KABWATA Member of Parliament Given Lubinda has defended protesting cadres, charging that there is nothing tribal about the call by youths in Lusaka for Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general Wynter Kabimba to resign.

Mr Lubinda said in an interview that the protests by the youths in the ruling party in Lusaka were aimed at an individual and not any tribe as Mr Kabimba claimed.

Mr Kabimba has come under intense pressure from the party’s youths who are pressing for his resignation for allegedly harbouring ambitions of challenging President Michael Sata before the 2016 elections.

The secretary general, who is also Justice minister, has, however, reacted angrily to the protests and accused some senior party members of being tribal over the issue and sponsoring the youths to rise against him.

Mr Lubinda faced similar protests early this year before Mr Kabimba charged him with alleged treachery which ultimately led to his suspension although the cadres had called for an expulsion.

“When the protest was against me, he was in the forefront and nothing was said about tribalism,” said Mr Lubinda, who was hesitant to comment on the protests against Mr Kabimba.

“I wonder if that is tribal because as far as I am concerned, the protests are against an individual and not any tribe in Zambia, so he is in the better position to prove that the protests are tribal.”

The former Foreign Affairs minister said Mr Kabimba was an eloquent person who could easily prove to the nation that the demonstrations by some party structures were being sponsored by a tribal clique.

He said unless the party’s chief executive officer convinced the public that he was a tribe on his own, it would be difficult for people to believe that the demonstrations were sponsored by an ethnic grouping in PF.

Mr Kabimba said those wishing him out were just wasting their time because he would not go anywhere.

    • Iwe this is Sunday! How can you make laugh like this! You are right, man. The guy has never won an election and relies on appointments and bootlicking…

    • While the protests are not against the tribe, they are premised on tribal inclinations according to Kabimba

      Lubinda is missing the point

    • @ Mature
Am just happy, thats how i react when am so happy, besides we have very good weather so thats makes it even more conducive.

    • @Cindy
i thought your lubinda should have been one step wiser and not give his reaction to this noise.. that looks like vengence to me,,

Kabimba was too excited with power and immature,, he failed to control his red lips and he is paying for his sins

    • @ Ndobo,
i can understand that Given Lubinda being a person with feelings couldnt let this one just pass, imagine how happy iam to see Weather boy going through all this at the hands of the same people he turned against the GL, well.. there must be God somewhere out there, revenge is surely so sweet especially when it’s through your own hands! even if the GL never taste that bling bling higher ministerial post, this is sweeter than honey!
As for him speaking out, i dont mind at this point he can toss that bottle even higher it’s ok, he has been vindicated, it was long over due, he is a gentle man that is what no one can ever take away from him, never!

  1. “Lubinda who was hesitant…” If I were him, I wouldn’t be drawn in this battle, at least for now. Whilst it may be true that Kabimba was very instrumental in Lubinda’s persecution, it maybe however not necessarily true that Kabimba’s fall from grace may have anything to do with Given’s ill treatment by Winter.

In the current case, I really think there’s a ‘3rd’ force in the PF that share ethnicity supremacist views, that want Kabimba out. He may be a pretty much a bad guy,(just like they are bad guys too), but that’s not the reason they want him out for. I think there’s is more than what meets the eye.

  2. Reality one man’s poison can be another man’s cup of tea. don’t think the opposition
won’t pounce on a chance to recruit Kabimba with all he knows that’s why Sata is quiet. He can come back and haunt PF. the party needs to be adding not subtracting

    • Which oppoaition wld accomodate Kabimba. All these bye-elections were engineered by him in the name of party mobilisation (saying that this was his job). He even said if MMD wanted to die (through MPs crossing/ seat nullification/ Kachingwe-Namugal saga), PF would gladly provide firewood. As for UPND, forget becoz Kabimba and Membe engineered the break up of PF-UPND pact.

  3. I stand with you bo Lubinda; The Secretary General is not in this position because of tribalism unless he was a tribe himself. Further, it is clear from the composition of leadership in the part that the most represented tribe is from one region and so SG should have in the first place worked on tribal balancing to circumvent perception of tribalism if he thinks it is there.
I am waiting for a time when our government will realise how serious it is to make tribal remarks or do anything tribal in anyway. Any offender regardless of status or position should, if convicted, be banished to life in solitary.

