MMD President Nevers Mumba has disclosed that his party will participate in this year’s Independence celebrations.

Dr Mumba said the party’s participation in the national event is one way of showing appreciation to the gallant men and women who sacrificed for the attainment of the country’s independence.

According to a statement released to ZANIS today, Dr Mumba said the MMD is dedicated to the commitment towards consolidating national identity as one people through promotion of common heritage.

He said his party will continue participating in national events such as Independence Day, Heroes Day, Thanks giving prayers and Africa Freedom Day celebrations with a strong understanding that those events transcend political battles.

Dr Mumba noted that when his party was in government it extended invitations to the opposition to participate in national events because it believes that it is wrong to shun such national events.

He further said his party’s aggressive battle stand in the political arena will not stop it from upholding principles of civility and that patriotism should be promoted by all political players.

    • All those supporting this Nevers crap have short memories.Independence day symbolises freedom. The PF crap cant even allow you to hold rallies, are arresting opposition leaders for greeting chiefs, and engaging in all manner of nonsense deliberately designed to forestall your enjoyment of your inalienable rights and you fools intend to join them celebrating your independence?Only a nigger can be so stupid. It will take a time when they will start interfering with your right to life[and by that i mean literally killing you] for the *****s to realise what they have in their midst.

    • Nevers is looking for a PF job. He knows Winter will be fired , Guy Scott retired. He is already gunning for VP job. MMD must open its eyes and start looking for a new president.

    • What is with us niggers? Why dont we use history to make decisions on the present and the future?Mumba abandoned his church for a party, abandoned his party for the vice presidency and has of late been seen frequenting Sata.Somehow the MMD sees nothing wrong with this.He intends to attend independence celebrations on Thursday and will be in court on friday attending a case which is a culmination of abuse of his human rights the same rights he should be enjoying as a citizen of an independent Zambia.SERIOUSLY WE SHOULD CONSIDER SELLING THIS COUNTRY AND ABANDONING THIS EXPERIMENT WE CALL RULING OURSELVES.

    • Good move Dr Mumba.I know you’re controlled by the Bible values(Don’t return evil for evil, but return good for evil). Some of these politicians, you wonder what values they follow. They don’t smile, they’re always annoyed.Bring some fresh air in our politics.Sata should not set the standard for our Zambian politics. If Sata did something wrong,Zambia should not continue repeating the same wrong.Keep it up Dr Mumba.Don’t mind these detractors, they don’t mean well. They’re monolistic in thinking/reasoning.

    • Dr Mumba, don’t be discouraged. You’ve have broken this cycle of politics of hatred and bitterness. Some untamed characters may say things which won’t help Zambia.Zambia shall continue to exist beyond Sata,so Sata’s style of politics should not be a standard for our Zambian Politics.

  1. Point let us celebrate the Independence day together as Zambians it is a national event not PF birthday or something ….. well done Mr. Mumba.

  2. ..yes two wrongs don’t make up right……if it was FDD or Heritage in power, Nevers rhetoric could have made sense…but not with the ruling party which shunned all your Govt(MMD) activities …!!!….I wouldn’t mind if the presido reiterates why he shunned national activities then and tell us why it was reasonable then and not now….if your neighbour always turns down your birth day party invitation…don’t just go to his when he invites you…. just send him a card wishing him ‘many more’……newspaper advert will do for Nevers and others….

  3. I saw it coming.

The question is” are PF cadres going to be tamed? are these folks Kabimba GBM Chikwelete, Banda, Nchito RB etc sit together and share the cake>

  4. Mumba you are right on this one! This is not PF’s function or birthday party as some other bloggers have noticed. We don’t celebrate because, the government of the day is giving every citizen free meals, but to honor those who fought for the independence of our country. HH, protesting would not make you president right now, show some quality leadership skills!!!

