Reality has dawned on the PF govt – Vernon Mwaanga

Veteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga has charged that reality has dawned on the Patriotic Front that certain promises they made to the people of Zambia cannot be fulfilled.

Mr. Mwaanga says the PF government has come to realize that it cannot implement certain promises owing to the limited resource envelop.

He notes that being in opposition and being in government are two different things a situation which the PF is now coming to terms with.

Mr. Mwaanga is however optimistic that going forward the PF government will be able to adjust some of the projections and some of the campaign promises they made to the citizenry in 2011.

He says the PF government should come up with more realistic reassessments of achieving their goals.

And World Bank has commended the Patriotic Front (PF) government’s outlined principles for job creation and poverty reduction contained in the revised Sixth National Development Plan (SNDP).
The revised SNDP is a medium term national plan which will run for three years starting from this year to the year 2016.

World Bank country Representative Kundhavi Kadiresan has observed that the principles of prioritization and being selective when spending allocated funds in the revised SNDP will help address the issue of thin distribution of funds which lead to failure of implementing programs and projects.

Ms. Kadiresan has also notes that the principle of value for money is another principle that will further ensure an effective implementation of the revised SNDP.

Speaking in an interview with QFM Ms. Kadiresan has since expressed the World Bank’s aspirations of seeing the effective implementation of the revised SNDP.

  1. Good and on point observation.I can’t agree more beans Vernon.Even Obama has back tracked on some of his campaign promises.Reality is indeed something.

    • Sauliso, how come you are always the first to comment? Do you sit by your computer 24-7-30? You claim to supervise two undergrads, I really don’t know what you mean. Supervising is at graduate level. Are you sure you know what you are talking about? What insitution is that, that dwells into extensive research at undergrad level? I am curious to know what you do because at times you have flickers of intelligent, but often you fall in the pit of intellectuall deficiency and resort to character assassination. I want to be debating with you on matters of politics, but—-no.

    • I do not usually support persons, but you know anyone who is a researcher has thier computers on 24/7/365/5.
i dont want just to be commenting on issues, yet when the first item comes up, i see it.
so man let SAULOSI be the first one no heat man.
but what is the issue. PF lied and now issues are back firing?????
      give me a break

    • @Italian-Predential material thanks for that. And that’s exactly what happens. You have hit the nail on the top.I normally comment first because I spend most of the time in front of my computer because of the nature of my work as a post grad researcher(Phd).Bwana Nostradamus the two students are in my research project.

    • Saulosi, no offense meant, you misdirected me and many others when you said you were a lecturer. You gave the impression you were a teacher. Read your previous notes. If you are a PhD candidate that is different. The undergrad students are your research assistants–they are helpers. Reaserchers do not sit by the computer blogging. They focus on their work. I still hold you in doubt. I know both of us are using monikers to blog, but from your comments, you don’t strike me as apt.

    • @Nostradamus,
I always doubt people who boast about their PhD’s, wealth and influence. More often than not they are nowhere near to what they claim to be. Just this week GBM was unmasked by Sampa for falsely claiming that he is a holder of a Grade 12 certificate when in fact he is a Grade 3 drop-out.

    • @ The London Eye,
You are absolutely correct. There is a mystic and panache that goes with proper PhD schooling. It can be captured in the choice of words. Often braggers like Saulosi are University of Phoenix candidates or mere impostors. I have over the weeks followed this guy’s comments, they are not worthy doctorial status. I wanted to be engaging him in debates because he is a frequent blogger. But I have discovered that he has nothing to offer. I am in danger of lowering my status.

    • @Nostradamus…my aim here on LT is not to impress people like you nor am here to impres the other readers..I avoid getting into petty discussions which you always try to get me into because they are not beneficial to me in any way.Sorry bro i wont feed your illiterate and egocentric brain with more data about me.Am comfortable here and contributes to the Zambian economy every month when i send money.Semi-illiterates like u are a waste of space.Sorry to say this but you are just too much.Have a nice weekend.

    • @Nostradamus…My comment is under moderation i don’t why but my message is:Am not at your level.Play with Ruwe and your kind and not me.And don’t expect me to always answer you back coz you don’t make sense to me as an individual.

    • Iwe London Eye Grade 3!! Then he must be a genius to make the wealth that he has even if it may be by hook or crook. Yayi ine nadabwa mwe.

    • Poor VJ. He is a loser who concentrated on chasing women than developing Zambia.

Any educated person knows that politicians the world over make empty promises to get elected.

  2. But still..kuchitako fulfill nangu tubili nangu kamo ka promise..nomba fye zeroo out of 20 bakaamba sure nangu ni reality iyo!

    • U must b living in diaspora mwana and u have restricted yourself to feeding on sadistic online media houses like ZWD. Poor fellow. This country is moving forward wether sickos like you like or not. There is so much going on and all sincere Zambians are able to appreciate. Dont ever forget that we are dealing with the MASTER himself and remember at this game only the COBRA can beat the COBRA. So take it easy mwana, stay back n watch. U r in for a rude shock hater!

