President Michael Sata has encouraged Zambians to get involved in the fight against corruption and not fold arms and watch greedy and selfish individuals siphon the much need resources for education, health, infrastructure and delivery of basic services.

In a speech read on his behalf by Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, during the commemoration of International Anti Corruption Day in Lusaka today under the theme: “Zero Corruption, 100 percent development”, President Michael Sata says it is with great sadness that corruption has affected the extent of achievements of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

President Sata notes that the misappropriated resources would have contributed to poverty reduction, narrowing of gender gaps, improvement of health, education and other social services, access to safe drinking water and addressing the environmental sustainability.

He has called upon all Zambians to stand up for justice and the public good, to expose corrupt acts in communities and workplaces by reporting all forms of corruption to relevant authorities.

President Sata has since implored the media to partner with Zambians in advancing an anti-corruption drive for sustainable development of the nation.

Speaking at the same event, Anti Corruption Commission Chairperson, Justice Timothy Kabalata, says the commission will continue to discharge its mandate of spearheading the fight against corruption in a professional, impartial, and dedicated manner.

Justice Kabalata says the commission is hoping for stronger partnerships with key stakeholders not only during such events, but throughout the year in the quest to fight corruption.

Speaking earlier, African Parliamentarian Network against Corruption (APNAC) Chairperson Cornelius Mweetwa applauded Mr Kabimba for being a whistle blower in the fight against corruption by coming out in the open and declaring that there are some Cabinet Ministers who are corrupt.

Mr. Mweetwa has since urged Mr. Kabimba to go a step further by reporting the matter to the Anti Corruption Commission.

And Transparent International Zambia (TIZ) President, Lee Habasonda, has recommended that government works hard to ensure that it puts to end resource irregularities in government institutions and agencies as one way of fighting corruption in the country.

Mr. Habasonda has since welcomed President Michael Sata’s move to blacklist all plunders as this will go a long way in the fight against corruption.

And UNDP Country Representative and Officer in Charge, Viola Morgan, has congratulated the government for having made a steady progress in reducing corruption.

  1. How will that be achieved when the ACC has to seek permission from Sata to probe any of his corrupt ministers like Kabimba and GBM. Sata ‘s fight against corruption is all one big joke.

    • Who cares, Africans or her with zambians are born corrupt, the genes exist in their DNA so it as impossible as walking on water

This is an impossible tak because certainly in Africa corruption pays, if you are benefitting from it.

An improbable task, reporting to the Police is only done when someone is jealous or they can not benefit from the vice

You don’t have to agree with me, because I know I am right!

      Thanks

    • Wanzelu, that is how thieves hoodwink innocent citizens to perpetuate their evil of corruption. There is no shame to make such national address when corruption is taking place under Sata’s watch. Mr Mwwwtwa makes a poignant view of this hypocrisy by PF government. Let Kabimba report to ACC PF ministers he alleged were corrupt in his government and the public is aware of these corrupt PF ministers.

    • hello hello hello,,, Mr kabimba, heads of states are touching down in jo`burg now for the funeral tomorow,, kenya, senegel, Obama and group are landing tommorow.. 100 head of states have confirm so far… Is Zambia going by road?? am sure our collora helicopter wont be a match to the likes of Airforce one

    • MUSHOTA

Since you of African and have Zambian DNA – You have just admitted to have been born corrupt from the time you dropped from your mothers womb.

So what will you do about this corruption your corrupt president is talking about?

    • Lusakatimes, why dont you shut off this entity called mushota.i know there is freedom of speech but we are on a war here for us as a people. There is enough persecution of us economically, culturally through the white supremacist system which of late has hidden itself so well that it is not readily identifiable, but is there believe me.We can not afford to have within our ranks people who put us down through stigmatisations which are borne of imperialistic principles.Harriet Tubman during the underground railroad, carried a gun which she used to threaten the fugitives if they became too tired or decided to turn back, telling them, “You’ll be free or die.” Sometimes we might become forced to shut down, kill or silence our own for the benefit of many if the one becomes a liability to all.

    • The cause is greater than the one. No man or woman or entity shall be greater than the goals we have set for ourselves as a self determining people. (kujichaguliya)
I know this entity called mushota passes all these comments not out of seriousness but perhaps as satires or jokes. But it should be realised here that we are are dealing with a serious problem of the African man and woman. We are tyring to get us off our knees and we are still weak and can barely stand on our own two feet in terms of belief and knowledge of self. It is too early to have such satirical statements. We are still weak to laugh about it,we may do that in the future but not now when our men and women are still gullible to all sorts of dogma and might actually take in these satires as gospel truth.