  5. Way to go Mr Bald Man…This ka diaper boy HH (hubby to Bana HH) thinks that doing the copy cut politics of Sata when he was in opposition will make him popular like Sata!..Gosh! ..Firstly, this shows that the boy is inspired/motivated by Sata politics, two; he is admitting that all is well by going into Satas’ shoes!…The boy deserves to be fornicated using a 3 foot piece of barbed wire for plagiarism of Sata Political Tactics while in opposition which will take the boy NO where near Sata may be near hell…

  6. Had to check people’s reaction to HH before comenting ba busa!
The question is what will be celebrating when you still oppressed people. PF like always will be in party regaria and not national colors. No sense if you ask me

  7. HH has a right to decide for himself why insult him? For all i care you can vote for whoever you want HH doesnt owe anybody anything,he just wants to help the country move forward whilst others are looking for hefty salaries.

  8. MMD, a has been party, what can one expect from its leader who is unprincipled and can be bought? Sooner than later he will jump ship and sell MMD. Major Kachingwe and Cathy Namugala will look like saints .

    • Mumba is destined to be the next president as things stand now. Things will only change when someone else inspiring jumps up. MMD has a solid (non regional foundation) foundation which even Namugala and Major Kachingwe has failed to shake. After losing elections, UNIP was sold off by Sebastian Zulu and Kebby Musokotwane. But MMD sellouts seem to be failing because the party was built on a liberation movement – not individuals or region. The spirits of the galant men and women who sat at Garden House will continue to inspire the party. Go Go MMD.

    • Nevers is correct. The platform you are using to insult others was made possible by the gallant men and women who fought hard to attain what we’ll be celebrating tomorrow. You can not have economic freedom if there’s no political freedom, hence the need for us to celebrate this day. God knows our destiny and not PF. PF will not be there in power forever but we will still be celebrating this day. God Bless us all Zambians!

  9. I salute you Dr Mumba on this one. You could actualy move with PF on some issues wisely and at the end of the day even become more populer. HH has lost on this one. If there is something we have for celebration, its the God given PEACE!! Congrates DR!!

  10. MOST OF YOU BLOGGERS ARE ABROAD AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IS REALLY ON THE GROUND FOR PIPO WHO FEEL THE PINCH TO BOYCOT SUCH EVENTS,SAY THINGS WITH REASONING,HUNGER DEPRIVES A HUMAN BEING OF HIS DIGNITY

    • We do visit and we have relatives, friends and enemies in Zambia. All are telling us what the situation is. I have visited Zambia this year 4 times. We are not all that ignorant of what is happening. Anyway, thanks for your observation.

  11. Yaba i wonder how HH feels after another opposition leader is for the idea of joining the celebrations…. I guess wisdom is not in every leader….Well done Dr Mumba

  12. Mumba has shown a lot of maturity compared to his colleagues in the opposition. He deserves to be given a chance in 2016!!!

  13. DrMumba like any other zambian has got the right to celebrate our national day so to me it is nt necessary for hm to announce publicly. by the way, i still feel H.E President Sata should enlighten the nation why he shunned such events wen in opposition because somehow he has set a precedence. He shud be the last person to condemn others following his foot steps.

    • Sata was/is dull. I prayer that no one should copy Sata’s primitive politics. We celebrate our independence not parties or individuals. All the mistakes we have made after independence are ours – not the former colonialists

  14. Dr Mumba,

Please pump some sense into HH’s skull. We know HH is a political novice, but please help him to accelerate his politica matunrity

    • HH thinks he knows better, among HH,milupi, chikwelete,Kabimba,GBM ,miyanda, chipimo, kaingo,I would vote Dr Mumba for president.

  15. That is my Presido, he has spoken. And he needed to announce in case the members of his party MMD thought they should be pernalised if they attended.

  16. Dr. Nevers Mumba is currently before the Subordinate Courts for various corruption related charges laid against him by the PF Govt. Could this be a placating gesture to have his charges dropped….just thinking aloud!!

  17. Hakainde should go back to his village. Just yapping or is barking is not stuff presidents are made of. You need to discuss real issues. Anyway lets wait and see how many people will act on this foolish idea of his. My suggestion to HH is since he claims Zambians are suffering let him stay hungry on 24.10.2013 in solidarity with those who go without food. I guess its too much to ask.

