National Restoration Party (NAREP) President Elias Chipimo said Zambia is in dire need of genuine leadership to help overcome the problems people are facing.

Speaking when he featured on a live program on North Western Television in Solwezi last night, Mr Chipimo said the major problem facing the country is lack of good leaders who can provide solutions that will help the people of Zambia get out of poverty among other challenges.

Mr Chipimo said that politicians should understand that politics is about people and that politicians should put the interests of the people first before their own interests.

He added that the ruling Patriotic Front lacks a framework to govern and this is why many things have gone wrong in the country.

Mr Chipimo said that constructing roads, building schools and other infrastructure developments is not good enough because people need decent jobs and empowerment.

He further stated that the performance of the Patriotic Front since coming to power has been below par due to lack of preparation to govern the country.

Mr Chipimo said that NAREP is ready to bring true and meaningful development to the country.

  1. And how does a man who has never held public office or let alone won any seat in Parliament now the dimensions of leadership? Our opposition is laughable; two people from the corporate world and one from the clergy and we expect to change governments?
I would say, please, PF, do not damage the country so that when true leaders arise 20 or so years from now, they’ll have somewhere to begin from!

    • So you are parroting Sata who’s fond of asking his opponents to first serve as ward chairmen, councillors, MPs and ministers before aspiring for the presidency. The path to the top is not a straight line and Sata’s path is not ordained for the rest to follow.

    • Good question!! I concur with you 100%. This Chipimo is just as ‘good for nothing’ like HH. They are under 5 boys. These two boys to rule Zambia in the next 20 years, can’t never.

    • @the lord vomit
leadership is not acquired but in born. you do not need to be a ward chairman first before you are able to comprehend issues of the economy of a country, just education but it is not true in reverse. so you 1diot stop singing the song of illiterates

    • Well, who said anything about lauding the PF? The point in the argument is that between all political parties, there is indifference.
Also, if you believe that PF will not govern for at least up to 2020, then you are deluded.

    • I concur with you Lord Voldemort. The chap is too inexperienced and naive to tell apart good from bad leadership. He is birds of the same feathers with his fellow under 5 HH.

    • @Matipa- Do not be deluded, there is not a single post-independence struggle president that has held the presidency as their first public office!
Get your head outta your behind and start thinking straight!

    • This is the reason this country has remained in this deplorable state. People like you who have been convinced by power hungry politicians who have no vision for Zambia to believe that only a person that was a Councillor at one time should be president are actually a danger to this nation. Please grow out of this nonsense. Chipimo has actually hit the nail on the head. Leadership in this country especially under Pf is mediocre. We need to do away with this UNIP legacy. It is of no use to this country. Lets move on with modernity. What we have is what professor Ali Mazrui calls ” development without mordenisation”. We need seriousness.

    • @Destroyer- I will make time to argue with you when Chipimo has at least 1 member of parliament to contend with. As it is, you are far behind on the statistical grounds!

    • @Lord something yo thinking is so shallow u think like yo pf who needs to be a ward something to become a president those days are gone we need a man who can who understand national spending, inflation etc this z 21st centually welcome bwana.

    • Zambia at crossroads.
Who is a councillor. Those chaps i see them who dont even know their MP. They can not speak or even add 1+1?
MPs so many of them have no problem understanding why they are there apart from voting to pass the bill.
Is not the reason the man does not attend your funerals because you can not vote in Parliament?
As a matter of fact, whether Chipimo HH or not, a new young president educated is necessary.
Gone are days to be watching grand grand fathers because of ni Ndochi

  2. Ichaiche ichi nacho ukusabaila ! It is easier said than done mwana.Wait until you hold even a simple public office and not that makeshift law office of yours.

  3. How do you call yourself Dark Load and you think you can be normal. Shame on you Mr Man. Mr Chipimo has said what the people know. He is simply voicing out on the issues that affect people. Viva Ba Chipimo. Keep it up and well done. At least you have listened and you are touching the grassroots.

    • It’s just laughable because once in a while comes a politician who promises some change to a handful of supporters and they believe it. I guess the very reason why we have many small impromptu churches springing up with new believers. Elias Chipimo does not have experience in leadership and such leaders who argue based on temperament of the citizens cannot govern. Elias is the ‘unelectable” version of HH.