    • You are the man. How come he can only see tribalism now that he never saw when he used to hound others? In any case, does he mean all the PF party cadres are from one tribe specifically bemba? He’s only tasting his own medicine period.

    • Very true observation.Mr Kabimba is a cancer and a pain to the whole nation .It would do zambia a great deal of good if this cross eyed dictator in waiting were to vanish from public office.

  4. Chiwamila Galu …

Mr LUBINDA is 200% right … When cadres were demonstrating against MR LUBINDA there wasn’t anytin tribal.

And so it goes “He walks with a Sword dies with a Sword ”

Mr Kabimba the time has come to be chased by the same Dogs u kept & fed.

    • Sir God forbits to insult leaders Hon Kabimba should at this time reflect on his shortcomings if at all there is any.Fellow Zambians we need to be wise and understand who had supported and voted for PF ?Go to ECZ website and see the results you will not talk about tribalism you reap what you sow.southern,Eastern, north western province totally rejected PF and yet today especially those from Souther province talk rubbish about PF govt.

  5. lubinda,s eyes r very red i think he smoke dagga.cikala u drink 2 much beer n cigar smoking.definitely yo lungs r contaminated n u can,t do some exercises cos u can faint or die.

  6. wateva lubinda will say right now will be out of revenge but the truth of the mata here is not kabimbas arrogance we have owes known winter to be like that nowanda they put him as their SG now today wat has changed?its the presidency that these people ar defending they have info that sata may not stand in 2016 thus someone from another region taking over that seat is wat they don’t want that’s why those tribal sentiments ar coming up.its deeper than you think bloggers.

    • You are right Dingi, no other tribe will rule Zambia until after 50 years. One Bemba minister was heard saying. Prediction is: No Sata in 2016 = Bemba person for presidency off course Kabimba not Bemba should wait 50 years more = PF trabelism or racialism.

    • Kabimba should cut his linen according to his size. The man is not electable. PF would even lose to NAREP if they floated him. He is just good for the party as a bull dog he has been. But now I think he has bitten too much….

    • @Malyo maybe he did something or failed to do something, after all it takes two to tango. Maybe they have realised that power has gone over his head and he is too much. Haven’t you ever heard of divorces after 30 years of marriage? Stimez relationships are held together for convenience and maybe this was that type of convenience, once an objective is reached it is each man/woman for himself/herself. I am one of those saying Bon voyage SG.

  7. Had I been Lubinda I would have just kept quite. It was the same clique that used Kabimba to hound Lubinda out for his own ambitions for plot 1. Now that Lubinda is out, they want Kabimba too out to leave the way clean for a yet another Northern Janjaweed Mujahedeen to ascend to power. This country is doomed.

    • Lubinda is a politician and not a pastor. He has sensed a vacuum and he has to make a move. Politics is not for the faint hearted. Go Go Lubinda…….

  8. lubinda has shown that he is not a wise 1diot as people have portrayed him. he is quite dull because a wise and intelligent person would have tried by all means to keep away from the wrangles. on the other hand, he wants to be seen to be on the side of the ‘seemingly wining team’ of the tribalists hoping to attract some consideration for a post. wailasha zayellow. you are a clueless hyena

    • We shall see…. only time will tell, i dont think Weather boy has enough of it on his hands, no one runs the events as the clock tiks the space between the next is what we as humans grab on to, as the hands of time catches on that tik, we can only cling to hang on, but when it’s over even your strongest grip cant hold you long enough for your treacherous human behaviour, not even the great poisonous fangs of the Cobra can serve you… It is time follow the signs and let go!

  9. It would be wise for Lubinda to keep to avoid falling into the divide and rule trap! The next time they come for him, there might not even be a Kabimba to stand for him. Lubinda should not burry his head in the sand when writtings for Bemba tribalism is there for all but only Bembas to see. A paradigm shift is required to change governance and power-sharing in Zambia between the Rulers and the Ruled. Power should move away from Lusaka to shared with the Regions and ultimately the People and tribalism and regionalism to provide strength in diversity.

