe is right SATA is intelligent come 2016 oppositions will fail to campaign because they will have nothing to condemn. The man is busy implementing projects and you are busy talking instead of changing the strategy or political approach. you will be shocked and retire from politics like Morgan MDC in zimbabwe. The projects implementation we are seeing now we used to see them during elections after election the go in oblivion.
    LETS LEARN TO APPRECIATE

  14. Too many achievements
Mongu- Kalabo Road completed. Nawakwi no eyes kekeke. Civil servants salaries already paid.
    St…id

    • i was in mongu when rb was commissioning the mongu kalabo road, whatever is happening concerning the nation development was either innitiated or started by rb,a president for all zambians.i rest my case.

      Thankyou.

  15. I recently visited Kawambwa, Mansa, Luwingu, Kasama and up to Mbala and back to Lusaka and I was very happy to see developments in the construction of roads, schools, clinics and houses. My impression was that people were generally happy with the PF and come 2016 the opposition will still loose because of what will be on the ground.

    • The roads you are talking about were started by MMD. PF is just completing the projects they found. PF went into govt without any plans. Thats why ministers always contradict each other in public. This is the only gvt in the world that relies on speculation to govern. It is the more reason they react so viciously to timely and genuine advice from the opposition. A serious govt cannot respond in the manner Shamenda has done to advice. The gvt is supposed to use civil language, not rantings as if they want to annoy the opposition. PF must realise that they are in gvt and must use proper language towards the governed. These rantings just make them become more unpopular by the day.

  16. Wisdom goes with age!U expect a none competent Politcian to giv meaningful advice, sugestng reinstatement of riotus student f.o.o.ols to b reinstated & wht folows ,closure. So whts the logic aftr fundng riots st.up.t oposition let students learn & forget fightng stop.Ba ……why fund confusion.Sata nevr did tht in oposition.Dont u remembr whn he intervend govt depts not to strike bt advised to go back work & evryone did!Thts a leader not forcing to be noticed thru confusion & anarchy.Tuka mona iwe 2016. U thnk u wil cary the day we shal see see mufana. Its too much we shal see yr popularity.

  17. Vicious and malicious personal attacks is how politicians play it in Zambia. We should all know that by now. That’s the formula Mr. Sata used and it eventually got him the presidency. Remember the non-stop merciless inhuman jabs and punches at Mwanawasa’s health? You can’t go contrary to this established way of politicking and hope to succeed. You won’t. Did somebody say HH is trying to do same? He can do worse than to copy and paste Sata’s formula. It’s what works in Zambia.

    • Unfortunately that’s very true. So the question is:- What are the consequences to the Country for this sort of free-fall name-calling immature politics? The answer is simple: – Retrogression leading to chaos, until and unless the citizens realise and change this brand of politics.

  18. A minister from a governmant of Garbages, dunderheads (from top to bottom) passing on some critics. He cannot even read between the lines whether the fake government has made any substantial scores (achievements) or not. By theway, what’ s the point of pointing an accusing finger at the former ruling party, the MMD everytime anyone of these morons opens the mouth ? What a bunch of foolish government officials with no diplomatic language we have. Iwe cipuba Shamenda please, if you have nothing to talk about or contribute it’ s better to keep your dirty beak shut.

    • Can you tell us what you have achieved in life Sir?Dont insult our leaders God forbits. If you are the enemy of the State you are doomed. The Govt.is cleaning up the mess left my corrupt elements. What is your comment of MMD burying Billions of Kwachas some stealing heavily yet they are still leaders in opposition shame on us no morals.Even the man of God has joined to support crooks who have stolen public funds.God is watching us

  19. Is Shamenda using his beards to see. How come it is only him and Wynter Kabimba only who are seeing this unprecedented development?

    Awe Kuti wafenta nga UKWA..

  20. Looks like ba Shemenda is too blind and old to see that PF has not fulfilled its lections promises so far. Don’t force people to see development where there is none. What we can only see is that Mr Shamenda is growing fat daily and his neck can show as an indicator of personal development perhaps!! Save us the comedy please!!

    • You cant see because you are blind.
      Roads are being constructed
      Building new Universities
      Establishment of new districts
      Buiding new stadiums
Establishment of new shopping chain of supermarkets
      Opening of new Mines

  21. While we appreciate the minimum wage that the PF government introduce, the problem that is there is the implementation. Honourable Shamenda since the minimum wage was introduced, i have not seen any Labour Inspector to check whether the minimum wage has been enforced. people are suffering in industrial area. same amounts that workers used to get before the introduction of the minimum wage. people still have hope in the PF Govt to deliver on the campaign promises.

  22. You cant see because you are blind.
    Roads are being constructed
    Building new Universities
    Establishment of new districts
    Buiding new stadiums
Establishment of new shopping chain of supermarkets
    Opening of new Mines
The World Bank is happy Zambia is on the right track.

  23. Can you tell us what you have achieved in life Sir?Dont insult our leaders God forbits.

  24. Mr Shamende please lisen to what Nawakwi is asking and try to table these issues with your fellow ministers and find sense to work on it, rather than exchange words, we want good governance and progress in our nation.