    • I concur with Lord Voldemort as he is very analytical of the Zambian political landscape. HH will still do better than Elias in 2016 despite the fact that HH will not win the 2016 presidential elections. The fact that we need an educated president is neither here nor there. The majority of our people have little or no education and have an akinness with certain politicians.
Political experience also commands alot of influence in our country. A person of Felix Mutati or Ng’andu Magande’s stature would do very well as a politician if they can manage to governise the masses with their political ideology and orientation.
Yes, I am with Lord Voldemort that Sata will rule beyond 2016. Governance that Chipimo is championing is a complex concept as far as the Zambian political system stands.

  4. OMG… Who calls Corpus Globe, the largest Law firm is Zambia the Makeshift office? Fwenkula do you know what you are talking about. Frustrated dependant you are.

  5. Chipimo don’t listen to these naysayers ati you’ve never held public office to be a good leader. If this were true then luminaries like Gnadhi,Mandela or Che Guevara would never have dared to change our world like they so effectively did.

“It laways seems impossible until its done”- Neson Mandela.

  6. Chipimo, nothing really he has done anyone can put a finger on so what the heck do u think u capable of doing to the nation…Start with yourself first, get organized..

    • These two young men in the names of Chipimo and HH think to be a president is like asking a woman’s hand for marriage? Just because they are married and have money does not mean you are suitable to be a president, no, no, no. So when a few people tell you that you are presidential material, you believe them? They just want to eat with you. HEMCS has come from very far; it has been a very long walk to plot one. Not just waking up and declare that up and down can only be lead by a certain tribe!!! Just wait for 2016, then judgement will be laid bare. I for one is fed up of your rantings.

  7. Mandela was never a ward councilor nor was he an MP, he was a simple ex-jailbird who became the first black president of the great nation of South Africa and the world’s most revered political and human rights icon. If your argument about experience was logical Zambia right now would be having the best president but alas, our man only has a lot of BAD EXPERIENCE in leadership skills. Who wants such experience?

    • Referring to Mandela’s example is a little ill-read. I do not see how a black man can lose an election in a country with black people comprising 75% of the electorate.
Any individual that led the ANC at the time would have taken office and deep inside you are afraid to accept the facts.

    • @ Socrates, ulicipuba? Why compare Mandela to Chipimo? You even know the reason why Mandela became president, sympathy is one of them in addition to the black majority.

    • @lord vomit
no matter how many blog names you use, people are still able to tell that you keep on changing them to create an impression you are many with a similar view. nei. we know behaviour of 1diots, they fail to cover their tracks. kaponya iwe there is nothing to defend

    • Iwe Matipa from muddy rain mixed with cow dung, learn to argue respectfully, Lord Voldemort has put down his argument and yours is to call him Kaponya? Seriously, you are a sore loser!
Truly, bringing down apartheid was inevitable and if Oliver Tambo was still alive he would have been the first black president of South Africa. Yes, Mandela was great, but only because he brought reconciliation to those who hated him and who persecuted him and all his black people in South Africa. Being elected president for the great Mandela was nothing, but finding that spirit of forgiveness is what made that great son of Africa, a legend. MHSRIP!

  8. Only empty tins believe in the so called ”experience” which in actual sense is fake. The so called ”experienced politicians’ who have been on the political arena from times immemorial in this country, what special difference have they rendered to this poor country apart from stealing, corruption, tribalism, nepotism and so on and so forth ? Sometimes I personally doubt the brain capacity of those who always sing songs of praises even where it is not due. Some politicians who could have rendered much to this country in terms of economic development are the opportunity by many numskulls simply because of their age or probably tribe, simple and not because they lack the vision to move this country forward.

  9. MWAICE IWE, JUST JOIN US IN THE WORKING CLASS OR THE YOUTH LEAGUE!

Please read again MANDELA, Gandhi AND Che Guevara’s life profiles. They had were gainful employment and taxable employment before they took up challenges of politics. They, like Obama first started using their legal and medical skills to assist the masses.

  10. MWAICE IWE, JUST JOIN US IN THE WORKING CLASS OR THE YOUTH LEAGUE!

Please read again MANDELA, Gandhi AND Che Guevara’s life profiles. They were all in gainful and taxable employment before they took up challenges of politics. They, like Obama, first started using their legal and medical skills to assist the masses.