    • Ba Solomon what going forward are u talking about? Have u been to Cairo, Freedom, Lumumba roads and seen how bad our once beautiful city of lsk has become under the hands of PF? Where is the constitution they promised to give us in 90 days? Dont jst be a blind follwer jst becos you or yo father has been a job.

    • Hate him or love him VJ has seen it all and he knows what he is talking about. Indeed opposition is not the same as ruling. Sata went to extremes by promising the poor money in their pockets in 90 days. The poor are mostly uneducated and desparate. They are prone to believing any positive promise and they bank on it. Politicians are liars, but they must not lie through their teeth and break the hearts of those who voted for them. PF leaders must not continue to take people for a ride. Sata must start fulfilling his promises or he is going to be a one term president. Written by the real Nostradamus. Look out for the Canadian flag.

    • @Luputa – you are talking about freedom and how dirty Lusaka has become. Flip the coin and look at the other side. Ask yourself, how much billions of kwacha are traded on those roads? The Zambian families are making a living on those streets. I think it is a good thing – it just need organising.

You know Zambia is only 48 years old and the PF has clocked only two years in power. For you to anticipate that they will solve all Zambia’s problems is being a pessimist. The constitution was not ready within the 90 days because of Zambians. Ba Sata wanted it to happen quick, but you people (Zambians) protested and called for further consultations hence the situation we are in.

One thing is for sure – Zambia is on the rise. It will never be the same after the PF – it will be a better…

  3. REALITY IS THE BEST BUT THE PROBLEM IS THIS THAT THE MAN (HMSC) OVER
PROMISED WITHOUT REASONING. HE EVEN PROMISED TO BUILD BRIDGE WHERE THERE ISNT A RIVER IN ONE OF THE CAMPAIGNS. PIPO WERE CLAPPING BLINDLY WEN HE ANNOUNCED THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Yes I do agree with those points they are real, but the aggressiveness to perform, but must always take centre stage I like the energy this govt is putting in, but also copper must be made to realise the dividends to the locals, value addition is the key to development , just producing copper hasn’t helped Zambians though the greatest producer of copper in Africa, we haven’t seen anything at all through the years lets try something new

  5. Vj walipwa ur now criticizing pf cos they refused to give to give u a job. U ve been in all govts of Zambia since independence. You did nothing but womanisimg just shut you beak pf doesn’t need your cheap advice.

  6. Times i feel like not commenting because you agree with everything the speaker said.Being in opposition and being the one pulling the strings are two different things…no doubt about it.I like the performance of PF so far.It is my hope that they keep on working hard inspite of the many obstacles.

    • Mushota lacks intellectual depth and those who relish in her (his) comments are mostly semi-literate. This is a conceited individual who was dropped from her mother’s back when she was a baby. She has no limit who she demeans, insults or disparages ‘cos discourtesy flows out of her broken skull without much thought. Some bloggers have cared to follow her insolence and support her. Well if you are educated, ignore her. The more she is ignored the better. By the way Mushota could be a man–be careful.

  7. These rifrafs will now resort to intimadation and violence. At the next funeral gatthering VJ will be sorted out by these rifraffs for his coments on PF.

  8. Timely observation VJ for the first time! Resources determines the fufilment of campaign promises. Pf has done something not Zero awe! The road has been done in our area where MMD used to say tapaba ifyabako.

  9. PF’s promises were mere campaign talk, an under 5 kid could see they were unrealistic and not achievable in 90 days! All politicians are liars, that’s the nature of their profession. They can’t afford to be morally upright and hope to get to state house. They have to lie through their teeth while maintaining a straight face. A long time ago we were promised an egg a day, where are we today? They promised us heaven but instead delivered bread crumbs!

  10. Mu zambia ba ma dyama banthu at the expense of national development, chi VJ si chinalema kudya since independece (1964). VJ ni mambala. Ba pf plz sideline him.

    • i think you should have respect when is due. Sata is able to listern to VJ than anyone in his party. eg if VJ says today that his has joined PF. what position can he be given?. Check yourself cramps???? F ooooolish. The man at 23 years old was a diplomat when Sata was lifting and swiping at Victory Train station.

  11. We good Zambians in diaspora
‘must’ go back and work for the betterment of Zambia instead of keep on occupying other peoples countries. We should be ashamed of ourselves. Lets take our good, sound education back home. IF WE DONT GO, WRONG PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE DOING WRONG WHAT THEY ARE GOOD AT. THE ONLY WAY PF WOULD CONTINUE TO RULE IS WHEN WE GOOD CITIZEN REMAIN SILENT.

    • @Munkonge,
Your advice is very sound and makes a lot of sense. The trouble in Zambia is that when they see you working hard and progressing they will not like it and will sure that you give up and be like them in their laziness and petty jealousies. This is the main reason why Zambia will not develop.
I am sure you will agree with me that in the Diaspora we are more respected and appreciated for our excellent services than back in Zambia.

