Zambia face Sudan in Cecafa Cup semifinals

Share

Zambia will face Sudan in Tuesday’s Cecafa Cup semifinals at the ongoing tournament in Kenya.

Sudan booked their semifinal date against Zambia after a convincing 2-0 win over Ethiopia in their Horn of Africa derby in Sunday’s Cecafa quarterfinal doubleheader played in Mombasa.

Sudan took the lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of an own goal from Ethiopia defender Salahdin Barcecho who turned in opponents captain Hamoda Bashir’s corner.

Ethiopia fell further behind in the 69th minute when striker Ibrahim Salah tapped the ball past Ethiopia goalkeeper Derete Alemu from in Bashir’s free kick.

Salah’s goal took his tally to four goals, one more than previous joint top scorer Festus Mbewe who failed to find the target in Zambia’s 4-3 post-match penalty win over Burundi following a scoreless 90 minutes.

Sudan and Zambia will meet in Mombasa on December 10 in a 15h00 kickoff for a place in the December 12 finals in Nairobi.

Kenya and Tanzania will battle for a place in the final at 12h30 in Machakos.

  1. Wow!Time has come for the young chipolopolo to storm the finals of this leaque.sudan is beateable!Bring the cup to zambia. We are rarely behind you.GO!ZAMBIA!GO!(chinyama john in ksm)

    • Not the Sudan that whacked Zambia in Khartoum only a year ago, and certainly not the Sudan that Zambia failed to defeat in Ndola during the return match. Hoping for the best.

    • And their team is still the same unlike the Chipolopolos who are all new and deeply inculcated in Renard’s miss-firing culture.

    • Sudan beat Ethiopia 2 – 0 while Zambia struggled to contain Burundi to a draw! Shouldn’t this tell you something?

  2. Hope PB will find a winning formula against Stuborn South Sudan. North Sudan was beaten by angola in the preliminaries

  3. kampamba where are you?no impact at this year s cecafa.im sure his fan have seen this,we needed people lik moses phiri.

  4. Chamuselu kuli ba zambia.U scored burundi, but nw scoreless in 90 minutes.Zambia waponoka kuli Sudani.Prove me wrong @ the end of the game.We don’t have talented players, only stupid players.Let’s try Local coach, may be things can work out.

  5. One of the commentators of the Burundi game said “Reynald Kampamba is still on the pitch somewhere…..”
We can’t find a ka sharp strike that can feed off the bullying Fetsus Mbewe?

  6. Fi Sudan nafisa nakabili na bola yama delay……When they score first they feign injuries, they waste time unnecessarily and you know they just want to frustrate the opponents. If you want to play Sudan, score them first and in that way you enjoy football. Zambia 2-1 Sudan…….I predict…

    • bro Muhaid Mahieldin Sudan 2:1 Zambia and with dramatic wining at the last 6 mins from the ending of the 2nd half of the added time. Zambian brothers are mocking the Sudan team do they wait for the final whistle … we Sudanese always do ….

  7. Hey ! We are here ! I see the comments above mocking on Sudan ! So now we beated zambia 2:1 , and 1 year ago we did it and beated them 2 , shut up ! Where is your team ? .. Poor teams

  8. Yesterday in the same news paper http://www.lusakatimes.com/ the heading reads:

Sudan test Zambia’s Cecafa unbeaten run

where the writer mentioned some kind of disease never exists between brothers outside the green bitch he writes as recorded in the site:
“The game will mark the two teams second grudge match meeting this year since drawing 1-1 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Ndola with memories of the three points awarded to Zambia also still very fresh on Sudan’s mind.”

which is not true we Sudanese have our ups and downs and trying our best to build a team that make us proud so we do have no time for going back to the gone incidents further more for the quilification for the world cup we copete but according to us the best must represent Africa ….. continue ……..