  11. Problem with these under five politicians is that they have always failed to blend with the needs of the masses. They think that if they speak good english and expound on few academic issues, then they become politicians! Unfortunately they are always going in parralel with the political situation that is in existence and no one can properly read the political moods of the masses! To make the mattress wet, the chaps have lamentably failed to gain political capital out of the few blunders that the PF has made! When Sata single handedly formed PF, he was making an impact at each and every election! When did Chipimo form his party and what impact has he made? When did Mutesa, Miyanda, Hichilima, Mumba start politics and what impact have they made? These parties just exist for statistical need

  12. Its astounding how so-called progressive bloggers are actually so reactionary! Chipimo is a leader of a party. He is intelligent and conscious of his surroundings. He can assess what he thinks the country needs. Some bloggers then ask for experience in leadership! Sata has massive leadership experience doesn’t he? So do a lot of his fellow dinosaurs in govt. What they have exhibited is the kind of leadership you want?
Learn while you are still young. Take the reins of leadership while you are still in your prime. For when you become old, most of you become reactionaries!

    • Chipimo is merely ambitious. Can you compare Sata’s leadership qualities against Chipimo’s with a straight face? Chipimo has no track record and so far, we do not know whether he is a socialist, a capitalist, a communist or whatever he stands for. Has Chipimo even cited one economic policy of his? What are Chipimo’s views on religion, social injustices? Has Chipimo ever proposed a budget to oppose PF’s? When people like Chipimo talk about quality leadership, you ought to take it with a pinch of salt!

  13. Its wonderful to note that this under 3 politician is acknowleding that there is massive “constructions of roads, schools and other infrustructural developments”. If we have such things happening, then we are on the right track because we have seen situations where some politicians embarked on such developments towards elections and the result was a disaster for them! Bwezi is still around go and ask him! He cried his lungs out after embarking on “formular one constructions” towards elections and then he crashed!

  14. it is preposterous to think that only sick men can rule our country and to be president you need to have experience.Experience has never been a leadership quality because it can be acquired.Character is of autmost importance and the following are but the essential few

A sense of purpose: The values of an Zambia must be clear

Justice: Everyone in an Zambia should be held to common standards, with rules and procedures that are clear, firm, fair, and consistent.

    Temperance: A leader must strive to maintain a proper balance of emotions;

Respect: The dignity of every Zambian is the concern of any leader, and this is preserved by treating all cabinet (citizens)with respect and ensuring they treat one-another similarly, regardless of differences.

Courage: Leaders are paid to set…

  15. Unfortunately Elias falls in the same category. Poor leadership skills with no heart for the people but his own political ambitions. One of these days this chap will actually say what he would do if he were elected to lead the nation. All we get from him is PF this PF that. Tell us how you would get Zambians out of poverty and other challenges!

  16. All I can say to Chipimo is this, ‘when you ride a tiger with a smile on your face into the bush, the tiger will come back with a smile on its face with you a having been a good meal now in its stomach.’ Ba Chipimo, opposition politics is tough, very tough. You cannot be galavanting with Sata to Brazil and later criticise him….nix!! You cannot be at State House for this and that function, however alluring, and hope to box the man inside plot one…..malabish. Remember, just like our court system is adversarial so is our political system. I suppose you spent too much time doing corporate law work instead of criminal gut wreching work of the like of Nicholas Chanda et al!!! Wake up boy, this is guts and blood stuff. Nothing nice….its dog chew another’s backside!! Ninkondo…

  17. What do you learn from being in politics in Zambia for a long time? you just learn how to cheat, how manipulate poor people, corruption, how to steal votes and other bad vices that are taking this country backwards. So please, lets try to change politics in this country and this can only happen if we have new policians with genuine and modern approach to politics. These old politicians who have been in UNIP, MMD, PF are too spoiled to change.

  18. STRICTLY SPEAKING, ZAMBIA NEEDS GENUINE LEADERS. MR CHIPIMO IS RIGHT. THE CURRENT OPPOSITION IS IN CHAOS. AND THEY DONT SEEM TO HAVE LEADERS WHO ARE GENUINE. THE PF IS THE ONLY PARTY WITH A SEMBLANCE OF LEADERSHIP. BUT THEM TOO DO NOT HAVE GENUINE LEADERS. THE PF IS NOT INSPIRING. BUT WORSE SO THE OPPOSITION. THERE IS NO NEED TO BE PARTISAN HERE. THE PF IS SORT OF A BETTER EVIL IF YOU WANT. MY PRAYER IS THAT GOD MAY RAISE UP LEADERS WHO ARE GENUINE, NOT BITTER BUT WITH A CLEAR VISION. NOT LEADERS WHO KEEP FLIP FLOPPING. MAY GOD SHOW US SUCH LEADERS. I ALSO HOPE THAT OUR CURRENT LEADERS MAY LEARN FROM SOME OF THEIR SHORTCOMINGS. AND GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  19. Chipimo you are the man. Please keep it up and we are behind you your fellow young people. We are tired of old midalas. Shax.