  12. Some promises wil never be achieved by PF, but one thing for sure is that what PF hz achievd in 2yrs of their stay in govt can’t be compared to what MMD did in 20yrs of being in govt,

  13. Good evening

In my view, the statement should rather read “reality has dawned on the voters” because as some bloggers have arleady pointed out, it is not strange for politicians to make promises on their campaign trail in order to be elected.

This is why people should vote for leaders based on what they have seen them do for the country in the past as opposed to what they say they will do in future.

  14. There is nothing wrong with what vj has said. However, every honest person ll observe dat pf is doing great in inflastructure development. When u say they have done zero u are not being truthfull. lt is unprecedent for any govt especially in Africa.

  15. After all no govt in the world has ever fullfilled all their promises. Did kk nd mmd do so? No.Actually pf has scored goals already in 2years far more dan wat mmd did in 20 yrs. They still have 3yrs to go. Honest pipo will agree with me. Pf, go,go !

  16. Saulosi and Nostradamous are not even near masters! Your english gives you away! First degree holders yes but below merit!

  17. So Vj is only able to foresee PF reality bt failed fr MMD hs orignal party!Ths party ws in power fr more thn 20 yrs bt faild to ofer forecastd guideline.I knw the manupulater is broke with no job he’s realy on rocka!PVT retrenched him &hs left him naked pants down!

  18. The construction of mongu_kalabo road is nothing. The revampingof nitrogen chemicals in kafue is nothing.jst come to justice Mr sluggard.

  19. PF never promised people that they would build

    Clinics
    Dual carriage ways
    Bridges
    Etc?

VJ, do you expect PF to dwell on campaign promises which are and will remain campaign promise anyway for many years to come?

VJ, how old were you when

KK threatened to resign if Zambians did not stop drinking?
KK would kick anyone who was walking in flip-flops?

PROMISES OF A GOOD LIFE IN HEAVEN AND RESURRECTION ARE WHAT KEEP CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM GOING.

  20. 3 year development plan? Either someone is really thick or thinks everyone is really thick!

It took China 50 years to “mature”.

  21. VJ’s expectations of getting a good job in PF is shuttered no wonder his comment. He thinks he can continue fooling every party that comes into govt. His giftedness of crooking every master has expired. Catch up with reality Mr. VJ …..!

  22. Zambians are so negative, that is why the country is not moving forward in terms of development! It is better to try than never, at least PF is doing something about infrastructure in the 2 years than talking for 20 years with nothing to show for apart from dilapidated roads and washed away bridges and many shanties.
Did MMD achieve anything it promised the people in 1991? It failed almost in everything under Chiluba, LPM tried to correct the situation but sadly he went to soon and RB eroded any gains LPM attained. Mwanga is not the right person to be blaming PF because these problems were created and not solved by his party MMD and his corrupt friends who had been in power for 20 years! Have faith big projects are not done overnight and selling old houses is not development! 3 yrs to…

    • You give me an impression that you are a young man who was not present during UNIP days. MMD achieved a lot. Just to mention a few things
      1. here in Lusaka Kafue Road, great North Road up to Mandevu, Lumumba Rd, The Great East Road up to Airport Turn Off were all single lane Rds during Kaundas time.
      2. There was only ZNBC before MMD. Multi choice came during MMD. What about Levy Mwanawasa stadium and Hospital? The Heroes Stadium in case you think is PF stadium was started during Mwanawasa’s time.
      3. We had ZCBC, Mwaiseni and NIEC stores full of nothing but vaseline and Floor Polish during UNIP and MMD changed all that.
      4. Many Hospitals and Roads were started during RB’s time.for lack of space I will end here.

  23. So ba VJ believed the campaign crap?90 days and all that Utopia was beyond our economy and skill,Hahaa, i didnt realise that he was also aboard the dochi kubeba express or is it the Ukwa express….eish!Zambian politics;-)!!

  24. The majoriy of Zambians voted for PF not bcoz of the promises they made, but pipo wanted CHANGE as MMD had over stayed in government & taken Zambians 4 granted e.g failing to give us good constitution. Moreover, we came to know that UPND was selfish by pulling out from the pact (PF-UPND) after knowing that Sata is not dying… Apart from that PF was seen as the only remedy to move out mmd from the government & believed that PF would gradually deliver to the Zambians. Amazingly, for 24 months PF have been in goverment have brought infrastructure developments e.g in my province we shall have King Lewanika University. So from political point of view, PF will be judged from their achievments(1st term) & they will be luck bco Zambians have patience. But it won’t be more than three term(15…

  25. In my opinion PF lacks direction. there is nothing extra ordinary they are doing. They have followed the same path UNIP and MMD followed, hence the same under achievement and same success rates. At the end of their term there will be nothing tangible to show for all their misguided efforts. All the projects being done now were already in the process and are a continuation from Mwanawasa and RB’s time. I honestly think Mwanawasa and RB were better performers than Mr. Sata.

  26. lots of people thinks being intligency is in class.no dat is a misplacd belief the real intligence doesnt lie in class
