The final draft of the country’s new constitution is ready for printing.

Spokesperson of Technical Committee Ernest Mwansa has disclosed this in a statement released to Qfm this afternoon.

Mr. Mwansa says the final draft of the country’s new constitution will be taken for printing on Friday tomorrow.

And Mr. Mwansa has further disclosed that the Report of Technical Committee on the draft constitution will be ready for printing on Tuesday next week after the deliberations of the last meeting of the committee during which the committee will formally adopt the final draft constitution.

Mr. Mwansa says the committee will thereafter seek an appointment with President Michael Sata for the day of the official hand over of the final draft constitution.

The Technical Committee had set the end of October this years as the month in which to officially hand over the final draft constitution to the President and the public simultaneously.

  1. At least they should have posted the final draft on the Commssion’s website to enable our puruse than a shocker of a Constitutional which will only favour the office bearers!

    • I concur with you biggie Muzo. That measure would have enabled a lot of us see the contents via online. Hard copies may be limited. I therefore wish to make it a request to the committee to consider positing the final draft on their website so we can access it easily.

  2. This story of the set dates remind me of my grand fathers tales he used to share with us in the evening. A kid was always shouting for help when the was no lion. When the real lion attacked no one bothered to help. Just look at the related stories and it will tell a story if these guys can be taken seriously.

  3. Thank you for some effort put into this. And Government should make a provision for a referendum to be run, enabling every citizen to have a say in endorsing the new constitution. It’s long time since Zambia had a referendum, and this is the moment when such an exercise should be undertaken. A Constitution, and not a By-Election, is a very important tool in a country and so it deserves a Referendum for its adoption. If we have money for by-elections then we should have money for a Constitutional Referendum.

    • 100% Mate, mwalasa Boss! Money shouldn’t be an issue. This must have been planned for in next year’s budget no excuse from BOMA this time around.

  4. These guys requested the e extension upto December and technically they got. Half of November will finish with the story of typing and the other half seeking an audience with the President. Stories……..stories and stories
