The Supreme Court has discharged MMD leader Nevers Mumba of contempt of court proceedings after he apologised and withdrew his statement that the Supreme Court was working with the PF to nullify MMD seats.

This is a matter in which Dr Mumba has cited for contempt of court after he issued a statement that the MMD had information that the Supreme Court was colluding with the PF to nullify MMD seats.

Losing 2011 PF Petauke constituency candidate Leonard Banda had sued Dr Mumba for contempt of court.

Delivering judgement Monday morning, Supreme Court Judge Marvin Mwanamwambwa said the court discharged Dr Mumba after he apologised and withdrew the contemptuous statement.

Judge Mwanamwambwa said the bench also considered the mitigation by Dr Mumba’s lawyer Irene Kunda on behalf of her client.

Judge Mwanamwambwa cautioned all political players to desist from engaging in electoral malpractices.

He said political party candidates must abide by the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Electoral Code of Conduct.

And Dr Mumba who was in a happy mood promised to issue a comprehensive statement on the matter at a later stage.

He said he needed to reflect on the outcome of the court action.

Thank Heavens for Dr Mumba. I was dead scared for him following recent utterances from George Chellah!

God is great indeed! He frees Mumba but refuses to free Zambia from the shackles of buffoonery. He that creates the vast universe performs personalized piecemeal projects? Its unconscionable!

What a LOGICAL & SOUND JUDGEMENT from a Judge with Principles!! He relied on the EVIDENCE!! “Fool.ish” Kamimbya WHO HAS NEVER WON A COURT CASE, thought COPYING THE LETTER TO CJ was very CLEVER – NOT REALISING HE WAS COLLUDING WITH THE JUDICIARY ON PAPER!!! The STREET SWEEPER had the audascity to ask IF THEY COULD APPEAL – obviously NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT “SUPREME” MEANS!!
