The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution (SACCORD) has congratulated the four political parties taking part in the Mkaika parliamentary by-election for conducting their campaigns in a peaceful manner.

The political parties taking part in the September 5 polls are the ruling PF, the MMD, NAREP and UNIP.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has disclosed to Qfm in an interview that his organization which already has monitors in the area, has not received any serious reports of violence or the abrogation of the Electoral Code of Conduct.

Mr. Cheembe has urged the four political parties to continue with their tolerance towards each other and the adhering to the Electoral law as they campaign for the poll which is due in two days.

Mr. Cheembe has also urged electorates to come out in numbers to vote on the polling day.

  1. Come on SACCORD, this is a no brainer!!! You can do better than that!!

The compaigns have been peaceful for ONE and ONE reason only and here it is:

…The thugs that cause violence are all busy stuck in Lusaka trying to Kill each other…

    That is the reason.

    • It could also be that the stance of the govt on enforcing laws on malpractices during elections is finally becoming a deterrent. I hope this sort of campaigning will continue in our country – violence is just a terrible and unprofitable thing.

  2. Learn to give the credit where it is due.
The government is working hard to make Zambia a better place.
    People will vote for development.

    • my dear do not reduce yourself to an 1diot, which development are you talking about? budget overrun is certainly not a development people of zambia are looking forward to. be objective do not just sing praises blindly, may be you are a beneficiary in the family forest!

    • You may be right, but the impression PF projects is that of an intolerant and brutal party. It’s hard to imagine the country can really develop with the chaos obtaining in the ruling party itself. Whatever else Mr. Sata is doing to propel the nation forward, he is doing very little to quench the missiles his lieutenants are throwing at each other.

  3. I agree with MMD Chief Bootlicker
Let me also add that, the other reason is the numerous nullification of seats, resulting from malpractice has also made it stiffer, no one wants o go with a stint lest they follow him during appeals. I would imagine, probably PF failed to donate cash and several materials to buy votes, so it comes back to, a LOSS, I will be shocked if people can still vote to PF.

    • The notorious PF warring factions are in Lusaka monitoring one another’s moves. They are staying put, reserving their worst thuggery for one another’s throat. What a way to obtain peace elsewhere in the country.
