MMD President Nevers Mumba has demanded that President Micheal Sata should immediately call for a general election.

Dr. Mumba said the rate at which MMD parliamentary seats are being nullified is unacceptable and retrogressive.

Dr. Mumba said that if MMD Members of Parliament   were fraudulently elected, then President Sata was also fraudulently elected as Republican President.

Dr. Mumba has charged that the PF is deliberately destroying democracy as it has targeted to nullify 33 MMD seats.

He was speaking during a state address this morning at his Kabulonga residence in Lusaka.

“In view of the unprecedented number of by election going on, we see it fit to demand for the holding of a snap election. This is the most sensible thing to do than wasting resources that are not available on senseless by election. As I talk to you today, there are nine more by election ahead of us within 60 days,” Dr Muma said.

He added, “This has never happened in the history of this nation. This is retrogressive and a waste of time and energy instead of coming with ideas on how to improve the lives of the people.”

He said the PF is not comfortable with the balance of power in parliament and is determined to continue creating by elections as a way of entrenching themselves in power.

He said the MMD is ready for a general election especially that its structures are all intact.

“The MMD is ready for a snap election and we just hope our colleagues in the other parties are equally ready.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Mumba has disclosed that Zambia’s international reputation has been destroyed from the time the PF ascended to power.
Dr. Mumba said no single foreign head of state has visited Zambia over the past two years.

“As we face the third Christmas under the PF, a dangerous and unfortunate pattern is emerging. Zambia is slowly being isolated by the international community. No single Head of State has visited this country since the PF took over and I think we must not brush these things off as a country because these are fundamental issues,” Dr Mumba said.

He said Zambians should start examining why the country is facing international isolation.

“Not even a reciprocal visit has happened to all those countries that Mr Sata has visited, we need to ask why, what has happened to our image as a country.
And Dr. Mumba has demanded for the immediate re-instatement of fuel and maize subsidies, conclusion of the constitution making process and re-instatement of dismissed nurses.

    • RB’s members of parliament were very corrupt. infact MMD as a party was very corrupt and lost respect for our electoral process. They never thought they can be out of power. This is a lesson even to PF MPs. Good work by our Judiciary. Continue exposing these corrupt and selfish MPs. Why cant u also try to challenge PF MPs for corruption if you think the courts are not doing a good job?

    • @ Akalipa nurse
!Ba mambala mwania! kikikikiki made me laugh. You are busy blogging, your are gaining weight?
This a side, ba MMD since your a ware two thing needs serious considerations.
1.0 let all MMD and UNPD MPs resign so that half of the country goes for bye elections are close the parliament.
2.0 Do you work and rise this issue with courts in Zambia to nullify the whole generations based on your arguments
3.0 Bring the President in conflict with law such ZNS killings and Chelston killings,
firing of the three police who sue the President.
      Otherwise

    • Too bad Dr Mumba. We understand how you feel. Just after the 2011 elections, there were many petitions against your members. If your members were involved in corrupt activities and the petitioners have been able to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that your MPs cheated in one way or the other, sorry, the seats will be nullified.

This may just show how bad electioneering had become. Remember the courts are there to look at facts, EVIDENCE!

Surprising that Dr. Mimba is not complaining against the Courts but the President. Dr. Mumba, if you have evidence that Pres. Sata was fraudulently elected, GO TO COURT.

Sad but that is reality! Grrrrhhh!

    • How can corrupt Lombe Chibesa Kunda and group fight corruption as alleged in the MMD.?You don’t solve corruption by corruption, hatred, fear, bitterness and bufi.I know Jehovah God will come to our rescue as a nation Zambia soon.

    • LADIES & GENTLEMEN I BEG LET US PUT POLITICS ASIDE WE ALL KNOW THAT BIG MAN IS SICK LET US KNELL DOWN THE WHOLE NATION AND PRAY WITH OUR HEARTS 4 THE QUICK RECOVERY OF BOSS PLIZ I BEG

    • This is not just an MMD problem but a national one. Very few MPs can claim to have one their seats without donating one thing or another to the electorate. We have heard of mealie meal, sugar, medicines, boreholes, contributions to churches, chitenges, footballs and team uniforms to school, road grading, etc.

