Opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) president Nevers Mumba has said it is time for all opposition leaders to accept change and fight for unity for the good of the nation.
Dr. Mumba told Qfm news that it is unfortunate that some opposition leaders still want to call the MMD corrupt when in fact that is not the case.He refuted assertions that the former ruling party still has traces of corruption.
The MMD president said from the time he took over presidency of the MMD, he has been working tirelessly with other party members to change the old image of the former ruling party.
He said this is evidenced from the support and hope which Zambians have given to the party in the past two years.
He added that his party will continue to preach peace and unity as opposed to attacking other opposition leaders.
When an opposition leader, is seeking backing from other opposition leaders, then he knows like a game of pool, he has been snookered and he is looking for a way out,
Mr Mumba, you are disappearing in obscurity as a party like UNIP

A leapard cannot change it’s spots overnight. Unfortunately you inherited a corrupt party and you have to work very hard to convince the masses that you are not just missing your old corrupt life as a party. Have you considered the possibility that this “tag” of the MMD being currupt…may simply be a successful Mm’membe scheme that many of you have fallen for? Let’s face it..in MMD we had the best leadership Zambia has ever had. And that comes in the last 10 years of their rule. So how did we all fail to see that? Forming a unity with someone like Mumba is like picking up a hole from a night club and marrying her. This man has ditched even the church. He has ditched the party that he formed himself for the love of money. And unfortunately for the opposition, unity means having HH as president and this is the only unity possible. Any other HH will not accept.

Ba Wanzelu please for once,be it known that UPND has an uphill battle to win aggregate national votes.PF managed to win,because it had amassed more votes from the most high voters numbers(Nothern,CB and Luapula Provinces combined).Statistically speaking,they are more voters in Northern,CB. PF just needed top-up votes from the now disappointed WP..UPND getting 100 percent vote from SP can not get the Presidency.Let this sink into your stubborn heads.UPND needs collective effort than other Parties since they’re obsessed with Plot 1.
Why is it that UPND only thinks that other oppositions should just join them and back-up HH as their presidential candidate.When the late Mazoka was leading in 2001,the tribal Tonga behaviour was at play.BOZ,ZANACO,ZESCO were restructured.At State House,some Tonga characters were heard saying:Tukolwe out kwanjila ng’ombe.Please now we need a president who won’t promote only his/her tribe.For now HH is un predictable.We shall have Bemba out and enter Tonga.We need a National President regardless of any Tribe.

UPND appears to have put on too much hot air around its waist ever since it won the Lufwanyama seat.Facts are that had MMD participated in Lufwanyama by-election,the seat would certainly not have been won by UPND considering the small margin that knocked out PF.UPND will realize too late that it will need another big arm to wit off the thuggish PF.
As for MMD,let them not waste time trying to form unions with nonentities.If in 2016,Zambians continue to reject the party,it certainly will rejuvenate itself thereafter.
@Chris, you’re right. UPND has got no or few STRATEGISTS, no wonder, always, they’re left scratching their heads after general election. On their own, they will not win any election in Zambia, more especially if the 50+1 is enacted. They should start serious discussions with MMD and other parties if they want to taste power. Have toured Lusaka, CB, Central, Northern, Muchinga. In some of these places, UPND is not a factor. You hear PF and MMD. Anyway, all the best to UPND.

just be factual my brother. lusaka,cb and central are no longer pf strong holds. particularly central and lusaka. there is no MMD anywhere in the country. the MMD mps are just mark timing for their gratuity in 2016 after that it exodus. so do your research properly not from behind a key board
We, in UPND, are pretty strategic. Even the reluctance to join alliances created in the media is strategic. When we ask questions on the whereabouts of UKWA and you respond with insults and other emotional invectives, that is strategic. At least people now know that CNP has no direction. When we mount door to door campaigns, it is strategy because your police will not arrest and poison us. We, in UPND, believe in use of soft power. We also know as a matter of strategy that there are certain provinces who are tribal- inclined and can never use reason to think. And we devising appropriate responses in that regard.
I somehow rate Nevers Mumba very lowly in my choice of leaders. I do not think Nevers would make a good president. He comes out raw in many of his statements. For those of you who know him, how did he manage Victory ministries? How does he manage his house? I have no respect for people who make so much noise over a honorary doctorate. What wrong with calling himself just simple Nevers? Why does he want to behave as if he has a PhD when he does not? Zuma has been given so may honorary doctorates but he has refused to be called a Doctor, now that’s one a man (with his deficiencies)!
The best advice i can give to this former clergy man is simply to go back and seek for forgiveness from the flock he abandoned a few years ago.The political landscape of our country today is totally different.A tested leadership like that of MMD still remains practically impossible to be given another chance to preside over the affairs of this country.Am very sure Nevers Mumba thinks he can resurrect MMD because he lived abroad when Rupiah and MMD where at the helm of power.Nevers need a person like me to know the truth otherwise he risks going into oblivion.

UPND should not think that it is easy to win elections on their own because thinking like that will be a big disappointment. PF won in 2011 because of President sata’s record and UPND does not have that record. The TRUTH cannot be defeated. Dr. Mumbai cannot be trusted for he has tendency of jumping fences depending on the direction the wind blows and this is corruption expressed in different form.
