Buffaloes fall, Roan hold Zanaco

Zanaco and Green Buffaloes each produced contrasting fortunes in Week 17 of the FAZ Super Division today.

In Chililabombwe, fourth placed Green Buffaloes failed to cut the seven-point gap with leaders Zesco United after falling 1-0 away to struggling Konkola Mine Police.

A 20th minute goal from Chanda Mushili settled matters at Konkola Stadium in a game Buffaloes were suffocated by their hosts who planted nine men behind the ball for most of the 90 minutes.

Buffaloes stay third despite the loss on 27 points behind second placed Nkana on 32 points and Zesco on 34 points whose respective games have been rescheduled.

And defending champions Zanaco came from behind to finish 1-1 at Sunset Stadium against Roan United.

Floyd Phiri put Roan ahead in the 44th minute before Davies Mwape made sure they shared the points with the equaliser in the 77th minute.

Zanaco move one place up the table to fifth on 25 points after the draw while Roan stand still in seventh spot.

Meanwhile at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola, Lime Hotspurs coach Levy Chabala beat his former charges Kalulushi Modern Stars 2-1 to see his side rise from the bottom of the table to 15th place to exchange places with Forest Rangers who have a rescheduled away fixture against Nkana.

Brian Chilando put Lime ahead in the 57th minute but Angel Kalunga levelled in the 80th minute before the home side snatched a late winner dead on 90 minutes to record their first win since May.

And at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka, Napsa Stars denied coach Beston Chambeshi a third successive win in charge of Konkola Blades since taking over in July.

That game finished scoreless.
