Many of people are reported to be flocking to the Zambezi River source in Ikelenge district to fetch water believed to have healing powers for different illnesses.

Ikelenge District Commissioner Shatewa Ndumba told a tourism stakeholder consultative meeting today that every day the Zambezi source is packed by a lot of people with 20 litre containers lining up to draw the water.

She said the water from the Zambezi source is believed by some people to be capable of curing HIV/AIDS.

“Right now if you go to Ikelengi at the Zambezi source, you will find people lining up with 20 litre containers drawing water to use as medicine,” Ms Ndumba said.

A one day tourism stakeholders meeting was organised for District Commissioners, Council Secretaries and heads of government departments from the 10 districts of the province.

The meeting is intended to take stock of the tourism potential and available land for developing tourism amenities in North Western province.

This is with the view of packaging the potential for promotion among would be investors and tourists.

At the end of the meeting a provincial promotion committee is supposed to be constituted to guide the destination of North Western, an undertaking that is supposed to inform and educate investors and tourists about the potential for tourism in the province.

    • Government is not doing enough to protect vulnerable and desperate people hence the trips to Nigeria to TB fimofimo and now – the source of the Zambezi?

All these adverts that appear in news papers about fake doctors, snake and crocodile oil for penile enlargement, greedy traditional healers should be banned and made illegal.

    • Nostradamus,

I do indeed have serious issue with fake preachers who tell followers to stop taking ARVs, fake traditional healers who rob sick people of the little they have left and those who peddle fake natural remedies and cures. The worst offender is our hapless gabament that stands by watching while it’s citizens fall prey to these misleaders.

As for the green mamba oil, I have no issue. It works wonderfully well.
Pray I do not meet your wife, girl friend or concubines as they shall forever be singing my praises and telling all and sundry of the size and power of my wonderful member a.k.a. my fifth limb.

I can source you a bottle of the finest green mamba oil.
You of course pay nothing until you see the results.

  1. There is too much superstion in africa and this is a biggest factor that has retarded development. Any ways like they say “Chichetekelofye na ameshi ya la Kola” its your faith that will make things happen.

    • Why on earth wouldn’t water from the Zambezi have curing proeprties.. whats so superstitious about that my fellow citizen? It could be there are special elements in the water with healing properties… it could be the ZAmbezi has a high purity level, it could be the water is very alkaline.. People, white people flock to the dead sea to get mud from there and all sorts which has healing properties… I say our rivers including Zambezi have healing properties, these are holy ancient waters, Zambia is holy ancient land of our ancestors, the first humans on the planet lived in our country. Must we wait until bA ZUNGU begin flocking here for us to believe?

  2. Start charging entry fee but don’t let the money get to Lusaka because Sata will take it to Muchinga. learn from what has happened to your cousins in solwezi who still have dirty roads, bad infrastructure while sata is building universities and roads in muchinga at the expense of Solwezi.

    • @ Chitokoloki…… ulicipuba sana iwe, always bringing the president’s name in nonsense tops. Looks like some of you don’t sleep tefyo.

    • Imwe naimwe bafikala fimbi mule sula ko…amenshi kuti ya pawa shani? How can water finish…The Zambezi feeds the whole of Zambia in fact you ll find it in Bemba land too going by the name Chambeshi/Zambezi same thing, further it flows all the way down to North Africa I believe, I believe it might be the same water that flows all the way upto the Nile, so should the Zambezi be for one tribe or tribes and not others…how stupid and backward you are…YOUR thinking and utterances are the same ones that are dragging all of us down in Zambia…Repent you stupid I.D.T.S

    • Here is a quote from Bashi Lubemba’s audio recording published in September 2013, “Tapalamoneka icatunguluka kuno ku Lubemba iyo. Ngawaenda Ulubemba lonse kuti waluba nefyo aba Bemba bengalasenda nefyakulya fyabo pantu imisebo takuli, finshi takuli” (Nothing has been done here in Lubemba at all. If you tour the whole of Lubemba you would wonder how the Bembas would transport their produce because there are no roads, there is nothing). So if there was development in Lubemba as you are alleging why would Bashi Lubemba lament like that? Don’t mislead people with your hatred.

