The shortage of fuel in Lusaka has persisted despite government still maintaining its stance that the country has enough fuel stocks.

A check in some filling stations found motorists queuing up to acquire the commodity.

Petroleum and Allied Workers Union of Zambia Secretary General, Malambisha Chisembele, says he is concerned at the supposed fuel shortage and its impact on their membership.

For several weeks the fuel shortage has hit Lusaka with several filling stations going without the commodity. Some Lusaka motorists expressed concern over shortage and wondered what could be behind the scarcity of fuel around the city.

Last week, government accused Total and Puma Oil companies of being behind the shortage of fuel being experienced in some parts of Lusaka.

Energy Minister Christopher Yaluma said in Lusaka on August 18, 2013 that the fuel shortage being experienced were as a result of the two Oil companies not collecting the commodity from Ndola where the country’s oil refinery is based.

  1. The more things change, the more they remain the same …., Zambia the blessed land of muntu, what has befallen thou

    • Simple, make the city pedestrian and cyclist friendly, build sidewalks and such along Chilumbulu, burma, great east roads etc and include bike lanes as well or better still, use scotch carts!

    • Mushota I think u have a serious problem. Do u need prayers?
      Airports are so far away. If u stay in Chelstone and works in town. How do u go to International Airport and again board a plane to where?

      Eish……. Most towns and cities in Zambia have one airport / airstrip so u board a plane there to where within same town/city???

  2. But palibe chisungu pa Zed! A check in some filling stations found motorists queuing up to acquire the commodity.

  3. This the result of 24/7 politicking and endless electioneering by PF such that service delivery and economic performance recieve scant attention.

  4. Govt asures on stock availability not suply contrl!Govt asurance is based on stock as expectd inventory whn enters market or country.Consumer supply is dependent on oil marketng agents e.g. Puma,Total,Engene,Mt Meru e.t.c. not govt.Oil marketng companies determine consumer suply to an extent where state stocks re guaranteed.Hence te onuste why delears re hodng to fuel supply as source of money.I can asure u shortage is fr thosr fightng govt.Ask Shanirai & he sjined fr suport. on dealr suply midle chain analysis not govt!Govt can now investigatng

  5. It’s called the evolution of language TinTits why do you think Language changes;
    Zambia should deregulate the supply of fuel it’s obvious our GRZ cannot even run simple things like this because they put incompetent cadres in positions they know nothing about or have the common sense to over see. Our problem is not that Africans are not intellegent far from it we just put the wrong people in the right positions

  6. I wonder whats going on in the country. Just because you are saying something opposite to whta is happening doe not mean you are been objective. If anything majority of students have talked to do not even understand the points they are trying to debate on. If you as them the best answer they will give you is ‘i heard somewhere’.

    • Wiseman, I asked Dada the same question a days ago as his contributions are incoherent. My question was “which night school did you attend?” I think he is self taught. He has a language definedd by his own rules and hence makes it difficult for others to follow. And his line of thought is not consistent.

  8. Just continue with your government of baffoons and failures. We cannot accommodate such governance in the developed world.
