Share

Nkana have kicked off preparations for their 2014 CAF Champions League campaign.

The 2013 FAZ Super League champions resumed training on Wednesday morning after a two-week break.

Nkana kicked off the Champions League preparations with some new faces in the squad.

Keeper Rabson Mucheleng’anga, midfielder Shadreck Musonda and defender Maybin Chishimba trained for the first time since joining the Wusakile side recently.

Musonda has joined Nkana from Kalulushi Modern Stars, Mucheleng’anga from Nchanga Rangers and Chishimba has left Power Dynamos.

However, Nkana begun preparations minus head coach Masauso Mwale, key players Ronald Kampamba, Festus Mbewe, Sydney Kalume and Christopher Munthali who are all at the CECAFA Cup in Kenya with the Zambia squad.

Nkana will represent Zambia in the CAF Champions League after winning the 2013 FAZ Super League last month.

The club returns to continental football after a 12-year-long absence.

    • Perhaps the Technical bench knows how to get the best out of him. Mind you, key players during the 2013 League Championship campaign were rejects (bench warmers) at clubs who failed to surpass Nkana FC with their so called cream de la cream. Festus Mbewe and Sydney Kalume were redundant at ZESCO, Christopher Munthali was redundant at Power Dynamo but Nkana has transformed them into national team material and are all at CECAFA right now. From ‘lisaka’ to international player is not play at all. So let’s wait and see what plans the Nkana technical bench has for the new players.

  1. Na bafaula pali Maybin Chishimba. He left Konkola Blades for Zanaco coz of champions league interest despite not been part of winning the championship. He left them after been knocked out and went back to Blades. When Power became champions he joined them and now he has crossed over to the 2013 champions. Nangu mwanakashi, how many men e nga wisha. Somehow, it will not be fair to players who worked hard for Nkana. He will soon leave them. The chap can not withstand the pressure from die hard Nkana supporters since he is indiscipline.

  2. With Nkana having reclaimed its superior position in the Zambian Super league, there is so much expectation not only from Kalampa supporters but soccer fans in Zambia at large. There is a sigh of relief that may be we have gone back to the glorious days when a Zambian team could not be knocked out of a continental cup by a team from Swaziland or Botswana. Whether or not Nkana will save us from that embarrassment, we are eagerly awaiting.
