The opposition MMD says it will organise mass demonstrations against vice president Guy Scott for bringing the party into ridicule after telling the nation that it was the MMD cadres that were perpetuating violence in the Patriotic Front.
MMD president Nevers Mumba said the party was consulting with its lawyers as it was considering taking Scott to court to seek redress if he was not going to apologise.
Mumba who described the utterances by the vice president as unfair said it was the initiative of the youths to hold Scott accountable and that as a party leader he would support them so that the vice president retracts his statement.
And Lusaka province chairperson Watson Mtonga said it was unfortunate that Scott could not explain and tell the truth on what exactly was happening regarding the violence within the ruling party which has resulted in the death of a cadre.
Mtonga who supported his party leader said the party would seek legal redress if the 48 hours ultimatum issued to Scott would not be treated with the seriousness it deserved and that as a party that had been in power before, the MMD was saddened by the violence within the PF.
He said it was very unfortunate that the PF violence had escalated fearing that it was instigating fear in innocent Zambians.
Meanwhile the provincial leader said that as opposition members they did not expect such a statement from Scott because they expected him to condemn violence strongly by directing police to arrest the culprits.
“It is sad to hear such a statement from Scott. We demand that he retracts his statement and if he will not apologise we shall mobilize youths to demonstrate against him. This time around we shall not fear because he has provoked the situation.
“Why should he blame the hooliganism in his party on us when everyone knows that PF is a violent party? Whether we are given a permit by police or not we shall protest and we don’t care what action police will take against us because we want the world to know that Scott is a danger to Zambia’s democracy,” Mtonga said.
He said as a senior citizen Scott was expected to address the issues affecting his party with diplomacy but it was a shame that what he said lacked merit and truth.
Mtonga observed that there was nothing wrong for the MMD to demonstrate the way the PF cadres are doing it throughout the country.
He said as a party they would not be intimidated even if Scott sent them his hooligans to attack them during their protest because it was known by everyone that PF was a violent party.

Its unfortunate you are totally out of touch with what is happening under Sata . Every gathering now requires you to get permission from the PF- police. Even for an MP to go and address his constituency he requires permission from PF – police. That is Sata’s decree by which he rules Zambia today.
If you the read article properly you will know that MMD are expressing concern about whether the PF- police will grant them permission to hold that demo or not.
Wake up from a deep slumber. Zambia is under seige with Sata in power. No more freedom of assembly under Sata except for his machete wielding cadres.

UNIP had violent and most feared cadres called vigilantes who openly beat and killed innocent citizens and the police did nothing.
MMD had the same violent cadres throughout its 20 yrs misrule, they are still active, threatening and we know them by names
PF has joined this wanton behavior and the only difference is that they are slaughtering each other within their ranks.
problem: cadres of party in power think and believe they are invincible, indispensable and power belongs to them to do anything, anytime and sadly, the law enforcement (police) just watch.
This cadre mentality has to stop if we are to move forward as a country

Demosntrations are a preserve of the PF, who, like the barotse “nationals” charged for treason, claim not to be bound by Zambian laws as long as their party remains in power.
Taking the VP to court?? Well, “good luck”, I say, but “may God grant you the favour” is a much more appropriate prayer under the current political climate.
Demonstrating against a sentiment! Shame. There are serious issues affecting our land: PF violence, lack of jobs, poor governance, duped constitution, high cost of living. Not this self centred motive to save yo image
Guy Scot is right, those running around with pangas are the same mmd youths that William Tekere Banda used – now they have no jobs, no money no hope – they are the same youths running markets and bus terminals under the sponsorship and blessings of rb – mmd being out of power and cash strapped, the only hope is pf but alas! Wynter is not ready to compromise and offer free plots/cash – MMD should not shy away from these youths – when in power they were very useful but now out of power you want to discard them. Zambian politics kaya mwe!!!

These party cadres are all the time resigning from one party to the other.Most of them have crossed the PF because it is in power just like you crossed and abandoned your party to MMD because it in was power then.
People who can’t analyse issue like yourself are not worth to become president. Why can’t you just ignore scot or use other means to prove that it is not your members.