  20. In fact, of the 5 presidents, Sata is the only one to have risen from a Ward Councilor and you can see what a disaster he has turned out to be………..Completely at sea and out of depth..

  21. PROMOTION NEITHER COMES FROM THE EAST NOR FROM THE NORTH, BUT FROM ABOVE (GOD). GOD BRINGS LEADERS, THEY COME AND GO!!!!!!!!!

WHERE HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A UNIVERSITY THAT OFFERS COURSES ON PRESIDENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY FELLOW ZAMBIANS DO NOT BE SHORTSIGHTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DONT DESPISE ANY, EVERYTHING HAS ITS OWN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. It is very disappointing to hear how so many people who comment on this site lose it. Leadership does not require experience, it is simply a gift from God and you don’t acquire it. Think for once, even the man at plot one did not have any presidential experience until he got there. Even if he worked as a cop, Councillor, MP and what have you! that did not give him experience of presidency. There are so many great leaders in this world that have never been cops, ward chairpersons, councilor etc. Tell me what you have gained from these experienced men? Uncle Plot, Grand. Munkombwe etc. Lets learn to put aside emotions and passions when analyzing serious issues.

    • Even our current President started talking about leadership before he had even a councilor why today do you want to give Chipimo that condition of having an MP? Anybody can talk about leadership including those who are not in politics. The best you can do is learn from his observation.

  23. CHIPIMO IS MAKING SENSE, I HAVE STARTED SUPPORTING HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LETS GIVE CHIPIMO SUPPORT LIKE WE GAVE SATA EVEN WHEN SOME PIPO SAID HE IS NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. What Chipimo has said is very true. I think NAREP has sense they have a uniting and different way of approaching issues. The PF have totally failed us those who are supporting go take a risk assessment of Pf popularity now.

  25. How do you empower an ignorant or illiterate population? Decent jobs can only be achieved if many people have access to higher education, Chipimo should ask himself if he will feel empowered if he did not have his degree? He is luck his family had money to send him overseas to study for his degree! Not many Zambians have this privilege, that is why building more Universities should be welcome by any patriotic Zambian. Chipimo wants to treat education as if it is for select few, everyone deserves a shot and this can only be possible if many places are available in colleges and universities. A DECENT JOB is a Zambian myth! Any job is DECENT as long as it pays a good salary, It is wrong to start classifying jobs into good, bad or decent in the country! A job is a job!!

  26. If building schools, roads and infrastructure developments are bad for the country according to Chipimo, how does he expect to empower people with no skills or basic education?
Chipimo should ask economists the importance of an educated population instead of making these shallow comparisons which makes him out of touch with many Zambian youths. As the Chinese saying goes ” If a man wants a fish, teach him how to fish and he will forever fish for his meal”. People acquire skills to empower themselves in schools, Chipimo did not acquire his legals skills at home, he was taught at University! What is wrong with people having access to skills to empower themselves? NAREP is becoming irrelevant in the Zambian political scene, never attack education if you want to rule any country!

  27. MIG, U HAVE MISQUOTED CHIPIMO. HE IS NOT SAYING ACQUIRING SKILLS IS WRONG, HE SAYS, ALL WHAT THE PF IS DOING IS GOOD BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE US BE OUT OF POVERTY.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE SHALL NOT WAIT FOR THE INFRASTRUCTURES TO BE COMPLETED AND THEN HAVE JOBS. SOME OF THEM WILL TAKE AS LONG AS FIVE TO TEN YEARS, SO U WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE SKILLS. HOW OLD WILL BE MIG.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. @MIG Mr chipimo is only trying to put across a point that we need to do more and a clear fact is that the PF is more concentrated in by elections as a major priority. Have large numbers in parliament does not matter what matters is are the living standards of people being improved?NO. I Think NAREP has a unique approach to issues.
