Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Executive Director Neo Simutanyi has advised that it is undemocratic for Patriotic Front (PF) members to call for expulsion of Kasama central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba who recently resigned from the position of Defense Minister.

Dr. Simutanyi says PF members calling for expulsion of Mr Mwamba are actually undermining the country’s democratic tenets as everyone in the country has the right to express themselves in any manner if aggrieved, as Mr. Mwamba has done by resign from government.

Dr. Simutanyi states that resigning from government when one is an MP does not mean that such an individual has nothing to do with the party on which ticket he became a member of parliament.

He says Mr. Mwamba has the right to resign and at same time remain a member of the PF.

And Dr. Simutanyi has observed that there is nothing amounted to breach of Oath Secrecy under which Mr. Mwamba swore to pledge allegiance to the Head of State and defend the country’s constitution from the statements he has made so far following his resignation.

He has further observed that Mr. Mwamba’s resignation from the Ministerial position should also be considered as a good sign that some people in the country are actually able to resign on moral principles.

Dr Simutanyi spoke to Qfm News in an interview.

  1. I hope the president will not listen to the calls of cadres to have expulsion of GBM come to pass.

I say so because of what happened to Frank Bwalya after cadres called for the arrest of Frank Bwalya and indeed Frank Bwalya was arrested. Let us be busy by working for the poor and for bettering this country for our small children and not to show that we are in power and we can control everybody and everything.

You have been put there to work for the ones who are not able to be where u are to work for others. We can not all of us be where you, but you are there by the grace of God. So work as if you were working for God and God is supervising you right where you are.

may God give you wisdom and have mercy on.

  2. Can any thing good come out of the mouth of Willie Nsanda, hon. Chipili, Peter Mwansa & Evarist Chela? These people are not looking for new ways to protect & safe guard constituents & all Zambians in Northern Province including the rights of paramount Chitimukulu & GBM. They’re busy delivering destruction for Zambians & PF members by forcing GBM to resign from PF for the love of money, power & fame. Undemocratic, no love & respect for the chief, since the chief cannot give them money. GBM has a member of the royal family has a right to speak in the affairs that affect Chitimukulu, that’s why he resigned to avoid “conflict of interest”. The above mentioned people are not only hating GBM, but indirectly hating Citimukulu. These people have no respect for the rights of individuals.

  3. Simutanyi keep quiet! Insoni ebuntu. You have been silent on many issues of national interest and now you want to start lecturing us on GBM? Muleibwelamo fimo ata see.

  4. why is this guy putting his 2 senses into this issue-he has more earwax between his ears than grey matter. We remember him with his sponsored polls predicting RB would win -has his money run out

  5. Neo Simutanyi was my lecturer in political science, and as such I have great respect for him. It was disheartening to see him publicize his poll results which indicated RB would win by about 32% of the vote. Now I see my former lecturer is back to his soberness and this time he is right. GBM has not revealed anything to the public except to say he does not know why Chitimukulu is surrounded by police from Kamfinsa. He has resigned on principle, and that is how it is done in civilized societies.

  6. He should have resigned quietly instead of disparaging the Head of State publicly n expect favours. That’s what civilized people do.