Those of us who listened to the lamentation by Bashilubemba herd how Sata how not delivered anything in Lubemba and I quote “Imisebo takuli. Bushe aba Bemba bakulas

    • I am yet to see one person who believed in Jesus and lived a life insulated from hunger poverty and disease like all other mortals. Everyone, including Chibesa of the Glorious Band (an avid proponent of incessant praying in times of trepidation), is dead. “Noyu wine ulepunga, euleuleta” ( in his words, indicative of the that deep-seated belief in the supernatural: wisdom of our ancestors).

See, you guys talk about the power of Jesus, the ritualistic blood of Jesus and all the nonsense, when you are in well fed and healthy. When it gets to the wire, you run back to our ancestral ways. By that time, it is too late. Stick with yourselves people. Our ancestors survived trials and tribulations of their time not because they were stupid. Ignore their wisdom at your own peril.

      Quit…

    • sattish “POINT” i have come to realize too that thats the reason most of our generation have lost their ways because they are forgetting who they are..you cant go anywhere by forgetting your history, your roots and just stick to the religion you are taught today. just because the white man came and changed all their thinking and told them that whatever was about them was evil, but they keep forgetting that we as bantu lived a more loving well cultured life before these people brought all these problems

  3. Faith and believing in anything is human. Before Jesus and long after Jesus, we africans believed and had faith in Rocks, Rivers, Animals, mountains, snakes, Big trees, and name them. This how it was, it is, and ever shall be.

    • @chitalu how can u say before Jesus and after Jesus..” nothing has been before Jesus and nothing shall ever be after Him. He is the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the ending

    • @Zedian, that what you have read or been taught. What if you never knew what you know now, would you be living with the guidance of prayer in rocks, rivers, snakes, etc?

  4. The bridge on the picture of the story is found in Chinyingi Mission in Zambezi District while the source of the Zambezi river is in Ikelelge District. The picture therefore serves no purpose. You would have put the thick forests under which the river sprouts.

  5. On a lighter moment…….
Water is a Spirit, IT CALLS! Infact Nature has more healing power more than anything, just search properly and carefully, you will find that one spirit of healing from nature! I trust it more than some people, Thank you!

  6. Ignorance and plain Idiosyncrasy! HIV virus was/is man made and was developed, enacted and approved by the British House of commons way back in the late fifties and early sixties to implant in us blacks ‘INTOMBA’, especially in former British colonies in Africa notably; Eastern, Northern & Southern African countries.

You will note that this Virus was/is more prevalent in English speaking countries and NOT much in Angola, Mozambique etc., who were under the Portuguese and other European nations. Please “read” between the lines, why do you think that the British are now trooping back to Zambia en mass? Typical of you, you have already forgotten about the tons of Poisoned BEEF you’ve been munching recently and brought in by Zambeef including, drinks like CHIBUKU made from GMO…

    • You are telling the truth about HIV…in fact there is evidence of documents from the US house of Congress in the 60’s when Kissinger was secretary of state, approving research for biological weapons, to terminate us…but the Zambezi, its very feasible that the water has healing properties..

  7. I cant just stop laughing at some of the posting…ati believe in Jesus Christ. Okay believe in him and them go have unprotected sex with an HIV infected prostitute we see if you will come out clean? Don’t drag the name of the lord in issues where your own personal responsibility must apply, shaa?

  8. …Zambezi water source is supposed to be a ‘heritage’ site…..protected site…no human activity aloud within certain radius…..
That’s what desperation can breed…..if some-one came up with info that a tail of a lizard can cure HIV….you will see how the innocent lizards will be ‘disabled’…..

  9. @ Chitokoloki TB Joshua and your minions.
Here is a quote from Bashi Lubemba’s audio recording published in September 2013, “Tapalamoneka icatunguluka kuno ku Lubemba iyo. 10. @16,iwe what are u trying to prove? Are pipo there gullible like u demon. U that are dragging the Lord or his humble servant ,Tb Joshua into yo unobjective comments stop it!

  11. Healing? Give us a break!
One of these physically and mentally sick chaps may at some point get the notion that they can infect all of us by polluting our source of water.

Sorry, but we were not there when you were feeling nice.

Someone should however chase these people from that heritage site. There business there is founded on lies and desperation.