  1. As those who will (in the future) have to bear the responsibilities for all our actions are all still unborn or toddlers at the moment – let’s preserve their innocence this christmas and not leave them with the taste of ignoring election terms to boost egos (even if the on the ground popularity is waning). Would like to see parties using their skills and expertise on the ground to develop their constituencies and others by thinking outside the box. That would get my vote next election. Not this. The craziness of the seat switching/fiddling/musical chairs or whatever it is needs to be addressed in the new constitution as the ballot box has no effect except to change the fiddler.

  2. There are many other issues surrounding our nations which are pending as to why the president does not respond to the nation. I for one would opt to go for fresh general elections other than going for by-elections.

  3. instead of improving the lives of people u ar busy stealin from the little they have and use it for nonsense by election which benefits two people the chap moving from the opposition to th rulin party n Sata.instead of employin medical personel u r firing them creating poverty in th country n u wonder y crime rate z increasin.

  4. Dr Mumba should stop crying foul and concentrate on building a broken MMD. He found the party in good state and now see what MMD is. DR Mumba can not win any election. Just trying to buy media mileage, MMD need a new leader if they are to win any election not DR Mumba

  5. MMD have themselves to blame for allowing RB, and now NM to be party Presidents. Where were the true blues?

See where your party has gone now.

  6. Too many paid bloggers, what Dr mumba says is a logical thing to do if pf Intension is not vengeance.God answer our prayers soon.

  7. The biggest problem Zambia as nation has is that the country has got too many i.d.i.o.t.s who support anything as long as it is coming from the PF and Michael Sata but can’ t ready between the lines the dangers that lie ahead. Nevers Mumba’ s concerns are genuine and has analysed the dangerous current political scape of this country. But the dullest people of this nation it doesn’ t matter their status or educational background, they are there singing songs of praises to party and government that is slowly leading the country into turmoil. Already, mealie meal prices are up meaning many people in the ”have not” bracket will be going without food. Where is the glory of Michael Sata and his PF administration ?

  8. opposition in Zambia ! oppose things which annoy Zambians like making the country look ungovernable and dirt through street vending getting a share of our mineral wealth education, lack of jobs, increased food prices etc by proposing workable solution not making big statement which are politically empty.

  9. Zambian journalists and their hopeless reporting:
Meanwhile, Dr. Mumba has disclosed that Zambia’s international reputation has been destroyed from the time the PF ascended to power. Is this a disclosure? Really?
I would have just written”… Mumba has said”

  10. …personally, I lost faith in Nevers when he betrayed me and shamelessly attended the Independence ‘banquet’….. he has to do something extra-ordinary to raise my morale than holding a press conference and bringing out stale news

  11. IN REFERENCE TO NUMEROUS NULLIFICATION OF MPs ELECTIONS BY THE COURTS, PASTOR MUMBA SAYS THAT “THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN THE HISTORY OF THIS NATION. THIS IS RETROGRESSIVE AND A WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY INSTEAD OF COMING WITH IDEAS ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE.”

First time, first time, first time…

Lest THE PASTOR forgets, the 2011 elections were the
    1. Most Corrupt Elections,
    3. Most Expensive Elections,
    4. Saw Children Of The Head Of State Become Advertising, Marketing Agents,
    5. Witnessed The Head Of State Buy Buses For Campaigns Etc
    6. Before that a former President was dragged before courts for corruption etc

  12. ITS GREED OF HIGHEST ORDER BY MPS OF THE OPPOSITION,TO REMAIN QUITE!
THE IMMOVABLE THING TO DO,IS FOR ALL OPPOSITION MPS TO RESIGN AND THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY WILL COME DOWN.

  13. The hero in Zambia that will end all these turmoils is the one who will put bullets in the heads of the few creating anarchy in the country full stop. Fighting for Democracy can mean death. Soldiers be brave.

  14. If MMD is ready for general elections, UPND should even be more ready. At one time HEMCS threatened to dissolve parliament. Dr. Mumba has now thrown him a bold challenge. I agree with Doc Mumba. It is better to settle this issue for once and for all instead of these continuous by- elections which are diverting the govt’s attention from real developmental programs.