    • Mushota, why are you scared of your own fear?
The fact is that you have been “hiding” and only replying on other peoples comments, to continue carrying your misconceptions because you are scared of your own fears. You know the fact that you are scared indeed of your fears to hearing or rather reading people’s replies to you. Running away from your own shadow. The truth is you’re Black and Zambian. All you need is to find solutions and NOT your ever NEGATIVITY.
I wonder how and when will you grow up please?
It’s the same corruption which took you wherever you are now, and today you’re yapping.
You need alagizi, and pump up some drums for you maybe you can possess some cultural heritage of positivism.
      Uzakula liti?

    • Yes, sending relatives to diplomatic mission and appointing relatives and friends to government positions without rectification by the members of parliament is total corruption. I hope HH, Nevers, president Sata and the people who were drafting the New Constitution have included; rectification by parliament all key government positions appointed by the president. I wonder what corruption professor Clive Chirwa has committed and what crime he would be charged. If a person was planning to steal then somehow fails to steal by any reason, would that person be charged for stealing or attempted murder? Former ZR board of directors amuse me, they knew Clive was one of shareholders and did not approve the recommendation by Clive. Just making noise that Clive was corrupt. The boss became CEO-ZR

  2. the speech was read by his criminal mate of ilunda chalo corruption company. pretenders will be fished out come 2016. you will pay back the kickbacks you got from trafigura for oil procurement which you shared with your boss

  4. These guys are real jokers….they bite, then massage your wound, whilst preparing for another bite. They make me sick! Whatever goes up ba kembo imwe………

  5. How can a speech written by Kabimba for Sata read by Kabimba be Sata’s speech. Kabimba is the leader of the party why not take ownership to the speech.

  6. Just yapping as usual and call themselves learned.Ata bane!Be objective. Pick yo evidences and go to Acc.From there we can see what happens instead of hallucinating 24hours,7days and 365 1/4days. Especially this fo ol u call Wanzelu.

  7. Here we go again, serious comedy. Angola even doing better than Zambia. Too much nepotism and violence bringing our nation down to the stone age era. Whoever thinks in this gov’t that there would be any kind of development while the poor are used to be involved in infighting must wake i up when me get up.

    • @The London Eye

As clean as the toilets he used at Victoria station in London. What do you expect from a person who carried bucket full of faecal matter (Amafi) In those days takwali ama flashing toilets in London ka. So Ba Sata was literally carrying them buckets full of amafi. You think the man can be happy. He is haunted by his past life London.

  8. Only after practicing neopotism by exhausting the appointments of his relatives, and by allocating development projects to his province. Shame on him, and how dare he comes out through a third party to denounce corruption atase!! Always talking through people use less!!

  9. Mr kabimba that company(ilunda Chalo ltd) you are directors, with Mr sata. is getting government contracts don’t you think that’s corruption ?

And those sub standard ,cost inflated and cadre contracted road projects don’t you think that’s corruption ?

  10. Mr kabimba that company(ilunda Chalo ltd) you are directors, with Mr president. is getting government contracts don’t you think that’s corruption ?

And those sub standard ,cost inflated and cadre contracted road projects don’t you think that’s corruption ?

  11. It was the President’s speech and Hon. Kabimba did not author it.

The noise and fuss he made at ACC that day he was summoned renders the President’s points about corruption in that speech to sound hollow.

  12. If Sata is serious with Corruption can he fire his two deputy ministers how have been told by The Auditor General to pay back the money for buying second hand landcrusers. We are told that government does not buy second hand vehicle where is this coming from Mr.Sata and your ministers from Mwasabombwe.

Why having no board fot RDA upto now and you say your are fighting corruption.Abashi Sata ,

  13. ALL PRESIDENTIAL AND MY SPEECHES AS CEO, ARE WRITTEN BY MY PERSONAL ASSISTANT AS LONG AS THE ARTICULATED THEME IS FROM ME.

  14. After the sermon, Bob told the preacher, “I cannot accept what you said today. God would never be that cruel.” The preacher seemed baffled. “All that I said is that there is life after death.” Bob said, “Life? I thought you said that there is wife after death!”

  15. Fight against corruption is for every body and it should start from our families. If we do not join them then we should not complain, Hon. Kabimba should be man enough to report those Ministers he claimed are corrupt, if not then he should resign for misinforming the nation.

  16. President No Brain speaks through his Corrupt mouthpiece.
If my memory serves me right, the President interfered with the fight against corruption, by threatening the now inept Anti Corruption agency against doing their job properly, unless they had his permission to investigate.
Makes a mockery of the whole A.C.C farce.

    Realistic (relevant, reasonable, results-oriented).
These same men generally consume an insufficient amount of
vegetables, fruits, and whole grains in their diet, and they probably do not drink enough water.