  18. Met this Mumba man at pick&pay in woodlands for the first time since he abandoned his church for politics,he looked really presidential material i realized that’s why he defeated all those stooges to emerge MMD leader,he should just manage his mouth he may make a good president because he consults widely.Good move on the chase table Dr Mumba.

  19. Dr Mumba usually speaks a lot of sense. He most likely have good advisors and consults widely. He is not as arrogant as that business man who has failed to succeed politically.

Thumbs up to Dr. Mumba. You indeed are presidential material. Don’t be dicouraged.

  20. BUT IWE CHI HALEISA HALENYA ULI CHIPUBA. YOU MUST HAVE BEEN BADLY BROUGHT UP OR YOU are just a thug with no background. UPND PRESIDENT HAS DONE NOTHING TO DESERVE YOUR INSULTS. YOU CAN NOT REASON RATIONALLY BECAUSE YOUR INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY OF EDUCABILITY MUST BELOW GRADE 2. SATA SHUNNED ALL THE NATIONAL EVENTS WHEN IN OPPOSITION. WHAT HAS CHANGED? GROW UP AND USE CIVILISED LANGUAGE WHEN DEBATING. ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT WILL MAKE THIS GREAT COUNTRY TO BE STAGNANT. SHAME ON YOU NUT.

    • Mwami ba Musonda,,you are not helping, not everything Sata did needs imitating by your HH, how can the electorates see the difference? Isolating his party won’t work for him in fact it just distances him from normal national activities just remaining where he is ,Choma central..

  21. AND BA LT WHY BLOCK MY MESSAGE? I HAVE NOT FORWARDED THIS.

  22. naabafula bakolyokolyo apa yee. some are using several blog names to deceive many so that we may think mumba has done a wonderful job. no no no he may be planning to sell out MMD just like he sold off NCC and RP. there is nothing to celebrate imwe except bakandiile who are like hyenas waiting to snatch the spoils.

    • @matipa Sata is a Zambian and this self rule whether up to date or not was brought about by blood being shade by courageous Zambians who we honor by celebrating Independence Day,,tell your HH staying away just makes him unpopular that he doesn’t recognize my fathers effort in bringing self rule that he aspires to also. Thanks Dr Mumba.

  23. NEVERS MUMBA is right, there is no need for childish politics over independence day. HOWEVER, Nevers Mumba has still not presented the key policies and philosophies which his party believes in. AS a result, MMD is like a leaf in the wind – like the Bembas say “ukwalola omwela”. Nevers and his MMD seem to be just floating around the Zambian political scene without any purpose. No wonder PF does not even consider MMD a serious threat. Having NEVERS MUMBA as MMD president is such a waste of time and the MMD will live to regret their silly decision in 2016 when they lose by a wide margin to PF. The MMD would have been more visible and speaking more sense on the political scene if MUSOKOTWANE or MAGANDE or FELIX MUTATI was the president. Nevers Mumba is a complete waste of time.

  24. Short memory Mumba Read this article Flashback: I can’t join plunderers in celebrating independence – Sata

BY BRIGHTON PHIRI, 26 OCTOBER 2003 (The post)

Lusaka — I AM prepared to name some ministers who are corrupt, Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata has said.

Commenting on Zambia’s 39th independence celebrations at State House on Friday, Sata said he could not join plunderers in celebrating the country’s independence.

“If they challenge me I will name some of the ministers who are corrupt,” Sata said.

He said he would not submit to President Mwanawasa’s arrogance because of the independence celebrations. Sata said there was too much deceit and trickery under President Mwanawasa’s leadership.

    He said…

  25. May God help dr Mumba to become President of Zambia in 2016. The man looks presidential, eloquent, smart, able to speak good English….

  26. Yaa Dr Mumba if you continue like this..being mature I can vote for you come 2016. Not these childish HH.

Peace and Prosperity to mother zambia.