  15. Comrade Mumba is in his third party as President. I suspect that Mr. Mumba might join another party soon after selling all the MPs in MMD (except the wise men from the East) to the PF.

  16. So sad ! We are so tired of this bye election nonsense. Surely parliamentarians themselves can do something about this thorn in our backsides!

  17. All of u supporting Mumba are out of yo minds & are a represetation of how rotten African politics are.Mmd was involved in massive electro corruption as they were desparate to win.Tho pf won the elections were not free and fare. Thanks mmd lost.

  18. There was massive fraud but mmd could not manage the overwelming votes pf received.Mumba how could the President who was in the opposition then win fraudulantly?A normal human being must blame mmd and give praise de courts 4 de work dey are doing.

  19. What has brought us to this level as a country 49 years is poor perception of how we look at ourselves, colonial kind of thinking. The country is going a wrong direction, ubunga na bu dula, stupid by elections, the judicial system is in Tatars,no one knows the direction the constitution is heading.Suprising the whole country is zee, something is wrong.Dr Mumba it will take another generation for this country to change.Just look at what the other bloggers when there make a contribution.Ubupina indeed is a curse.

  20. Pf may have their own weaknesses but that does not mean the corruption of mmd must be spared. That’s nosense and shows how corrupt Zambia has been.Shame upon u supporting it.lt must serve as a lesson to the pf and 2 all.

  21. @Tom,know that it is the very poverty yo weakered mmd took advantage of.Pf has her own weaknesses and mmd her own. Each must be dealt with accordingly.l repeat,0 of u condoning mmd’s corrupt acts are sick.

  22. Pastor Nervous Mumba,
Please be strong and take it easy. Blame your corrupt predecessors or at least the courts and not the PF government.
The general election might reduce you to one in parliament. Be warned!

  23. I can see how sick some Zambians can be.Does it take a genious to persive that mmd is to blame?I congradulate the petitioners for that’s democracy. What kind of beings that appreciate the judiciary only when they win a case?Mmd u are rotten!

  24. Luapula and osmore you are kids and rotten men surely your PF is borrowing everyday because MMD left them a strong economy and a huge surplus.
Secondly if you trying to blame MMD for those 2011 elections then Sata himself was corruptly elected too because he was part of those elections so we need to probe him too, Justice is not one sided like what your party is doing.
next PF is misusing our constitution to benefit themselves since they are in power and can twist our judicial system, like stated this has never been done, the people before of which Sata was part in UNIP and MMD never did that because it’s a

1.strain on our budget evident by huge every-time borrowing and wage freeze.
2.constituencies are left without representation for long time, right now so many of them don’t…

  25. Mr. Mumba , what justification is there that you will set thing right? you, your self has taken corruption to a whole new level.

  26. @29,be reasonable enough.Stop behaving like those thieves when found stealing they end up accusing the ones whom they have stolen from. That’s RB’s philosophy. How can pf be corruptly elected simply becuase mmd did evil?lf then u too petition them.

  27. @29,What u ve written is de idio cy nd rotteness of u Zambians in general and mmd in particular.Even what u sight as the effects mmd must take the blame.lf they have a living conscience must take time 2 appologies 2 de nation 4 their corrupt ways.

  28. As an independent mind i dont nd to be paid by anyone.l have my share in Zambia therefore it is not money that counts. Mmd is to blame.Their corruption had become endemic no wonder at 0 levels its corruption nd lazyness.Pf must do more.fix them!

  29. It is very unlikely that the Sata ted government can accept to go for an early election. If the opposition is really serious about this matter, all OPPOSITION MPS should reflect on this statement and resign.Dr. Mumba has made very valid observations which every progressive Zambia must support.

Am one of those people who is fed up with these by elections nonsense.

  30. In Zambia there is a high attrition rate for nurses in general, with a nurses to patient ratio being 1: 1420 population. The establishment is for 16, 732, but the actual number of nurses is 8607. In specialized areas like theatre nursing the numbers are even lower. The health reforms of the 1990, to down size the civil service in Zambia, resulted in a mass exodus of nurses from the public health sector. The low pay of about 100dollars is.

1 nurse to attend to 1,420 patients speaks volumes about the stress of a nurse, quality of service that if PF Was a concerned government should have been seen to be addressing positively. Sadly their approach is negative.