  10. Given: Don’t let Kabimba’s evil tricks drag you to this useless battle, just stay away for people to distinguish a fo.ol and someone wise like you. Wynter played dirty; he pushed you out of your ministerial position to suit his desires which now has come to haunt him. So stay away my brother. Wynter’s evil minds will eat him. That’s why he wants to divide Zambians further by bringing his tribal nonsense in this to comedy

  11. Lubinda is really treacherous as I have always said. Look, he wants me to expound on how tribalists in our tribal party have been scheming against me and any other person who doesnt belong to their tribe from vying for the presidency. He knows very well that this is a fact and knows that I can clearly show PF is the worst tribal party and its govt zambia has ever had since independence. He knows this will cause amagedon in the party which will lead to PF losing power ultimately in 2016. He will then jump onto the next ship as usual. The guy is always tricky. I can see thru his plea to have me clarify this issue.

  12. The tribe thing is a non starter and those cadres are a combined group of youths from all over the country. The Ngoma the ring leader guy is not Bemba. Kabimba has just lost grip of power and instead of issuing statements he should call for meeting with other senior members to iron out his and other issues period. Given should instead stay mute on this one because he was treated the same by the same cadres. Kuloleshakofye ba Given!

    • You are right though Lubinda’s point is that, this has nothing to do with tribalism because he went through the same thing from the same cadres, the same cadres that kabimba took to ACC and no one not even kabimba called it tribalism. Moreover as you rightly put it, the cadres are from all the corners of the country and not one ethnic grouping.

  13. Ba LT please, from 08:00 hrs, now the day is almost noon, you have failed to correct your heading reading:

    … has defends anti-kabimba …

It should have taken you 5 seconds to spot and correct that mistake, come on guys!

  14. I wonder if Lubinda said this. We’ll see where it leads to.
However, comment reserved coz we are tired of Kabimba this, Kabimba that, Kabimba Hey

  15. Lubinda u re a patriot.Content in character & not compeled by personal ego & lust fr power like Kabimba.Kabimba has shamed me.Go Lubinda u re a man yr traitor is in pain & shame reaping wht he sow!

  16. Lubinda is 10 times a better and more experienced politician than this ruffian Kabimba. Had it been him SG all this nonsense would not be happening in pf. For the sake of peace and order in the country, let Kabimba go please……….

  17. KABIMBA KABIMBA KABIMBA WHAT GOES ROUND BABA KUMS ROUND .
DONT FORGET MINISTER WITHOUT A CONSTITUENCY YOU WERE BUSY ARRANGING PROTESTS FOR MUCHIMA THROUGH MASUMBA AND YOUR STUPID CADRES IN SOLWEZI.
LUBINDA YOU ORGANISED CADRES TO PROTEST AGAINST HIM.
    CAUSING UNNECESSARY BYE ELECTIONS
MANGANI YOU NEVER WANTED HIM TO STAND
    RUPIAH BANDA
    TIME HAS COME FOR YOU
ALL THESE PIPO YOU HAVE INNOCENTLY OFFENDED LESA SEES .
    GOD IS GREAT
SOME OF THESE PIPO GOD LOVES THEM
YOU WERE TELLING SATA IFYA BUFI NOW GOD AKULYOTOLA

  18. Why would you want to return to a party that allegedly treated you unfairly?
    Once bitten and all that…

  19. It’s not true Lubinda the offence u committed was clear and tabled before the Central Committee and u were found guilty. In Wynter’s case it’s true that there’s a pf clique using unemployed young pipo to hound out Wynter by lies. The clique cant table any charges before pf CC becoz there’s no genuine case apart frm tribalism.

  20. Let me add, remember the rented denonstrators, as Wynter calls them, led by Chikwelete went to State House without police permit camped there the whole day. The Central Committee sat that evening to consider the anarchy by cadres. The Committee found nothing, no case against Winter! Chikwelete announced in Chawama in the presence of HE that the noise cadres unleashed had ended. It seems the sponsor, the tribal clique, could not accept that announcement!

  21. 3 days ago i heard kabimba asking those against him to point at just one wrong doing he has commited. no one has done so this far apart from the usual talk of saying he is dividing the party. my analysis and opinion is that the one dividing pf is the post newspaper man. he has done so by campaigning for winter while demonising the other camp. so the other camp had to find a way of fixing the post. since they cant stop him, they feels that bringing down winter will be a big blow directed at the untouchable fred. all these divisions in pf would cease if the post stopped campagning for winter, unfortunately pf cant stop them (post) coz they are independence and free to report as they please. so the borne of contention here is the other camps inability to stop fred and therefore have to…

  22. Kabimba did not claimed about the youths being tribal, he claimed about Kambwili , GBM & other bembas in paticular who are criticizing against him;The president said endosements against him is a symbol of democracy.but wats wrong with Kambwili and GBM. BEMBAS avoid being troublesome on other tribes especially LOZIS and TONGAS. Zambia is for all ZAMBIANS. GGGGGiven is looking for JOB thats why he said so.

