Arrows target Barclays

Share

Red Arrows coach George “Chicken” Lwandamina has shifted focus to Saturday’s Barclays Cup final after failing to win the ended 2013 FAZ Super League.

Arrows face Nchanga Rangers in the 2013 Barclays Cup final in Lusaka.
Lwandamina said he is confident that Arrows will bag the Barclays Cup on Saturday.

He believes that the 4-1 loss his side suffered at Nkana in their final league match on Sunday will not in any way affect the team’s display in the Barclays Cup final.

“Barclays is another thing and this is the league. I am sure we will be able to play well and lift the cup,” Lwandamina said.

Arrows reached the final after eliminating Green Buffaloes at the semifinal stage, while Nchanga saw off Zesco United at the same stage.

Meanwhile, Nchanga are targeting their first silverware since winning the Super League title in 1998

  1. This would have been an explosive match in the 80’s billed for either independence stadium or Dag Hammerskjoeld stadium with Arrows featuring the likes of Ghost Mulenga, Patrick Phiri, Shadreck Chungu, Julius Sholoma, Aaron Njobvu, John Zyambo and System Chilongo. Nchanga Rangers would have the legendary Willie Phiri, Moffat Mutambo, Jim Salimu, Patrick Nkhata, Joseph “Little Joe” Musonda, Emmanuel Sichembe and George Mofya. Then people in compounds would be glued to ITT supersonic 2 band radios listening to commentaries from the legendary Dennis Liwewe. Those were the years, man!!
