Nkana slay Kalulushi to smell title

Share

Reynold Kampamba today stunned Kalulushi Modern Stars with a hat trick to send Nkana seven points clear at the top of the Faz Super League table.

Kampamba’s three goals helped Nkana to a 4-1 away win at Independence Stadium in a rescheduled Week 18 game.

The striker put Nkana ahead in the 11th minute but Kalulushi equalised ten minute later through Josphat Kasusu who crashed in an unstoppable volley past goalkeeper Charles Mweemba.

Kampamba put Nkana back in the lead in the 26th minute and that is how scores remained at halftime.

Meanwhile, Nkana suffered a setback a minute after the goal when dependable defender Chris Muntahli limped off with an ankle injury.

Kampamba made sure he went home with the ball with his third of the day in the 76th minute before Jimmy Ndhlovu added more misery to Kalulushi’s woes on Wednesday with the fourth goal in the 86th minute.

Nkana move to 54 points, seven ahead of second placed Zesco United with five games left before the 2013 title is settled.

And at Edwin Emboela Stadium in Lusaka, Nkwazi and Red Arrows played out to a scoreless draw.

    • Sate Sate would have scored against Brazil!!
What happened with that Evan Kangwa, so annoying that talent just disappear like that!!

  1. Congratulations Nkana ! Now the championship is in sight. From my calculations, you only need two wins from the five matches remaining to seal the 12th title provided those wins include victory against Zesco.
By the way bloggers, Nkana’s remaining matches are against Power, Zesco, Blades, Arrows and, if my memory serves me right, Nkwazi. Surely Nkana can’t fail to manage two wins from those matches!

  2. Today Nkana were described as the ” Kitwe giants” on the radio ! It has been a long time since I heard Nkana refered to as ” giants ” !
It reminds me of The Post headline when Nkana got demoted to Div 1 for the first time ! It read ” A GIANT FALLS . . .and may never rise again ” . I’ll never forget that headline coz it stabbed me right in the heart ! But we stuck with Nkana through thick and thin !
I think it is almost time for me to see a headline in The Post reading , ” A GIANT FELL BUT HAS RISEN AGAIN ” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Sate Sate must partner the Zambia strike force from today onwards. Now that ka HR the hater is gone, let Sate Sate and Clifford be recalled to national team!!! Congrats Nkana though I would love ZESCOLO to win the league

  6. Ati Patrick Phiri, Bestone Chambeshi and Fighton Simukonda are happy that Nkana is winning. You are very right those are still Nkana at heart

  7. its gud that many of us are taking interest in our local league. my heart is for zesco but this season awe ba nkana namukalipisha. thambs up for kalampa.

  8. Zesco needs to will all its remaining five matches to reach a maximum points of 62. Nkana on the other hand needs to win just two matches and draw three to reach a maximum of 63 points and win the league. Or it needs to win just three matches to win the league comfortably. May the best club win the league.
