Government has disclosed that the Road Development Agency Board will be appointed by the end of November this year.
Transport, Communications, Works and Supply Minister Mukanga told parliament in a ministerial statement that the relevant ministries and institutions have submitted names of nominees for the board.
Mr. Mukanga informed the house that the names of the nominees are currently under scrutiny.
“The names suggested are currently undergoing normal security screening and once that is done, I will be able to unveil the names,” Mr Mukanga said.
He explained that there have been delays in appointing the board of directors because government institutions handed over the names late.
The Road Development Agency has been operating without a board of directors for about two years with PF Presidential Campaign Manager Willie Nsanda as Board Chairman.
Opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema recently wrote to President Sata questioning the lack of a board at RDA.
Mr Hichilema argued that the agency is currently spending a lot of public funds and operating without a board raises governance concerns.

So it s only during MMD that the ACC had teeth to bite even cabinet ministers suspected of corruption. Are we ever going to this credible upholding of the rule of law under PF? I am very skeptical about such credible action against corruption ever happening under PF.
What is obtaining on the ground regarding the fight against corruption is a clear sign that Sata is pro corruption as opposed to being allergic to corruption.
Come 2016 Sata and his crooks will be caged.
wanzelu.the acc only acts on two conditions.(1)when a suspected act of coruption was done by a non pf member.(2)when a suspected act of coruption was done by a pf member but without links to sata or kabimba.
Most likely so they can keep the money in the family. Deliberately have had no board so they can hide transactions in which they have personally benefited. Bamabala!!!

RDA has only one board member in the name of Zondwa Sata. I don’t think the appointment of board members will go down well with Sata because it will mean too many mouths to share the contractual bribes from foreign road contractors with. We shall, see. I am pretty sure he will appoint only his close relatives to take those positions as always to avoid information leakages.

This is one simple example of checks and balances that the opposition is expected of, had HH not questioned the anomaly at RDA, it would have been business unattended to for a long while and I would like to believe Mukanga has told a lie that the board selection was in process if not that it will be an accelerated action only now that it is in the open. Had there been a verification body to follow up on some statements the true revelation would have come to public knowledge

the relevant organisations shld have its member/s security vetted before nomination and government shldn’t do security clearance when a post is vacant. so the fact that gov’t is involved in the selection process of board member takes away the integrity of the board.

A board after two years? There should be a commission of Inquiry to ascertain what went on before PF was forced to appoint a board. Sata should be ready to answer questions as he is the one who transferred the RDA activities to State House with Nsanda as Executive Chairman contrary to the provisions of the RDA Act. Busholi!

There has been a total disregard of corporate governance since the PF government took over. Examples : ZNBC has been operating without a Board, thus leaving Chibamba Kanyama a supposed corporate governance practitioner to run such a vital institution without oversight. The PS of information and broadcasting was illegaly appointed as Board Chairman of Independent Broadcasting Authority, when the law requires that the chairman be elected by Board Members – there has been no Board but there is a Board chairperson at IBA. ZICTA also doesnt have a board ( unless it was recently constituted ) .
We need a law which requires publication of the names of Board members of all parastatals and their qualifications.
The PF has taken this country back by 30 years. Tragic !

I can forgive Sata for not giving a damn about good corporate practices not Chibamba Kanyama who spent a lot of pre PF government time preaching about good corporate governence practices but ended up accepting an appointment that was contrary to what he had been preaching about,or Mukwita Anthony who would condemn Mwanawasa and RB administrations seemingly for incompetence and all but is now dinning with the devil.Such characters should pay for their betrayal.