    • Winter wanted to take undue advantage by starting to run before the whistle is blown, tasting popularity ???.Lubinda’s thought about tribalism in winter’s case is clear, strangely tribal bloggers Can’t accept it ,why???

    • @Drought ..In a democracy freedom of speech is paramount,Lubinda can express himself so can you if you have valid points.think outside the box and accept divergent views.dont get too usesd to only hearing what is pleasant to your hears…

  23. Given is a man of people and principled. My advice to Sata is that based on christian principles and values Given should be given a chance to hold a full ministerial post. or anything that will reflect peace and love.

  24. tongas seem excited by the midget declaration ”pf is tribal” remarks. There is nothing tribal about disciplining a petty bafoon that wants to unseat a seating president.

As for his midget handler, we shall read more and more of ”as so and so said,” from his newspaper. surely battle lines are drawn between midgets and pf not pf and any tribe.

  25. Kabimba, kabimba, kabimba,..,…, how many times have I called? Now is you time to bite the bullet. There many calls from many genuine Zambians to have a cabinet with a national character, to you is was a none starter because if suited you and your ego. Look how low you have fallen SG, no one has ever cried of tribalism in Cabinet and you have to the first one, SG, shame. Really shameful! Now we wait and see the plane carrying MCS back to land, our fingers crossed, we shall hope you will survive this again. But to be honest, your chances are lazer thin no what is that keeps the head of state having you around. You can’t just be as heartless as you have been to everybody but for you ego. The celebrations of your kicking out is looming large. GL will definitely come back …..continued

  26. Now we shall see who is the real winner and the real politician. I tell you SG, there are far more doors to Zambian hearts open for GL than for you. His coming back and your firing will be a celebration of victory. We need to see him combining well with other well meaning and qualitable leaders like Kambwili, level headed and standing for the good of Zambians. Welcome to the revolution.

  27. There is no genuine issue for firing Kabimba imwe ba fikala. What cases to does he have so that he can be fired?Bembas are well known on tribalism even by the time of KK regime.Simon Kapwepwe, was the most tribalistic person in Zambia. What Sata has done on majority bemba a appointments in government positions is a symbol of tribalism.

  28. THE MAJORITY WHO PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR PF WERE BEMBA.

H.E. MC SATA HAD A PROBLEM TO BRING IN MPS & MINISTERS FROM OTHER TRIBES.

LET US BE FAIR WHEN WE DEBATE THE TRIBALISM ISSUE. MOST BLOGGERS JUST SHOW THEIR TOTAL IGNORANCE ON THE MATTER.

EVEN THE NEXT PRESIDENT AFTER H.E. MC SATA’S TWO TERMS OF OFFICE,
I PREDICT WITH 100% CONFIDENCE LEVEL, THAT LUBINDA WILL COME BACK & BE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH. THIS WILL BE THE END OF THIS UNNECESSARY & UNFAIR TRIBAL TALK.

    VIVA H.E. MCS!

  30. Iam seeing the weatherman holding his chair tightly, even his legs are wrapped round the chair legs.He is sweating, swearing and at the sametime pleading for mercy as a group of fat men and women with round faces and big tummies pull him off the chair. He makes a sorry pitiful sight mwe.Meanwhile a light skinned man with wavy hair stands by and ruefully grins with satisification at his predicament .Poor weatherman!!He is like a puppy surrounded by huge lions, all snarling at it.

  31. I like the way some politicians work professionally, the likes of Chikwanda A (Finance Minister), another one who held the same position and worked professionally was the late Emmanuel Kasonde. These are the people hon. Winter Kabimba could have emulated. In Zambia to tell the truth there is no Tribalism. Am neither Tonga nor Bemba and am also either Bemba or Tonga. Embarttled politicians must avoid careless talks of the non existant tribalism. Tribalism is not there among Bembas neither is it there among Tongas. Careless politicians just make it look like that. The PF party structures must discipline Kabimba. Cadres must have a limit as to how far they can go in these issues. If you allow too much powers in the cadres, it may well not be surprising for them to chase any gvt official
